Dear Doctor Kahn... what is the healthiest cooking oil ? I have heard that vegetable seed oils are very bad and inflammatory and that extra virgin coconut oil is best... they also say that extra virgin olive oil is also good except that it has a low smoke point... I have also heard that vegetable margarine is very bad because it contains trans fats and that grass fed butter is very good because it contains Vitamin K2...
Dr Joel, I think you've mentioned somewhere before and I see contradictory things, but whats the skinny with marathon runners and athletes of that ilk, is there long term heart damage going on? Because logic would imply as they're ultra fit that they should in fact have the healthiest hearts, yet it seems to be those surviving past a hundred don't exercise a huge amount, stay active yes, move around a lot, yes, but are not exercising intensively and are often times plus a few extra pounds. Whats up with that? Thanks!

Hi Joel - In any given month you can eat two eggs in Week 1, and some steak in Week 2, and some poultry in Week 3 and some Seafood in Week 4, AND YOU WILL NOT GET HEART DISEASE. Of course you can't eat a lot of junk food (most of which is vegan friendly), do some light exercise, and maintain the correct weight.
My friend eats a lot of animal products. He is diagnosed with a heart disease. A lot of junkfood have mostly animal products on it. (these are keto and carnivore friendly.)
@@markjosephdino149 Other way around. Most animal products come with junk food. Fast food meal - burger with kethcup, sauce and a giant bun, french fries with ketchup, large Coke. The burger did not give him heart disease. It was the other junk.
Dr Kahn I have known people who have great cholesterol. But 80-90% blockage in arteries. How is that possible? Vegetarian person, petite, active person.
You're a great doctor.

@@rubygreta1 Burger is part of the junk actually. That's why I avoid going to fast food. Don't pretend that meat doesn't hurt you.
@@markjosephdino149 300 calorie burger, 900 calories of junk. Think about it.

Either too much dairy and oils, or too low in b12, or both.
Have they had their Lp(a) checked?
