Dave's story about the local music store reminded me of when Dave told me that his father said "The only one making money in music is the guy who sold you that guitar"......
I wasn't completely awake yet ( it's about 3 am where I am ) and I thought I had read "Semi Anal truss rod adjustment day" instead 😄😄😄 But thankfully a good cup of coffee fixed everything...
That Washburn is a tone monster. If i could only keep two basses it would be my lake placid blue P Bass and my Ric. The Ric is super comfortable but the Fender blows everything out of the water.
Mine is a 1985 P-Bass made in Japan. Cream color with a white pickguard. Maple neck and fretboard. I usually play with a pick just above the bridge. Locking strap buttons. No thumb rest. She is beautiful. I do wish the truss rod adjustment was on the headstock and not at the heal of the neck. That's the only thing I would change if I designed it.
your theory about the truss rod matches mine, too. BUT, I HATE, HATE, HATE taking the neck off to adjust anything! I'll gladly take off my pants to make adjustments, just not any neck!
6:13 Not sure I’d call that a bat wing; it look more like an ocean sunfish. The guy who probably designed it was an ocean sunfish in his previous life too.
The turning of the truss rods.😁 Always wondered, do you need to humidify a semi hollow body instrument like you need to humidify an acoustic guitar, or is the wood thick/stable enough that you don't need to?
Is it just the camera angle or is there more space between the A and D strings on the Back P-bass than between the E and A and G and D? Near the pick-up cover.
What wall hanger hooks do you recommend? There are a lot for sale on Scamazon. I don't want the chance of a guitar getting knocked off or of marring the neck finish. Any ideas? I want about 6 of them.
My only Bass guitar that i have is a 1977 fender p bass like yours except with a maple neck and fret board and truss rod adjustment is at the top. i dont think ive ever adjusted the neck since the 70s and it still plays great but i dont play it often. i bought it so i could teach our bass player how to play the bass parts of songs we played. i think i payed 375 for it brand new. all those big chrome pieces were taken off. id think that harmony feeds back at high volumes. in the 70s the only good basses were fender p bass the hofner, gibson ripper and the rickenbackers. course there was a les paul bass nobody played, the rest were junk that were availible. fender was the best bang for the buck for sure. mines pretty mint in black. i keep it cased
Skipped this last year on several guitars. Pulled the Les Paul out of the case last week and it is growing the hump now. Listen to Dave, kids! If I was in Buffalo I would toss it over, but I am on the other end of the lake, so I gotta improvise a repair myself. "It's just some little baby strings it will be fine" Nope, it adds up eh?
James Jamerson and Jack Bruce (just for two of the many) kicked our bass butts back then. Susan, Margaret, and Michelle (for three of the many more) were inspirations too, but I only got to play guitar.
Dave for President of the World.
Seconded! It really needs its trussrod adjusting.
I had to adjust my truss rod just last week because the furnace started running. And I know how to do it thanks to watching Dave for years.
Thx for sharing. Nice to see Sonic-Low -Enders that that are not just P-Bass Fenders..... Holiday Salutations to U & the community......
That P Bass was the definition of rode hard and put away wet. I've never seen sweat do that to a finish. You're a beast, Davey!
Rory Gallagher would like a word.
You sound good. Hope you are well, love your channel
that Precision is immortal
Dave,,,,,,,,,,,, boy I love that Batwing and your story attached to it!!
Dave's story about the local music store reminded me of when Dave told me that his father said "The only one making money in music is the guy who sold you that guitar"......
Man, that Washburn is cool. All three are great looking basses.
Thanks man! They're all pretty rad
That Washburn is funky as !
I could live with that ! 👍
Yooo let’s go! Adjust those rods boys! Kinda glad the tele I got doesn’t require any neck shenanigans like that.
That Washburn is badass.
My favourite bass was a 1979/80 arctic white p-bass. I miss it all the time. Nice stuff, Dave.
[looks at my own rack of guitars] Well, shit. Thanks for the reminder, Dave. 😂
Some lovely bass guitars there Dave.
Merry Christmas to you have a good one.
Look forward to seeing what you do next year.

Nice, I did my Winter adjustments last week. Thanks Dave!👍👍
Rock on, Dave!
Hey Dave! Looking awesome!

Great movie. Thanks 🎸
Thanks for reminding me.
Thanks!
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
all those bass guitars were very cool Dave!
FUN STUFF! Yes!
Get Er Done Dave, interesting here, Have you seen any Drones in your area?
Another reason I've heard for the truss at the heel is that the head stock and the end of the neck is stronger and more rigid.
Thanks Dave!
Nice collection
That Washburn is a beauty eh?

Who took my capo away? Oh, I'm the only one here.
Great video, bet your glad basses are not complicated
Nice little Animals riff snuck in there.
O.k. Dave. Now that the posties are back, how can I get a 'Diamond' C.D?
your theory about the truss rod matches mine, too. BUT, I HATE, HATE, HATE taking the neck off to adjust anything! I'll gladly take off my pants to make adjustments, just not any neck!
The extremely out of key recorder to avoid copyright claim in the intro had me cracking up right out of the starting gate! 😂
Me: huh... I didn't know recorders had "keys" ((haha))

Dave Fretless bass sealed or unsealed neck which would you suggest?
👍👍👍
Semi-ANUAL, huh-huh. That's funny, Beavis

variable string spacing ..your choice

String Swing are good
Thanks. Christmas present to myself.
I didn’t realize you was a registered chiropractor

He’s not god, but he’s pretty f’in close
In '72 you already knew you wanted to play bass? I thought every kid in '72 wanted to be either Ritchie Blackmore or Eric Clapton?
James Jamerson and Jack Bruce (just for two of the many) kicked our bass butts back then.

@@RiverdeepnwideDon't forget Paul McCartney, John Entwistle and Chris Squire
