Thanks, Ken. I watch Tom's Tech Time (filming in Iceland) and he has already reviewed the Evo II and just what I thought. This drone's build quality is not the best but the Cameras are really what set it apart from new drones on the market. The plastics chosen and mold lines and build look are not up to DJI Mavic Pro or Pro 2 standards and resemble the plastic quality of the Mavic Mini. The biggest issue for me is that 6K and 8K file sizes and the fact that 2019 iMac Pro along with any Windows-based Pro Laptop can not smoothly handle the file size for smooth playback or editing unless you use a Proxy workflow. That with the fact that for UA-cam Creators, The file compression that YT puts on 6K or 8K and 4K makes the video quality no more better than what you would get with Mavic 2 Pro or Phantom 4 Pro. Of course, having a higher resolution with allow for more options to crop video and keep a high resolution. And unless someone can afford a $5000 8K OLED TV, I don't personally don't see rushing out to purchase EVO II just to get the latest drone available when I can not edit or view the video at its full potential without significant investment in new computers and TV and just to see it in 1080P, 2.7K, or 4K on YT with its poor VP09 Codec compression playback. I do feel the EVO II Duo with FLIR camera is the choice for enterprise services.
Addy Overbeeke the fact that you could get out of DJI’s horrendous tech support, GEO fencing and potential data sharing issues ALONE are enough reason to switch to EVO.
I totally agree with you here. but I disagree with the statement " I do feel the EVO II Duo with FLIR camera is the choice for enterprise services." The same principle applies here. the evo 2 dual also has the base model 8K camera in which means that the search and rescue will also need to beef up their editing hardware to accommodate the resolution of the camera. yes the 640 boson is an awesome camera. but if you look at just the cost of the camera then the drone is not that special of a drone at all. say for instance the dual will cost $3200. as that is close to what the DJI Mavic 2 enterprise dual costs. the boson 640 cost $1900 excl VAT. so the whole drone only cost $1300 to make. Yes the dual with the Lipton sensor is not practical enough and dji could have gone better on that. but at least they did not compensate on quality when making their drone. not having to upgrade your hardware to use their product is a big plus. unless Autel proposes to produce cheaper 8K pc's and or tv's I do not see me buying an Autel 2 anytime soon
@@johanmostert7183 Good points when considering the cost. I was thinking more for EVO 2 Daul's FLIR camera performance over that of the Mavic Enterpise's FLIR camera. The 8K camera recording session could be set to 4K or 2.7K or 1080 if wanting/needing to capture smaller higher frame rate videos for more manageable file sizes. It will be interesting to see how popular this drone would be. The best professional drone I feel is the DJI M210 series with its camera and FLIR options.
Thanks for this first look at the new EVO 2, this thing has a lot of potential. I can’t wait to see you put it through it’s paces during your full review.
Please give us soon details on how does obstacle avoidance compare to mavic 2 and skydio. I'm kinda tired of the limitations (nfz) of the mavic and plan to find another solution. Not that I'm an idiot to fly in restricted areas and cause danger, but dji limits areas way too much.
Wow your channel rocks, you got the price so easy while other UA-cam channel's were saying this drone was going to be a lot more expensive $1495 a bargain for this tech! Just $345 more than the Skydio 2 (including remote) with maybe 2x flight times.
@@sethbob5742 OriginaldoBo and others got it first time, but I guess some are a bit slow so that I have to make it more clear for them lol are you one of them?
Ken!....awesome job my friend. Fantastic coverage. I am extremely excited about Autel this year. Let's see how they pull of the sensor readout and image processing on this one. I'm assuming we have a Sony EXMOR 1 inch sensor and Ambarella H3 image processor combo going on? Autel loved my DJI Mavic Pro sensor breakdown video last year and they did contact me about it concerning some of the technical aspects about it. I'm betting they did this time what DJI could not do with their 1 inch sensor. This one looks like it could be the real deal on 1 inch sensor video image quality. You rock buddy!!!
The trend to make it smaller does target different demographics. The ones who don't give a crap about 1" sensor, 4K, or any of that, but just want a "smartphone" that flys and takes photos for their social media. DJI is the leader and has various camera sizes from the smallest to the largest, something for everyone. The bar has been raised a bit now with Skydio 2 and this Autel Evo and is gonna be very interesting to see DJI now with their Mavic 3 Pro. Knowing DJI, they wouldn't want to be followers so bring it on DJI. it is gonna be a great year for Drone lovers.
Thank you, Ken, very nice interview with Autel. You packed a lot in a short period of time in the video. Now, what EVO 2 are you getting to review?? Thanks again for the Twitter updates!
Great job Ken! you covered that well and even nailed a price. I'd wait on the 6K Evo2. 1" sensor. Hell yea. $1,700 + or - I'd guess plus. But still if batteries are affordable I'd consider buying it if DJI doesn't come out and beat it soon. Thanks for covering the Trio. Again great job
To add to the Autel rep Tim and Ken's comments, Ken you'll be happy to hear the the Autel team that's flight testing the Evo 2 will be doing a dual in the sky with the Evo 2 and the Skydio 2 like you did thought the trees with the Skydio 2 recently. Why? To test the Evo 2's ability to obsticle avoid. Another feature not talked about are the new prop shape. The make the props much less noisy as they produce a lower octive sound. Also, the cameras are interchangeable. Own one Evo 2 and have a reserve camera of a two other style cameras without any firmware changes. I ask because it's not the same website and they have nothing on their site regarding pre orders. 3) If number 2 is associated, then I would guess you can still use the trade in option that is noted on the Autel main website but if not, is there a trade in option here? The Autel indicates I could trade in the DJI Phantom 3 I have that barely has an hour flight time because I ended up getting the Typhoon H a couple years back. Appreciate any feedback.

I think it will be a succès as price is great and specs are awesome but you will have to tell us after compare it to mavic 2 Pro..
Very good question regarding remote id, definitely not purchasing new drone. Will stand pat w Spark, Mavic Air and Mavic Pro too see what happens. 400 feet height n distance restrictions for recreational flyers. BS...
🙌🏼Ken & Billy🙌🏼 what’s up guys🤣🤣🤣🚁🥰😉☝🏽
Nice job on getting a price
If the price is more than 1800 (pro version), the dji will be better
👍👍👍👌
Wait for it...
"Standard" Remote ID is a must going forward but like the guy eluded to...trying to get exact standards or what that means is impossible because it is in a proposal stage and nobody has it, lol. It's as if a diabolical plot is at hand and we wait as the government picks the next free market winner and shuts down competition and innovation. I can't wait to make my donation to the cause. Just wish they would hurry up, the suspense is killing me.
Super
Give the cameraman some glasses
I want to have one
