It’s not OCD. It’s attention to detail, professionalism and the self-respect if producing a beautiful, high quality piece of art. Please don’t classify these excellent qualities as a negative. You take pride in your work. You are congratulated for that! Lovely work.
OCD would be obsessively polishing one small spot in little circles exactly 100 times, losing count, then having to start counting again. It would be checking and re-checking that youve turned on the machines, then off then on again to make sure theyre actually running. Itd be washing your hands for exactly 5 minutes, forgetting your arms, then again for 5 minutes, 5 more times. OCD is much more than being a perfectionist. Its almost debilitating. My dad has to check the light switches, smoke alarms, stove and pven at least 15 times, in order, before he leaves the house. When he shuts off the car, it's "park, break, check" 10 times or more before youre even allowed to unbuckle. That is a beautiful piece of art. You have high standards for yourself and your workmanship. Youre not OCD, but a master of your craft.

I've been seeing it called out a lot more recently, which is good. I'm sure most people don't mean harm when they use it in this context, but it's important to educate when it comes to something like this. All future children will find tons of charcuterie boards in future thrift stores and look at the them the way all of us used to look at fondue pots. Thank you for all the likes!
While I think this is a great piece, as someone with diagnosed OCD I think I speak for most OCD people when I say stop using OCD as another word for perfectionism. They’re two different things. With perfectionism, you like things to be perfect, but with OCD, there is no other possible way for you to do it. There is no option in your mind. You have the ability to do less, you just choose not to. You only make it perfect bc that’s how you like it. Everytime i open a can of soda, I have to tap 5 times no matter what or I believe it’s going to explode, not like the soda will fizz over, no like the pressure from the can will literally make it explode. It’s completely irrational, but in my mind it’s completely real everytime i have a soda in my hand. OCD is not a silly little term for anyone to use bc they’re a little bit in the perfectionism side, it’s a medical condition that can make living extremely overwhelming and difficult for the people affected by it
@@guavasalt Nope. Not going to just allow people to just go ahead and think that this is the prevailing perspective amongst people with OCD. What if she'd said, "Most people love Putin..."? @@guavasalt I'm employing hyperbole to compare two things that I believe people have a passionate opinion about. For me, when someone says that OCD "is not perfectionism", it is quite grating to hear that, because I have a particularly severe form of it, it very much IS perfectionism, and it is definitely something I cannot control. And there are a lot of people out here making judgments about who has, or doesn't have the disorder, citing erroneous information about it, or policing how others are allowed to talk about it. More often than not, they have no idea what they're talking about, and don't know what is going on with the person they're targeting, behind the scenes. It's a free country. I ought to be able to register an opinion when I wish to. And it's not your place to dictate whether or when I should or shouldn't "walk away"...

That's one massive board damn lol Absolutely beautiful work!
What a beautiful board! Thank you for sharing your process. In the future, please consider saying something like "particular" instead of "OCD". It's hurtful to those trivialize a mental illness. Thank you 🙏
It’s not OCD. It’s attention to detail, professionalism and the self-respect if producing a beautiful, high quality piece of art. Please don’t classify these excellent qualities as a negative. You take pride in your work. You are congratulated for that! Lovely work.
OCD isn't negative in nature. It's a condition, that's it.

Youre not OCD, but a master of your craft.

for $500... that's right, he'd better care...
i have (had really debilitating) ocd and im so tired of people throwing the word ocd around like it's nothing. when i heard him say that my heart honestly dropped and i spent some time scrolling through the comments to look for the "bro that's not ocd" comments, and it feels great seeing all these people that arent ignorant about this. i unfortunately saw another commenter say they were ocd about their work too(??) but the amount of people trying to educate him on ocd was actually really nice and touching. i wish there were a "top" comment calling him out so more people could see it but i im still so glad and grateful people like you lot exist :) i hope one of you that are about to leave a comment like that sees this and i just want you to know i appreciate you a lot! ❤️
I've been seeing it called out a lot more recently, which is good. I'm sure most people don't mean harm when they use it in this context, but it's important to educate when it comes to something like this. Neatness is just one type of OCD, and OCD can be significantly more debilitating than most people think. It sucks that people use the term so casually.
l like to treat it very seriously. Say something along the lines of "oh im sorry to hear you have OCD, l hope you found a good therapist to help manage that. I'm proud of you for being so open about your mental health issues".
tldr
I literally dont care. Sucks that you have ocd but me and most other people are still gonna say we feel ocd about shit.

First of all, your project of beautiful, but as someone with OCD it can be harmful to use the term in the way you are. We don’t just want things to be perfect, it’s obsessive and harmful. He’s very proud of his work and so are we nicely done bro 🔥❤
OCD is not a silly little term for anyone to use bc they’re a little bit in the perfectionism side, it’s a medical condition that can make living extremely overwhelming and difficult for the people affected by it
You don't speak for me.
@@Khrystyna853 they said "most". if it doesn't apply to you, this comment is not for you. just walk away
@@guavasalt Nope. Not going to just allow people to just go ahead and think that this is the prevailing perspective amongst people with OCD.
What if she'd said, "Most people love Putin..."? Would you just walk away? I would think you'd be compelled to register your agreement or disagreement.
Case in point? You replied to my reply...
@@Khrystyna853 are you seriously comparing loving a dictator to people not wanting OCD to be misunderstood. listen to yourself rn lmfao.
