Watch this step-by-step tutorial of how we made this pallet wood art! We will show you every step so you can create one for yourself!
We’ve been in the mood to clean up our shop recently and we also needed to fill a large empty space on our bathroom wall after we sold our jewelry organizer. One of our UA-cam subscribers suggested that we build something to spruce up a master bathroom, so this pallet project was the perfect way to achieve all our goals!
Anyway, we hope you enjoy this project and as always, let us know if you try this one out! Tag us @SpencleyDesignCo on Instagram so we can check it out!

Very Nice - I use Gorilla Construction Adhesive in the field as opposed to wood glue more for production/speed, and a better bond on non-smooth surfaces.
I have noticed most construction adhesives, especially Gorilla love a little pressure, especially when bonding non-smooth surfaces. Your holding for a bit when applying really helps to spread the adhesive, but on flat projects, I give them 5 minutes with any kind of weight and see huge increases in bond, and less failures.

Thanks for sharing! I've been doing my first couple of mosaic pieces and using pallets as well. Did you do any jointing ahead of time? You didn't mention it, but wondered it you had any troubles with things lining up. Seems that is constantly giving me troubles. I know this was a rougher, more natural piece (which looks great btw) but have you done any others where you were looking at making it more flush? Or should I even be worrying about making mine even and flush? Probably overthinking it. Thanks again!

I saw a neat trick on another youtuber's channel which I shall shamelessly propagate here. Where the joins are a bit rough or visible, burnish it down with light taps from a hammer before sealing it. It works as good as sawdust /glue infill and only takes seconds, especially on rougher woods like this project.
Cheers for the fun video :)

0:40 An observation and a suggestions:
    - This looks like a 60 or 80 tooth crosscut blade, not the best for ripping (plus expensive)
    - I use 7-1/4" circular saw blade when doing rough work like this. The thin kerf creates less waste and rips super easy plus they're inexpensive so there's minimal financial impact if you damage one on lumber like this.

I can image a variation . . . Same board to this same level of completion. Then attach a continuous horizontal strip of those magnetic knife holders from left to right, straight down the center line. Maybe even do it with like a 3/4" strip of wood under the magnet strip, to give a bit more depth for visual interest and knuckle room when grabbing a knife. Would be a great way to display a nice set of kitchen knives while keeping them handy and sharp, and not rattling around in a drawer. You can send me a little royalty fee each time you sell one of those upgrade knife displays. (wink wink)

I hope you are more honest with your customers than you are with the youtube audience. What do you suppose the description of the finished product is in their ads?

I like pallet wood uses which are not apparent. I want to be persuaded a project is pallet wood, not have it scream across the room, "pallet wood used here!".
