- Russia has launched a hunt for British SAS forces allegedly fighting in western Ukraine. Kremlin's Investigative Committee will look into “the facts of the activities of British SAS saboteurs in Ukrainian regions”. Russian President Putin’s forces are searching for at least two SAS squads that may have been deployed to Lviv. The Kremlin's investigation is based on alleged revelations made by captured Ukrainian soldiers.

Haha ikr? 1 SAS is worth about 3-10 grunts and that’s on a good day (for the grunt). They used to pack SASR from the Navy and the other 2 services when I was in them. They don’t hire people off the street, they take only the top 3% of already hardened defence personnel. They not people you want to Fk with.

Plenty of SAS have died in conflicts over the years and CIA especially when they tried it on Cuba all got cut down with bullets, mission in somalia went wrong lost men, American soldiers in Afghanistan when they were in the process of packing up to leave blown up, Vietnam Russia supplying sam's to the Vietcong guerrillas monumental amounts of flying machinery taken out, no one is magic man in combat you still get shot or worst way's blown to bit's.
What's the big deal.. they're just limeys who can only fight from the shadows, not openly.
IF the SAS/SBS are in Ukraine, then any sensible Russian commanders won’t be looking that hard. The last thing you’d want to do is find them.

A Russian commander is walking through the mountains with his troops..
Everything is calm and then from behind hill comes a voice "one SAS solider is better than 10 of your men." Excited at the thought of taking out an SAS member, the commander sends 10 of his troops over the hill. After a short period of gun fighting, silence falls. And then again, from behind the hill come the words "One SAS solider is better than 50 of your men." So the commander considers then, before coming to the conclusion that surely one man cannot take on 50 of his best trained troops. So, over go 50 of his men. A long gunfight ensues, before once again, silence falls. Much to the commanders amazement the next thing he hears is "One SAS solider is better than 100 of your men." Now angered the commander sends 100 troops, thinking that that must be it, no man, SAS solider or not can take on 100 men. Again the gunfight breaks out. Hours later he spots one of his troops crawling back over the hill, retreating. The solider cries out "It's a trap! There's bloody two of them!"

Well... When your troop is kinda lock up fighting enemy in the front. The last thing you want is to worry about "Sabotaging" on your back. But it seem to happen so often now, be its an action of UK SAS, Ukraine SF, other group of SF, or their own idiocy is anyone guest. The whole point here is that UK is intervening in the war. And it was there special forces. Which means they do not honor what NATO is positioned right now. Ukraine is a non nato member that’s why Russia has a right to demand step out of nato troops.. really it’s 1 vs the world..
SAS are very good, but if the UK defence dept is stupid enough to deploy them to Ukraine, Spetsnaz will find them and it wont end well for the SAS.

@5LAMPO7 engaging the sas, yes that is not fun and hurts, and i have been on that end, while in training, and it hurt, but it made me one of the best soldiers and airmen in the british military. and i served at hereford, you will not even find their base, little own them in a foreign country, they are very loud ghosts, you see their results, not them, like the 4 fires now in russia, umm accidental fires set by sas troops, or was it your own men? fear in the enemy, best weapon in war, mind games, they are fun.
Given the operational standard of their forces so far, I reckon they'd be taking a big risk going anywhere near the SAS...... it would be asking for trouble. And if they get close enough to an SAS squad, they'll find it for sure.

Under the commitments made by the UK in the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, British soldiers are allowed and even obligated to fight to defend Ukraine. Russia agreed to that, and their signature attests to it.
The bottom line...in 1994 the USA and UK gave their word to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Plus in the last decade the Ukraine military worked closely with American Marines and British SAS. And with their help the Ukrainian military changed drastically from a strictly hierarchical structure (as the Russian army has) to an integrated platoon system. It is no pure coincidence that the weapons they use serve there tactics so well and vice verse. Like veterans of the Afghanistan war stated impressed „those Ukrainians fight like Taliban on steroids“. Let‘s all give those fighters the recognition and the respect they deserve.

Definitely. The only rival as far as we know that is a possible equal to the SAS are the Russian special forces. We don’t know a lot about them, which in the end is probably a very bad thing. From what we’ve heard about them, if you do ever think that you are in the vicinity of them, you are either going to die or going to be one hell of a lucky person to somehow get out alive. Trust me you definitely don’t want them to get a hold of you. Unless they are overwhelmed by numbers, their only equal will probably be the SAS and quite frankly we should really make sure they are there anyway covertly helping Ukrainian forces. Best case scenario would be to have a unit of them in Mariupol right now helping the fighters in the Azovstole steel work.

Judging by how the Russians have been fighting, if they find the SAS may God have mercy on their souls.
The SAS remain the Best in the world, (if Putin thinks his troops can hold their own against them he sadly mistaken). SAS can obtain invaluable intel, infiltrate; among a host of other missions while avoiding detection and without firing a single shot. They don't have to actively engage the enemy to be effective. I have worked and been trained by those guys, what makes them stand out is their mindset, they understand whats needed to be accomplished. Those who dare win...

The video was released just the other day from a night vision camera of them attacking some soldiers along the road and even attacking checkpoint. They didn’t hit many of the soldiers but they did kill a dog in the process. You see it being slammed to the ground just at the video cuts off. Makes sense if they were wanting to make any of their exploits public, they would want to cut it off at that point otherwise it’s not good for their image. Like they had to worry about that anyway. Unlike the SAS, they have a much more cruel reputation even though they are probably equal to the British Special Forces.

He wouldn’t say yes directly, but he mentioned about the Russian General that was killed parachuting into Ukraine. First, the fact of knowing which one was the General and two, what it would take for someone to make that shot considering altitude and the changes in wind direction to a moving target. He said there’s only two Special Force Operators that could make that shot, a SEAL sniper, and the USCG Drug Force sniper, and the USCG wouldn’t be on land. He said that if they’re there (with a clear of the throat sound), that they’d be dressed as Ukrainian citizens. Also, he went on to explain that if he was in the team THATS OVER there, that they would’ve went in at nighttime dressed as citizens when it was a commotion with people trying to evacuate on the Polish border.

I don't rate their chances. These guys hold the black belt in concealment, escape and evasion. I once had the privilege of chatting to a former 22 member, who served in Northern Ireland. He told me one story about how he spent several days hiding in a hole in the undergrowth in the garden of a house where a wanted IRA man lived. The house had been bugged, and the conversations within the house were being taped. They needed a crucial bit of information regarding where a weapons cache had been hidden. He eventually got the info....and the weapons cache was also found.... He said he almost got rumbled when the IRA man's dog pissed near the spot where he was hiding.....
It does not look to me that the SAS is involved at this moment - why? I would expect Russian forces to be would be hurting a great deal more if the SAS was involved.

They gained much covert experience in Northern Ireland, often infiltrating the IRA and other terror groups.... Irish accents were well honed prior to going out into the field, as it were. 14 INT employ voice/accent coaches to get those details right......

Yet they didn't change much in Iraq and Afghanistan. Special ops units with their often dramatic escapades rarely achieve much in terms of grand strategy. Rather its the grunt work of the regular soldiers that brings about "liberation" or occupation. These SAS are nothing more than glorified terrorists and thugs.
Special forces are everywhere in the conflict of this scale , covertly and overtly...those guys live for this. They do it even for free just to get the adrenaline. There hasn't been a war of this magnitude in a century, this is a lifetime opportunities to test their skills.

I guess that, if SAS exist in Ukraine, they are not current member of SAS force, but just ex-SAS members, who volunteered to help Ukraine side as military trainer or adviser. Such case does not considered as official participation of UK military into the war.

That training is also likely from experience in the northern half of my country. The SAS and British intelligence spent 30 years and hundreds of billions of pound fighting an insurgency in Northern Ireland. What they need is to make contact with their now rather old foes... and train Ukraine to carry out insurgency inside Russia. I'm happy to see this has already begun with resources inside Russia being taken out.
But a small army of 1,000 to 3,000 like the IRA or UDA is not enough in this case... they need 100k - 200k operatives completely fucking up Russian logistics, comms and military assets inside Russia. BIG scale...

I think they all got pulled out when the invasion happened and then went back in a few weeks ago. I think the fact that the Russians are complaining about it now is just them blowing smoke. They already know that for years Ukrainian troops were being trained, whether it was the SAS or not, who knows, but there’s nothing solid here and ironically, if it were true, something Putin himself would do. The issue is - in terms of resources - whole "eastern wing" of NATO except for hungary essentialy decided to throw everything including kitchen sink against Russian in ukraine.
Poland alone sent in 100 T72s... Czech Republic (pride) has dumped virtually all unused reserves in direction of ukraine, with virtually all private manufactures going in for those dollars ukraine has been given with the Vampyr MRLS and DANA howitzers which were retired to be resold.
Finland, Sweden, Italy, France, Spain, Britain... virtually everyone in Europe but Germany, Hungary and Serbia has decided to chip in to ruin Russian day :D

quite frankly with current destruction of Russian hardware and the sanctions for microelectronics imposed on Russia its not likely to rebuild what it already lost in decade at least.
that means - no weapon exports to enemies... in essence- NATO has vested interest for Putin to loose as badly as possible and not deploy a single own soldier or active duty unit.
Its one thing thats very proffitable for all western weapons industries and frankly - the explodium design of russian weapons show why noone should buy those anyway :D
