You two are on an amazing journey together. Thanks for taking me along via video, I enjoy all of your experiences and adventures. Olon looks heavenly on so many levels.Cheer to you both, so much fun.
Last time I visited Ec I lived on fruit and seafood, so abundant and plentiful. How Can it get any better than that? ❤️, great vid. Thanks and keep enjoying. Our best to you.
Thanks for watching. At some point we will do a video on crime. It is a very complex issue and we need a few more months here to learn more. What I can say today is we feel no different here then we felt in Canada. Kris walks a 5km beach by herself on a regular basis. No issues. Having said that Ecuador does have a growing crime issue which does concern us. However it at this point has no effect on our daily lives.
I visit regularly from salinas, and stayed in olon a couple of times times February and olon felt really safe to me just walking around. As mentioned in the video there really are a noticeable number of people from other countries. Can't feel that same level of safe feeling in salinas. Too spread out, too many virtually deserted areas, and to a certain extent too little enforcement of simple law of no two men on motorcycle
Nice video, thanks. Is Olon sunny normally or has it a lot of overcast? The video looks sunny, is that normal and general. We don’t like heavy and lengthy overcast.
Great question. Thanks for watching 👍. No its not like that all year around. Half the year only. The rest is cloudy ,misty and more cool. We will be doing a video Soon on choosing what climate is right for you.
The funny thing is the descriptions of the season don't really match the north America view. For us here on the coast now this is the summer, dry season or off season. Winter is much hotter on the coast and is called the wet season or high season. So from Dec to June it's highs of about 30c and most rain comes and night with sun during the day. Just beautiful weather for us Canadians. Also summer or dry season is mostly cloudy. Not much sun with highs of 25 or 26 and lows of 21 or 22C. We like both. Kris prefers the summer perhaps. At least this first year.
Enjoyed the video. Trying to deceide where to move and Olon area seems to be my wibe. Seen some motorcycles on the beach. Is it allowed to drive a motorcycle or moped on the beach or are they just doing it anyway?
Thanks for watching. It really depends on what you mean by swimmable. It is not flat and calm ever in this area. Always some waves and lots of good surfing waves. A good part of the time. Having said that, people are in the water regularly including kids by the shore, enjoying all the big waves coming in. Yes, the year is basically split into two since we were here in January. We've only had about two cloudy days per month and the rest has been mostly sunny and very warm. It was just beautiful. The other half of the year is exactly as he describe. Basically cloudy misty with very little sun. Some people find that a huge issue and if they haven't done their research ahead of time and this comes as a surprise to them they will move away from the area. One of the reasons we moved here is all of the lushness and the green that is around here with so much nature. Of course that comes at a cost of less sun. If you want more sun then you need to go north to manta or south to Salinas. However, they are in semi desert areas and have very little vegetation. Really depends on what you want and it's an individual decision. Take care
Very interesting thank you. Ecuador is very appealing for many reasons, the first being they rejected CBDCs which are coming down the time which will make life a hell. I worry about crime as I have a 18 year old daughter and we are on our own. But, London UK in general becoming a nightmare with migration not stopping and more serious crimes not being reported, it seems to be happening globally.

Hey thanks for watching. Kris is asleep now. Lol. Ya we are loving it. Can't wait for Amy to get back and hear about all her adventures.
What a great place to live! Thanks for the video, guys.
Thanks for watching 👍
I love your home, but I really like that you show different places and the natural beauty of the area. Thanks for great videos!
Thanks very much 👍.

New to the show . Thanks its fun
Thanks for watching 👍
Love your journey. Me and my wife will be on the same journey soon. What's your thoughts on safety?

You've been there awhile, now. Its 'winter' in EC now. What are the cycles of the weather ? temps? dry , wet, wind. ...your favorite ???

Hello and thank you for your great videos!! I've relocated to Ecuador and currently in Salinas. How can I find rentals other than Airbnb?
Thanks. I am not entirely sure about Salinas but try their local Facebook group as well as Facebook marketplace.
Enjoyed the video. Trying to deceide where to move and Olon area seems to be my wibe.
Seen some motorcycles on the beach. Is it allowed to drive a motorcycle or moped on the beach or are they just doing it anyway?
Because the beach is so flat and walkable a small amount of fishing trucks and smaller motor cycles use it. Most are not supposed to.
@@KrisandMike ok but you won’t get a ticket if you use the beach to take a dirt bike or 4-wheeler to town?
@@magnusb6311 no I don't think so. Not enforced to my knowledge
Is it a swimmable beach? Also do you have 6 months of cloudy weather?

Thank you for the video. Do you know approximately how many restaurants are located in Olon?
Thanks for watching 👍. Hmm good question. At least 20. Many come and go. Others open just at night or weekends.
is there a vietnamese restaurant in any of the area ?
Not that we are aware of but many restaurants come and go. There may be one in Montanita. It has many more restaurants.

Thanks for watching. The crime situation is very complex. One of our next videos will be our take on crime here.
