This feels like the most unusual rag I have played by Charles Hunter. I did not know why until I looked it up and found out that it is quite strange because he changed the key from G minor to D flat to F to B flat (with the G minor section repeating in the middle and the end). It is one of his last compositions and probably named Back to Life because he was feeling better after being sick for a long time. Unfortunately he did not live very long after publishing it.
Leander God has gifted you with special talents from Heaven above. That's why most people find you amazing cuz they never seen a miracle boy like you before. You bless me every time I see and hear you play such beautiful music 🎶❤️ Remember to say Thank you to God 🙏 in your prayers 🙏😇👼 Wonderful things will come of your life sweetheart and your family will benefit too. God richly bless you and your family 💖 love you guys from Florida USA 🥳🥰
Leander you could play with your eyes closed I,m sure, when you look away from the Piano your fingers know exactly where to go…your timing & coordination is unreal…it is always so thrilling & a great joy to watch you play…enjoy the journey.
Hi Leander another nice piece, thank you. As well as enjoying your playing, I like the little bits of history you tell us about the pieces you play. Your enthusiasm for playing rags is teaching me that the genre is more rich than I thought!
Yes -- the harmonic sequence is unique -- nicely played! My goodness! If you can remember and play all of the songs you've learned and played here -- you could easily fill out a complete afternoon's performance!
I can still play all of the songs in my videos. It would take 3 hours to play all of them without stopping but I think I would get tired and have to eat some food
@@aBachwardsfellowSometimes I play them but not all at once. Many of them I can play better than when I made the video. I can play Dill Pickle Rag very well now.
@Leander-piano Isn't it amazing how our brains keep learning pieces even after we stop playing them! So when you come back to them they're even better than before! Your piano sounds better now -- how do you like it?
Leander, that was fun to hear, and looks like fun to play. Your choices of music are really interesting and I love listening and watching you play. I wish I could do that, too! 🤗 Jerry
Thanks for the explanations about the piece. Besides playing the piano so well both Rag and classical, you have such a love for the instrument and the music. I love how you research things and post them.
I haven't heard you play any rags by the great Joseph Lamb, who was a protégé of Scott Joplin. "Ragtime Nightingale" might be a little long for your channel, but I would recommend his "American Beauty" rag to you as something you could do a bang-up job on. Keep up the good work!
Brilliant! One of your best, I think. These toes are a-tappin’ as I head out in the cold to go to work. “Deedle de boom de do, doodle do beem dee dee, bum dee bum dee dee dum… yeah!” 😊
I'm still wondering how you got to be so good? What age did you start playing, how old are you now, who taught you, what country do you live in (Germany?) etc. 👍
I started trying to play before I could talk but I did not have a teacher but I will soon have a teacher to help me learn better. I think I am good at learning songs because I like to play piano so much so I have had a lot of practice. I live in the United States of America but I know how to speak German because I learned it since I was a baby because my Oma was German
Not only was the "D" repaired, but they gave you a tuning to boot. Great performance. Gershwin would have been proud of you for not overusing the sustain pedal. Apparently, he never used it. Watch your wrists - don't let them get too high. Keep up the wonderful playing, Leander!
Thank you for telling me that. I did not know that about Gershwin. A lot of times I like to play without the pedal. I will try to hold my wrists better.
Yay! That was a great song. I hope I'm a relative of Charles, because I enjoy every song of his that you've played. It would have been nice if I could have gotten some of his musical aptitude. If it weren't for you, Leander, I would probably never have heard of him. Keep up the good work! By the way, I can see a little bit with my right eye now, so I think the recovery is progressing as it should. 😄
Hi Leander again. So wonderful to hear and watch this piece being played by you! It's not an easy one and you focused on what a lot of us would find impossible to do!!! Congratulations!!!
Leander, I also enjoy listening to your music. Your smiles are looking better as not just a put on. As above , I wonder when you started playing piano (you know it was accordion at 11 for me). My guess as where you are ( I see trees with leaves on, a cactus there so it has to be warmer than Oregon). Keep up the music coming to us.
I am usually happy when I am playing but I only smile when I am extra happy at a part of the song. That is why in some videos I smile but in some videos I don't smile. But even when I am not smiling I like to play piano. I started trying to play when I was really little before I could talk. I think it is really interesting that you learned accordion. I forgot if you still like to play accordion.
@@Leander-piano There are your polite smiles, and your spontaneous smiles. And thank you for both. I went back and watched some of your older videos, including one that made you sad. I nearly cried. You are obviously sensing the emotion that the composer put into the music.
The 120 base accordion was to big for me as it was my sister's. I went to piano and my grade school teacher taught me. Then in high school, a professional teacher. Then I went to Dr. Martin Luther Teacher College as a divinity student. Required to study pipe organ. I mostly play Hymns on my Hamond Organ at home now. You are special as God has given you this amazing talent. Wish I could meet you some time💒

That's a sad story 😕 But good that he kept writing music while he was able.
I can hear that actually. Interesting rag. Most didn’t change a lot with the key changes.

Learnder you confuse me with all that 🎼 talk but I listen, watch and love it all.❤
Well all I can say is thanks for bringing it back to life. Your observation of key changes reminds me of Schubert's late music.
You got your key fixed!
I was just thinking the same thing, lol.👍🏻👍🏻
One of my subscribers came and fixed it for me
I noticed that too! I was so happy he was able to get it fixed. 😊

What joy you bring Leander...😊.... Nice job you make it look so easy
Some of the songs are easy and sometimes they are hard
Leander, you put player pianos to shame! 💪😁👍
That is a nice thing for you to say.
Hey Big L. You nailed that one. Perfect rhythm, no missed notes, fun to watch and hear. Nice job!😊❤
You are fantastic, Leander! Your skills simply continue to amaze me. ❤❤❤

I'll try to beat you next time 😊
Bravo!
Thankyou talented barefoot Learnder a delightful display of your genuine love of the piano 🎹 you are a dream come true. 💙👍
Dear Leander, you play this one especially well. Your fingers dance over the keys effortlessly. What a genius you are!
Leander is clearly enjoying his newly tuned piano. He's the complete package.

Thank you for playing for us Leander. It makes for another special moment in time.
Great job! Love that intro with the stops👍 the piano is sounding very rich in the mid range. So cool !
Yes the intro is very interesting.
The piano sounds much better since Jeremy Borum helped fix it.
