Thank you for doing this video! I've been trying to decide between HOB and drilled overflow boxes, but it's not easy to find videos about the HOB boxes. Seeing this helped me make up my mind. I didn't want to drill my established tank and risk glass getting into the water, but the self siphoning is what I was worried about. Now I know what I need to look for in a HOB overflow. I'm going to be adding a sump on my 40 breeder reef tank
Nice job ! Years ago in the 60’s we use to submerge the u tube and then cap both ends. The caps had sticks on the side so you could push them off once installed. In the 70’s we drilled the top of the u tube and installed an air line check valve. You then installed an air line which allowed you to daily remove any air bubbles if they occurred . Now they sell a lift pump but that’s overkill. Just keep the air hose submerged when under normal use should the check valve leak over time.
Did you try the overflow box? I also have the same issue with a tempered glass 125. Do u think it’s safe to run a sump? I’m thinking of using an aqua lifter pump! Share your experience if possible.
I use these overflows on my 120 Gal Monster Red Severum tank. People always talk about the overflow U-tubes losing siphon and being a risk. I’ve had the tank running for 6 years and never had an issue. Like you said, with tempered glass, there is no option to drill. Maybe move the freshwater input to the other side of the tank if possible?
Yeah it’s going to work well. The reason That I went this way was because I wanted to utilize my automatic water change system. When I need to do a major water change water will come out of the tap next to the overflow. But when it’s on the automatic water change system the lines are going to be on the other side of the tank so the freshwater will be coming in on the other side of the tank so I don’t have anything to worry about there
This helped so much in setting up my dads new 72gal bowfront. His old one was predrilled and needless to say almost obsolete. I'm just trying to figure out where to put a check valve now in case he looses power. Great video!!
Eshopps HOB overflows aren't bad but I really like the CPR Aquatic HOB overflows better...their design ensures less chance of siphon loss IMO. Great vide as usual!
Hello Buddy ... I was checking on some ways to flow aquarium water into sump that I'm trying to introduce to my freshwater monster fish aquarium ... (300 gallon) and bumped into your videos ...I saw your other diy PVC overflow video as well .. question is (maybe silly one ) .. it really helps to clean water ? Because water will go to overflow from top level and how about dirt that is lying on the (bare) bottom of tank? It looks more like a skimmer than a filter ??
Hi. If you have the input water hose down in the tank the new water pushes from the bottom up. I haven't had any issues. You do have to vacuum the waste.
I need a fish room. My wife doesn’t like it when I tell her I want to install water lines and air lines along the top of the walls in the family room....
Eric you asked the wrong question. You should've asked her opinion on some really nice wide crown molding for the house. Real intention is to then hide the water and air lines behind it.
Hey Andy, that’s there for major water changes. On the other side of the tank I am going to have my automatic water change line come in so that is going to be on the opposite side of the overflow which is about 90% of the water changes
But you fulfill what you extract direct with overflow.. Nice presentation but not sure this is optimal. Better, and maybe easier, would be pump on timer, e.g. 1h per night, put water out of the tank, then automatic top off from you water line. No dilution, better tank water quality for volume water changed... ;-)

Very good Paul! You are certainly very good at putting things together! 😀👍
Thanks Paul! I appreciate it. They work perfectly! And are still working perfectly.

Thanks for sharing Joe. That is a great idea to cap it pre install.
@@inventoryking welcome, hope it helps.
Don’t give up my friend you make great videos!
Hey Devon, thank you! I will be back soon
Awesome video you are really good at that stuff ... makes it look easy👍🏻
Thanks!!
Great video and explanation/showing how the siphon tubes stay primed 👍🏽
Many thanks!
inventoryking I got mine up and running now, no issues and stays primed 👍🏽
Awesome. I want to run a sump on my 125 but don't want to drill my tank. Hope to use something like this
It has worked great for my water change system

Like everything else, it’s the way you use it and maintain it.

Great vide as usual!
Thank you very much.
Braddah this over flow box video was awesome it all made sense to me great detailed video braddah 🤙🏽🐠🌺🐠🤙🏽
Thanks Braddah!! They are so nice, it works perfectly.
Good system aquarium fish
Thanks for watching.
A DIY overflow stand pipe woud work also found on Joey diy .
Yup. I did a diy before
Very cool video..that's a cool product
Hi Lacey! Thanks for watching. It has worked out perfectly!
HAPPY Father's Day weekend boss 😎😎
Have a good one man
Where did you get your pvc fittings?
What size pump do you use for this?
Cool video I've thought about this way but I would need about 20 overflows 🤯🤯🤯
Thanks man
Are you using this for waterchanges only and not a sump?
Water changes only
Great video. Very informative
My appreciated!
any issues yet with the U tube losing siphon ?
Nice and simple 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺👍
Yup!
I have syringe that fits 1:4 air line and I use that start the syphon
Nice
FYI there's no s in ehopps. But I love your videos 👍
Nah its Eshopps per the website.
Thank you for supporting the channel

Question. Would that overflow work with a 60gallon cube tank?
It should work with any tank as long as your inlet is putting out less than it can handle
Which one would you recommend for a 360 gal tank?
The biggest one. I would confirm the ratings on the overflows to be sure.
Looks great 👍🏾
Thank you Mike
Is it pretty quiet? I want an overflow box but I want it to be quiet as possible, any tips?
I dont think its loud, although my fish room isnt quiet, lol
Where do u get that lid
DIY lid from corrugated plastic sheets
Nice!!!
Yessir!
My 5ank is a glass brace can I still use this
do you have room on the side?
Where did you get the stands for the tanks?
The stands for the 125s were built by a friend. I built the stand for the 75s and I bought the stands for the 40 breeders from home depot.
What return pump gph are you using to compensate for that 300 gph flow rate on that eshopps overflow
My question exactly. The 300 g flow is a bottleneck for a big cichlid tank and most big tanks.
I am using this as an overflow for water changes only.
I am using this as an overflow for water changes only.
I prefer water in on one side to push old water out on the other side.
Hi, That is for major water changes. I have since hooked up my auto water change system where the water comes in on the other side.
Hey, what the max flow rate?
Hey I actually never checked.
It's odd eschopps has the silly tube to "suck" on vs a air valve reducer...just seems silly to have people do that plus it's unsanitary over time.
The plumbing cement though 😫
4:51 FEED ME!
LOL
I need a fish room. My wife doesn’t like it when I tell her I want to install water lines and air lines along the top of the walls in the family room....
Hahahaha!! Yeah you need a fish room
Eric you asked the wrong question. You should've asked her opinion on some really nice wide crown molding for the house. Real intention is to then hide the water and air lines behind it.
I would put the hob overflow on the opposite side because on that side it looks like all the fresh water is draining out of the overflow
Hey Andy, that’s there for major water changes. On the other side of the tank I am going to have my automatic water change line come in so that is going to be on the opposite side of the overflow which is about 90% of the water changes
inventoryking ahhh gotcha! Looking good!!
Thanks!

Thanks for watching.
Wish the hardware was black and didn’t look like it came with a new toilet seat
What looks like a new toilet seat to you? I am curious
@@inventoryking the white plastic hardware. Should be black. Looks like the type of hardware, except smaller that toilet seats are held on with.
M
You look just like Justin Roiland.
LOL! I have got Zach Galifianakis as well
What a mess.
