  • The relearn procedure resets the adaptive mode of the transmission and re-calibrates the shift time. Not following the relearn procedure properly, can lead to premature transmission wear or even catastrophic transmission damage.

I understand this. But my question is how does the manufacturer do a transmission learn 🤔

My mechanic replaced my valve body and solenoid pack, and did not do the quick learn procedure, this was about 200 miles ago, is there any benefit from trying to do it now/?

How did you guys get the mechanical gauge inside the cab? How did you hook it up to the transmission?

We had our 98RFE transmission rebuilt, husband installed it, took to a diesel shop to get relearned. Shop said: the brake pedal is not recognized when initiating the relearn - (relearn failed). ANY idea of what this could be? We are thinking something electrical, but have been unable to find anything.

Hi there! Thanks for the question. This would be a truck issue. It could be a failing brake pedal switch, but it really should be diagnosed by a qualified shop. The Quick Learn will not initiate unless the ECM sees the park brake set, the brake pedal pressed, and the shifter in park with the engine idling.

I just purchased your guys 68RFE transmission with torque converter and billet input shaft. Apparently I need to do the relearn process after installation and I need a scan tool to do it. What’s the best cheap relearn scanner to buy that will work for a 2018 Ram3500? Thanks

Hi there, your manual that came with the transmission should outline which scanner is required. Should be on page 4

@@BDDieselPerformance for the people that couldn’t quite understand some of the words in the video. Please tell us which ones will do the relearn. That way it’s in text form. Wished it would have been put into the description.

@@machaf Beg to differ amigo..... 240k miles on both stock tuning, then moved to an H&S and now EFILive tuner. I tow quite often also. I upgraded to Castrol synthetic fluid and YES, I do normal pan drains and no issues. I think many of the "horror" stories about this transmission is based on hot dogging it, high tunes with no specific trans tunes to match or just simply not taking care of your vehicle. I know a few others who have or are close to 350k and above with no issues or rebuilds.
