When MTV was good and playing music. I remember being a wee-lad and listening to "Lap Of Luxury" on my sister's bright-yellow Sony "Sports" Walkman, and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Wasn't till a while later, when I got into Cheap Trick's back-catalogue and discovered how badass these guys really are.
Exactly! Tom wasn't trying that much to do a solo on the bass. It was just a extended into of Auf Wiedersehen, which was better then the live shows in the past or on the CD.
Tom's really good on at what he does within the context of Cheap Trick's sound. He's essential to their sound; let's put it that way. At the same time, he shouldn't ever play a alone like this--not for more than a moment. The instrument doesn't lend itself to the traditional "rock solo" a guitarist or drummer would take. Just as Rick wouldn't take a backing vocal solo--and his weirdo chipmunky harmonies are also essential to the whole. Might as well dump "I Know What I Want" as long as we're at it. Love the band--just saying.
The real Cheap Trick!

Bun E. Carlos looks like a high school science teacher. ..That could play the hell out of a drum kit!
I remember seeing this concert on MTV way back when and wanting a Hamer electric 12 string like Robin's.
Kick-ass...as usual!!
Only complaint is that it's not longer... Great American Rock Band.
