I'd still put Zeku in 5-Star. Yeah he's got some wacky stuff that's somewhat easy to abuse, but it doesn't the fact that Zeku is still asking you to learn and be godlike with 2 characters at the same time in a game where people dedicate a lot of time and effort just to be proficient with just one character. Both characters individually are half a character though, not a whole. Zekus difficulty is WAY overrated. Linking the two characters moves together with a transform takes like 10 minutes to learn. There is a lot to learn but none of it is really hard to execute. Individually they are both about a 2 1/2 star to learn.
@@JonathonTheAsshole So the sum of learning both forms would be a 4, right? (I mean, 2.5 + 2.5 would be a 5, but I ain't going to be that guy and assume you meant for Zeku as a whole to be a 4-3 Star in difficulty) I can settle for that, but let's say (hypothetically speaking) Zeku had 1 or even both of his V-Triggers be hard to use or at least take some practice to use properly. Would that be enough to push him into 5-Star properly or still no?
Ed has easy execution but he struggles against most of the cast. His game plan is very hard to execute, he has stubby normals, all of his specials are easy to react to, his v triggers are not that good, his whiff punish game is weak. In my opinion he is like a 2.5. I would even say three if you put falke at three because i think falke is easier.
These guys talk about confirms and shit when the list is literally about easiest character to play. Dude, people who need this list cant even combo. Or play with charge characters, or even know when to block.
Guile I would actually say has a low 3 star Skill floor in that Guile is easy if you're playing SFV fundamentally well and are consistently able to use his tools well. If you're a brand new player, and are just trying to spam and get wins he's bad. Very bad, like you should choose another character. Guile however I think is a good choice to teach somebody fundamentals and how to think about the game while being good enough it'll start being noticeable as you level up. He'll teach you execution on charge inputs, how to space your normals, when to play defensive and offensive. His V Triggers become substantially more useful as you get more consistent. He's not easy out the gate like a lot of chatacters he was grouped with, he takes a mindset that wants to actually learn to play the game.
What really stuck out is how little y’all know about Gief. Using VT2? “he can combo his normals into SPD, right?” Like... what? The latter is true only on CC or VT2 (w huge scaling). I don’t even disagree with three stars - once you can standing SPD, you’re cooking w grease, and that ain’t THAT hard. But the fact some great players of the game still don’t know what one of the RELEASE characters does, lmao. Tells you he ain’t been a real threat for a while (at least not on the east coast, west coast has dannypham and snake)
Mika should have a zone of her own. She’s easy to execute but a lot of matchups are unplayable or incredibly difficult. The problem is she’s just a 50/50 character. When you’re acting like you won’t get command grabbed and you do it always feels like you’re getting cheaped out.
They are right about the divekicks, but you can also be yolo with them but you also need them to mess up your opponents anti airs and open and mix them up due to cammy not having an official overhead, cammy is imcomplete with them so you have to risk it, shimmy and cammy grappler mix ups become predictable you can't afford to fail with cammy because two or three mix ups you'll be dead. She has a lot of good pokes for neutral and for pressure and anti air, just like most of hight tiers. Just my humble opinion.
I cant play any character in this game but Laura, A little bit of Abigail, and a little bit of R Mika, Poison, and A little bit of Ed. Everyone else is extremely complicated to execute with.
I never have played SFV but I always watch Smug’s videos on this game. I’ve been considering buying a PlayStation 4 just to play Street Fighter. Is it worth it??
From experience I wouldn’t. Unless you play this style of fighting games already, and are comfortable with controls in you fingers. The combos smug does looks cool but they are difficult to actually pull of if you aren’t use to doing combos and confirms.
Ideally get the PC version. Netcode is better. Less freezes and delay offline and it just generally runs and looks better. Find a cheap 5 or 600 laptop or PC and go nuts
As a Urien mainer.... I sorta agree. His normals are easy ideally but you gotta know how to play his mid range game and know when to steal turns in closer quarters . Aegis VT1 for me puts him at a 5 in usage cause pros and high levels who use him makes his aegis tech look easy but those shits are way more skill required if you want the max out of them. Lower ranks will stick to basics on VT1. Plus Balrog is at least a 3 and a low 4 max. Charge characters like Rog and Urien are more complicated to use unlike Guile who is the easiest of chargers to learn and use since his moves are straightforward and less tech to pull off for best damage. Guile deserves to be a 2 or a 1.
@SpiteHook i play Guile as well others ....yeah he has few tricky techs but he is more straightforward wise then rest of chargers and isnt that difficult for a rookie to get several ranks up with him and not even know any tricky combo tech and guile doesnt need them anyway.
@@GamingCentralTV1 but how much are you a real beginner tho? I can go on a 20 win streak with Rog even tho i would be at beginner level using him. Its not many Rogs at the lowest ranks at rookie to super bronze and so they wouldnt know how to deal with a Rog user who can do a lil work with him even if a beginner level. Noob level is more like new to FGs period...beginners are casuals who got a lil FG knowledge at least.
@@dacromgodofsmacketh1232 fair, yeah I started with balrog, switched to gill, than finally settled with guile. Balrog does the most damage out the 3 and his vtriggers are so simple. The advanced combos are difficult, but befinners arent going to be pulling off advanced combos with most of the cast. I found balrog very easy to use, but charge characters easily can have a star of difficulty added if used with arcade sticks
Issue is ya’ll have cheap mixed with east. Imo just cause you got a cheap or gimmicky move doesn’t mean it’s easy to play that character. Is their playstyle/game easy or is their execution easy? It’ll take a new player way longer to get to diamond with Ryu or Kage than they would with say Cammy. Imagine a new player trying to learn Zeku lol You think there route is gonna be easier than a Chun? It’s just weird when you talk about what’s east or hard. Imo I’ve seen some of these “hard” characters in diamond that have no understanding of neutral or even have a game plan other than flowcharting lol
Idk if I would recommend dhalsim to someone starting to play the game... It might seem like those limbs can get free wins but if the opposing player has any idea about neutral and whiff punishing, they definitely won't be having fun
People love to overhype sim cuz he has 3/4 screen normals but his optimal stuff is extremely hard to do compared to other characters. I already hard set playing him so he’s easy for me to “use” but good players have a field day if I’m not doing tech like proper space dive kick and Instant air gales.
Not sure why smug is so anti dhalsim or even shine. Both usually body dhalsims from the matches I’ve seen. Only like 3 dhalsim in the world give them trouble..
He's more difficult because he can't ever just ignore the opponents gameplan. You always have to know what the enemy is trying to do. Ken and Kage can hit a point in the match where they're just gonna do what they're gonna do and you have to hold it
@@Tinfoiltomcat yeah bang on. Dont get me wrong there are very good ryu players that can hold their own, but they are a long stretch. Ken and kage players that are "less" skilled seem to get way more mileage out of those characters. With ryu you need to be like 2x alert to get the same results
Kage vt 1 combos require far more effort than any other character in the game. I dont know any other character that requires tigerknee inputs for optimal combos.
It's funny what you said about Dhalsim,.. but he deffo isn't easy to play at a high level. He is easy at a very beginner level, but if he was that easy everyone would be playing him.. but they ain't. The shoto's have the easiest gameplay style... most of the people online play that kind of rushdown / throw strategy.
Man so many people hate Gill. Not even that hard to find his oki and the damage loss isnt even that bad. Its like a light punch tops. so many people cappin
Raging Demon and Dragon Punch Teleport Loops... Yeah... He's definitely hard to learn and play...he's also hard to win with because of his Stubby Normals :O !!!
Please sync your voice volumes better next time and in the one star row I think you put the characters from left=easiest to right=hardest and in the five star row it was reversed, but otherwise this was an entertaining video 👍 P.S. Gill in the same tier pick-up difficulty tier as Ryu and Falke? A what?
Bison is prty honest and balanced. His 1 at low very low level gold to platinum. His 2 Diamond to ultra , 3 master to ultra master , warlord in my opinion is a 4. understanding his weakness and the match up forces bison players to play soild. Ant air airing is a pain. He takes alot of skills in a high level
The only changes I would have made are ruy is a 2, ken and kage are 3, and zeku is a 5 and Dhalsim is a 2 because, all reasons stem around how hard combos are to do with each of them vs how much damage they can do or damage taken when hit.
"Nash's combos aren't hard to do" Here's a challenge; do ex tragedy assault in the corner and link into VT2 kick follow up. See how many times you can get it.
Yall said Akuma, EXdemonflip, air fireball, 3 stars and moved on. So this a meme tier list ok ok ok. I don’t play Akuma too much work. He has more options than a tekken character and you need to learn them all to win with his no health. That’s 3 stars? Nah.
As a Laura main myself, I can say the she's very easy to use for beginners but she has terrible range. Any zoning character can easily beat her. She's at least 2 stars.
Poison is 1 star and like i said i dont play like that, because that zig zag, charge, and mash into combo stuff not my thing. You need a arcade stick not a controller.
If the developers were more accommodating to new players in SFV they would have sold the game with a high chair and sippy cup so you didn’t spill your food

Would that be enough to push him into 5-Star properly or still no?
Accurate take on Oro: "We don't know enough yet". He might be a six.
49:06 You can tell smug is the only truthfull person. The rest are talking out of hate and not actually thinking.
Agreed bro agreed…
This should have been his list
1:02:33 I love that Shine manages to gas up Smug while bashing Balrog for being mad easy at the same time
Loved the balrog part😹
Ed has easy execution but he struggles against most of the cast. His game plan is very hard to execute, he has stubby normals, all of his specials are easy to react to, his v triggers are not that good, his whiff punish game is weak. In my opinion he is like a 2.5. I would even say three if you put falke at three because i think falke is easier.
His lack of an overhead really hurts him
These guys talk about confirms and shit when the list is literally about easiest character to play. Dude, people who need this list cant even combo. Or play with charge characters, or even know when to block.
Only things I'd correct is put Lucia, Gill, and Rose at 4, Ryu and Akuma at 2 and Zangief, and Kage at 3.
These tier lists are so satisfying. Thanks bro
Not all Honda players mash! I've been a Honda main since sf4, I remember learning to piano and sitting in class tapping my fingers on the desk.
Alex has a 160 back throw like zeku just throwing that out there
Mika should have a zone of her own.
So Menat, Dan, Zeku, Sagat, g, Oro, Fang, and Ibuki are my new mains now :)
I'm glad Gief made it to the end of the video with all the top tier characters.
I cant play any character in this game but Laura, A little bit of Abigail, and a little bit of R Mika, Poison, and A little bit of Ed. Everyone else is extremely complicated to execute with.
Chun li and rose aren't to bad
great video, I watched the whole thing and I don't even really play this game. Thinking about messing around with some honda or dhalsim now though :D
I never have played SFV but I always watch Smug’s videos on this game. I’ve been considering buying a PlayStation 4 just to play Street Fighter. Is it worth it??
The game is also on steam, if you have a pc
i would not say buying a ps4 JUST to play sfv is worth it but ps4/ps5 has plenty of games that are good including sfv
From experience I wouldn’t. Unless you play this style of fighting games already, and are comfortable with controls in you fingers. The combos smug does looks cool but they are difficult to actually pull of if you aren’t use to doing combos and confirms.
I'd say it's worth it if some other exclusive titles like GOW pique you're interest
Keep in mind this tier list is for beginers. I literally had a 10 game win streak with rog spamminv jab and dash straight......
Newbie Zeku players are smart. They only play one Zeku and then he's easy
How did my ass who started playing 2 months ago know Honda Hands is +2 and Smug the GOAT didn't?
You guys are awesome, I laughed so much.
I love these type of videos but everyones audio is earrape levels of loud
Dhalsim can slap boxes dudes from across the street
Not sure why smug is so anti dhalsim or even shine. Both usually body dhalsims from the matches I’ve seen. Only like 3 dhalsim in the world give them trouble..
Birdie isn't one star
He has negative edge move that takes a long time to get comfortable with. Not for a new player IMO
3 stars
Facts
1 star.
Ryu being more difficult to play than ken and kage seems a stretch. If anything ryu is 2 stars and ken and kage are 3 stars
I appreciate G in 4 stars but Kage in 2 y’all are crazy that character requires nasty hands
I agree completely. I can barely pull of his trial combos
@@mutedmutiny9542 wtf. What’s your rank?
Agreed bruh
Kage vt 1 combos require far more effort than any other character in the game. I dont know any other character that requires tigerknee inputs for optimal combos.
@@wryy I’m low rank but I can pull off everyone else’s combos pretty easily. Kage’s have always been a pain in the ass for me.
I love Blanka.
As a Dan user, people don't understand how hard he is to use... doesn't mean that he is bad, just that you will work for your win... unlike Balrog...
wow thats crazy
And here i am trying to find ideas what to play next because i'm finding it hard to optimize with yoga gale
Lmao this Yogaman slander is caaaap! You drop 1 TK port and it’s a L 😂
Exactly. This couldnt have been more biased.
Zeku sHK is airborne on frames 9-19, so it usually blows up delayed techs. You'd have to tech very early to throw that.
It's not
I'm glad they put Ken in 3 cause having to hit confirm 14 cancelable frame move isn't easy, and his 17frame cancelable crmk is stubby af
I guess SMUG will be giving people “the agony of DE FEET” with Honda soon
It's funny what you said about Dhalsim,.. but he deffo isn't easy to play at a high level.
He is easy at a very beginner level, but if he was that easy everyone would be playing him.. but they ain't.
The shoto's have the easiest gameplay style... most of the people online play that kind of rushdown / throw strategy.
If Abagail was easy, shine would be playing him
Man so many people hate Gill. Not even that hard to find his oki and the damage loss isnt even that bad. Its like a light punch tops.
so many people cappin
Yeah Smug you're the most deserving of any win you get. Just relax smile and start cooking. Everytime you tense up get serious you lose more.
Smug trying to defend Balrog was the funniest shit 🤣
None of these guys know anything about Kage lmao
Right. V-Trigger I is really hard to use property
Same, bruh.
Raging Demon and Dragon Punch Teleport Loops... Yeah... He's definitely hard to learn and play...he's also hard to win with because of his Stubby Normals :O !!!
Please sync your voice volumes better next time and in the one star row I think you put the characters from left=easiest to right=hardest and in the five star row it was reversed, but otherwise this was an entertaining video 👍
"Nash's combos aren't hard to do"
Here's a challenge; do ex tragedy assault in the corner and link into VT2 kick follow up.
Nah.
Bro I'm assuming you sat through like half of the tier list before you rage quit.
As a Laura main myself, I can say the she's very easy to use for beginners but she has terrible range. Any zoning character can easily beat her. She's at least 2 stars.
that dude on the left kept checking if his camera is on lmao
Poison is 1 star and like i said i dont play like that, because that zig zag, charge, and mash into combo stuff not my thing. You need a arcade stick not a controller.
Smug with crispiest of line ups
Gs the best a very good character my favorite
Let's see if smug tier list a lines with Punk😂
But isnt like any character easy to pick up for these guys?
I think it would be more interesting to make this same tierlist with new players in mind
Street Fighter 5 is like the easiest sf game anyway
If the developers were more accommodating to new players in SFV they would have sold the game with a high chair and sippy cup so you didn’t spill your food
W breakdown
agree except Balrog and Dhalsim. I think both are about a 3 star and Dan about a 4.
These videos be fire man but sync y’all’s mics and sound up. You kinda low and homie on far left and Shine loud AF. I keep having change my volume lol. Good shit tho.
If smug hands you a controller. Do NOT TAKE IT.
Kage 2 stars ?? no range, stubby normals, tiger knee combos
There's a difference between easy and weak.
Kage's Both so it's a Moot Point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ infact... Akuma is slightly easier even if you decided to use the VT2 Shenanigans.
