ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

I love Purgatory, very underrated song in my opinion.
MrGollywock o un saludo, mis bendiciones
they need to play it live again
Di'Anno at his best..
One of my favorite songs of the Iron Maiden
I think so too 😊
Clive is a god with those drums!
Amen✌️
Long live Clive....
Don't hate on me for saying this but I prefer Clive to Nicko, they're both great in their own way but when I saw hallowed be thy name live with Clive it was breathtaking but for as much as I love Nicko I've never got that same energy, up the irons 🖤
Very underrated drummer. RIP Clive Burr
Clive Burr was a machine gun
Purgatory is a damn Masterpiece but i think Genghis khan is a way underrated.
I swear the first 2 albums are so raw and feel very street metal. This song is beyond cool
The best maiden's era.. Clive&Paul ❤
Can't agree more.
Purgatory IS one of the best Maiden songs
My top 3 Aces high is number 1 purgatory close second and killers very close 3rd
@@vladimirkraustok my man
almost the same probably@@vladimirkraustok
Purgatory is simply my favorite song of this incredible band
W pfp
That riff.
agree
Which one?
@@timg5011 5:30
They never had that same groove and feel after Clive left after TNOTB. The Killers album will always be my favorite Maiden. Loved his style of drumming.
agree man. Clive's playing was so powerful!
Mr,Timebomb man I like Clive`s drumming as well as Nicko`s I dont feel it need be a competition
He really pushed everyone including steve to play as fast and hard as possible
As a drummer trying to play, Wrathchild is almost impossible because of Clive feel everything else sounds wrong
Fully agree...The way Clive used to pay was a mix of power and technical and also very innovative at this time...I do not appreciate of Nicko is playing...with him the old songs as example do loose this kind of brutal energy.
Both songs are in my Iron Maiden top list! Although I love Bruce and all Maiden eras, this early Maiden style is unique! Up the Irons forever!!!!
You're goddamn right, man 🤘
NWOBHM in it´s purest form!
A unique mix of metal and punk that maiden never did again
@@endtyme😮n. N o ikb h y o 😅,,,a mano PP? T 😊8). Ok
No words to explain the 5:06 moment. Supernatural!!! Amazing song.
So glad I am not alone on this.
Yeah I love genghis khan
For me it's more from 5:31 onwards... One of those Maiden songs that takes you another dimension.
I've always thought the exact same thing. Transports you
sounds like last resort by papa roach 🤔
Purgatory
Thinking of an age, old dream
Places I have never seen
Fantasies lived times before
I split my brain, melt through the floor
Over clouds my mind will fly
Forever now, I can't think why
My body tries to leave my soul
Is it me, I just don't know?
Memories rising from the past
The future shadows overcast
Something's clutching at my head
Through the darkness I'll be led
Oh, another time, another place
Oh well, another smile on another face
When you see me floating up beside you
You get the feeling that all my love's inside of you
Please, take me away
Take me away
So far away
Please, take me away
Take me away
So far away
Please, take me away
Take me away
So far away
Thinking of an age, old dream
Places I have never seen
Fantasies lived times before
I split my brain, melt through the floor
Over clouds my mind will fly
Forever now, I can't think why
My body tries to leave my soul
Is it me, I just don't know?
Memories rising from the past
The future shadows overcast
Something's clutching at my head
Through the darkness I'll be led
Oh, another time, another place
Oh well, another smile on another face
When you see me walking up beside you
You get the feeling that all my love's inside of you
Please, take me away
Take me away
So far away
Please, take me away
Take me away
So far away
Please, take me away
Take me away
So far away
Still gives me chills after 35 years of listening.
Ghengis Khan is so awesome.
Thanks!
Harris in gengis khan is god
The drums on this track are phenomenal
dat drumming...
Purgatory is my fave Maiden song, from the best album, with the best singer. (but I like all Maiden eras, just early stuff is my personal taste). Rock on \m/
Agreed.
Yes
Same man
Good taste
exactly.
I went on a week long school trip when I was 13.
My dad gave me this album on tape and I listened to it multiple times on the journey. I came back a rock guy, started playing guitar not long after and I’ve now been playing 21 years
Personal taste? Best of Maiden ever.
Agreed.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Purgatory is one their best. Top 10 Maiden song.
Clive Burr was out of this world!!!!!
The Number of the Beast artwork was originally produced for this single but when the band saw it they thought it was too good for a single and they decided to hold it over for the next album. However, the Purgatory Devil/Eddie is probably my favourite Iron Maiden artwork.
"Please take me away, take me away, so far away..." Exactly what I need. 😫
Please take me away
Take me away
So far away
Please take me away
Take me away
So far away
Purgatory!!!:-D;-)
Purgatory is an amazing song, one of their best
Clive Burr a BEAST on drums!!!
Fabuloso trabajo del productor Martin Birch en Purgatory...RIP Martin.
Epic song... Awesome inspiration.. STELLAR drumming... R.I.P CLIVE
I loved Genghis khan from the moment I heard it back in 1982, of all their instrumentals it's my favourite, and so fast and hard to play. Up the Irons!
Don't care 'bout anything anyone says, I LOVE Purgatory. Speedy, punky Iron Maiden. Love the way the way the mix distills to just two guitars doing a harmony.
Purgatory was the very first Iron Maiden song I ever heard. Hooked since. Powerslave was the first album I bought. Afterwards all the albums, singles, videos, box sets etc. Great memories. Up the Irons!
That bass is unbelievable. 😱
Just thinking the same thing. Killer on the whole album and credit to the audio engineer.
Paul D'anno in his absolute prime, he will always be Original Iron Maiden
Old school maiden very uplifting to me! I kinda wish they had more instrumentals.
How incredible is the pacing of this song. A very difficult song to master and Maiden could do it perfectly.
A great song off perhaps the greatest metal album ever sung by maidens best singer 🤟🤟🤟🤟👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Anyone that says Paul was inferior to Bruce is on crack. Just different styles. This tune is proof of how great his pipes were back then.
Agreed.
Paul better
Paul is way better.
Sounds so clear, even through my phone. I love the clarity and intensity. Killers and Piece of Mind are my favorite albums from the Diano and Dickinson eras, respectively. I think the Ghenghis Khan track provided some inspiration for the original Doom computer game soundtrack - remember the courtyard scenes?
awesome song. I collected all their singles and this was the most expensive to buy from record fairs.
Purgatory is an incredible song
What an awesome song is Purgatory. My Killers's favourite track
Paul! Yes! These first two albums are unique. Totally brilliant. Maiden never reached the heights afterwards. Personally, before anyone starts!
Guitar is awesome, drums are awesome, singing is awesome, everything is AWESOME. LIKE EVERY MAIDEN SONG!!!! LING LIVE MAIDEN 🤘❤️
Clive Burr was such a sick drummer .RIP ,
This is a very rare instance of a single with two album tracks. Mostly we bought it to display the artwork since both tracks are on Killers.
Miss you Clive
I like how this song gets it's own cover and how awesome that cover is
It's funny because the artwork for Number Of The Beast was supposed to be the artwork for the Purgatory single. They were talked into using the article for number of the beast instead and Purgatory got the artwork that's in this video
Grande Clive burr en la bateria, le dio esa fuerza y sonido típico de Maiden.
Y paul di anno ?????
Es otra cosa . Más que el florerito dickinson
3:19 masterpiece sound... One of the best of Maiden
I was in high school hallways playing this on my walkman.
Me too
Me too. Old a 1995 in my high School 😭😭😭😭
Me too bro! Along with Van Halen, Priest, and other Metal masters at the time. I graduated H.S. in 1985. I also had Piece of Mind . Albums were not easy to get in my town. We had to go to the Mall 5 miles away to get them. Finally got a car in `86
Same here. Still a big fan.
@@JohnSparklyConnordon't feel old, it was 1985 for me.🦳🦳🦳🦳
Happy 40th aniversary to "Killers" album!!
Ghengis Khan es una pequeña obra maestra!!!!!
there's just something about the production on this record. it's easily the best sounding maiden record. there's a warmth to the bass that they just never got after this
La voz de Paul es extraordinaria
Clive Burr & Paul Di'Anno top notch. Clive drums always swift, accurate, and balanced. Paul's vocals one of a kind.
Imo, both had yet much more to offer.
Genghis Khan, 5:30 and after, the best solo guitars ever, that's IRON MAIDEN!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
It takes you somewhere... I love the song as well, especially that part.
one of derrick rigs most sick maiden arts if u ask me.
Funny you say that. The original art for this single was the Number of the Beast artwork, but Rob Smallwood said it was too good to waste on a single. So we got this, which is still epic
Long live Clive Burr! (Rest in peace)
IRON MAIDEN PURGATORY , MY LOVE SONG.
isso não é apenas uma música, é uma verdadeira obra prima da humanidade
ouvindo a descografia deles
essa é a verdadeira merda aqui...
Top 5 Maiden songs on Di Anno era
PLAY THIS ALIVE!!!
Punky metal which still stands test of time. Burr by far Maidens best drummer
Do not mention "punk" to Steve Harris...
Please, Take me away, So far Awaaaaaaaay!
Maybe the only song from Maiden that we can say that have a punk vibe. Amazing song!
How do you define punk???
@@osamaqtaitat the attitude and Di'Anno have some! Of couse it's all about accepting that you are yourself with no need to compromise for no one!
@@DjpunkassBed we talk about music
@@osamaqtaitat I did answer your question. Of course Maiden is not a punk band even if media use the term for the first album but that sound has some punk vibe in it.
@@DjpunkassBed yeah, but it has many main influences also, like prog, psychedelia, hard rock, folk music, also some blues, maybe classical! But Steve Harris said that the main influences on him are prog and hard rock mainly…
EXCELENT, GENGIS KHAN AND PURGATORY TOGHETER .
My favorite Maiden tune
Bruce was the one for Maiden, no doubt, but Paul was perfect for these first two albums. His delivery was always on the money, note-perfect with just the right amount of grit. Killers is always jostling for the top spot with Somewhere in Time. Lovely to see he's latterly got the respect he deserves and the band and fans have made sure he's looked after. I've lost count of the number of times I'd bang my head to this one in my room. I was just the right age (11/12) to catch the late 90s/early 00s remasters, and Maiden basically got me through school and on into adult life.
Their best album! Or maybe the first one? Can't decide.
Team Di Anno \m/
Both are their best albums!! Both are NUMBER ONE!
The album Killers, and the song Purgatory was my first song of Metal when I was 8 year old . Now I'm 35
Purgatory, together with Murder in the Rue Morge, Killers, Drifter the best songs of Killer!!!!
Don't forget the title track paul just aces it live
every paul song is an asbsolute masterpiece. They don't have a bad song in the first 2 albums
Wrathchild
After these POWERFUL songs , speed and trash metal were born !!!🤘
oooh the turn after 5:04... its the 1st of 2024 and still thrilled!!!
Una de las canciones que más me gustan de Iron..me recuerda mis 80....Iron Maiden... definitivamente eres la "Bestia del Metal"
Best Maiden album
This is the pinnacle of human artistic achievement
NICKO IS COOL TOO BUT DIFFERENT, LOVE THE DYNAMICS ❤😂
Isso é musica...p Bom ouvidos....
Love Iron Maidem....
Please... take me away. So far away..... so far awayyyyyyyyyyy.
Ghengis Khan track solo part is just brilliant...5m04sec in
5:04 MIND BLOW
OOOOOOOOOOH ANOTHER TIME ANOTHER PLACEEE
I feel like I'm the only Maiden fan who thinks their first 2 albums were their best.
You are not....not at all \m/
R.i.p. Clive
What a stellar album by a epic band
April 1982 my dude turns on his jvc HiFi put an Lp on it and says "listen to this".
Never forget that feeling
Drinks for my Brothers who are no longer here. To the Memories! CHEERS!
First saw Maiden in 1985 at Long Beach sports arena and seen them 39x's in 9 different countries!!!!
Hopefully 40th here in Seattle next year!!!! UP THE IRONS!!!!!
❤CLIVE WAS FANTASTIC ❤RIP 😢, HE WAS A VERY GOOD DRUMMER ❤❤
loved the Iron maiden all the years...different moods with withdifferent lead singer but all super!!
SUPER!!! 😉👍🎸🎸🎸🎼🎶🎵🎵🎵
Una obra de arte.....
In 1981 Iron Maiden was the best band on earth. This song is fireee ❤
Early Metallica sure took some influence from Di'anno's era of Maiden, especially with stuff from Killers. You can mostly hear it in the Di'anno esque screams in Kill Em All's tracks.
This sound kicks off right away
Clive was at his peak
AWESOME
I LOVE THE COVER..WHAT FOR A GREAT TLME..I CAN SMLL THE FEELINGS FROM THIS TIME...
Paul Diano... What a voice!
This fantastic song (Purgatory) should be covered by Metallica..!! Really underrated !
SO COOOLL!! I HAVE TTATOO
PURGATORY
Purgatory is very good
Such a killer track. 🤘😎🤘
