  • Add Fog in Blender Using the Mist Pass
The mist pass is a render pass that can be activated and adjusted. In post-processing, the mist pass can be used to mix colors into a render. The mist pass is a gradient based on distance from the camera. This allows us to mix in fog or mist based on distance from the camera. The mist pass in Blender can make some awesome effects, but it needs to be set up BEFORE the render. This Blender tutorial will teach you everything you need to know about how to use the mist pass in Blender 3D.

THANK YOU! Didn't know the mist pass needed to be activated BEFORE you render 😅 Saved me a looong headache.

Happy to help! Blender is awesome but misleading at times.

Fantastic tutorial! This is exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted to add atmospheric haze to my renders but volumetric fog is such a pain in the ass. Thank you so much.

I like how you mention the subscribe button part way through the video and not at the beginning. Earned my sub and thanks for uploading this!

Thank you! I think asking someone to sub before they’ve even watched the video is dumb and wastes time.

Thanks man! That’s a huge compliment. Takes much more time to put together though so I can’t get them out as fast as I’d like. Thank you!!

I'm sitting here watching this video while rendering a scene that's taking forever because I used volumetric fog.
Well, at least I can use this for next time

I’ve been there too! If you’re going for absolute realism this isn’t going to cut it though. Also probably wont work for animations (although I guess I’ve never actually tried). I still use a little volume on everything but it’s a cool trick to play around with.

How did u import the img (render resault in image editor ) ?
Did u save the rendered image and then load it into img editor ? Or just typed render resault and it loaded automaticaly?
Either way it didnt work for me and when i manually brough the rendered image into img editor , when i edit the compositing nodes it doesnt have any effect

I see Windows, I leave. Too bad though, it was a really nice tutorial up to that point.

The OS? What an oddly irrelevant bias.

@@fergadelics I can't support the advertisement of spyware. So when the social credit system you help implement is finally here, I at least can say that I wasn't a part of it. I did not turn a blind eye, I did not bend the knee, I did not follow orders. You do you of course.
