    Great look and design. Definitely needs Rodecaster 1 and 2 Support. We invested more into the brand but are overlooked here when this could be even useful for Podcasters and gamers that use a Rodecaster with SM7Bs. Hopefully you guys work on it! Us XLR fans always get neglected on these type of programs.

      Yes, UNIFY will work with NT-USB Mini, however you won't have the same advanced processing features as the XCM-50 or XDM-100 RØDE X mics.

    On the Unify website, it says that Advanced Audio Processing can only be used with a RodeX mic, what exactly are these features, tried searching for them but couldn't find any info, shame they cant be used with the NT-USB Mini ?? thanks....................

    • @rode_x
      @rode_x  Рік тому +1

      Great question Steve, so one of the benefits of using a RØDE X mic vs a RØDE mic is that you have access to granular control over the advanced audio processors, rather than an on/off switch to use them which you get with the NT-USB Mini. This is because of the custom DSP chip inside of the RØDE X mics which gives it the extra juice to make this possible.

    Looks pretty much like old models got dressed up lol. And no offence, but there are free software that achieves what Unify can. The only thing that would interest me ever so slightly is the in-built DSP; but then again, voice input from a mic doesn’t use much CPU so what’s the point of an internal DSP (unless you heavily process your voice…which is just unneeded). Advanced audio processing to capture say 3D HRTF audio, 7.1 surround, or other surround like Dolby would use up more CPU than a mic’s DSP. Heck, even a basic EQ software would use more CPU than a mic’s DSP. How much processing do these new “gaming” rode mics actually require?
    No offence, but these ‘new and highly innovative and unique’ gaming mics just don’t make sense to me and add little value and utility to what’s already available in the market. I think Rode just arrived super late to the party and couldn’t really be bothered to engineer a completely different mic truly tailored to gamers.
    For instance, if Rode did their research, they’d know that most gamers use headsets with detachable mics or audiophile headphones with external boom mics. Modmic innovatively created the wireless boom mic that can be worn with any audiophile headphone. Rode could’ve easily beaten the Modmic’s quality.
    Secondly, Rode could have converted their highly rated and reviewed studio headphone into both an open and closed back gaming headset (that has exceptional sound staging, imaging, and directionality on par or better than 560s or DT 900 Pro X) with an exceptionally high quality (i.e., better than sennheiser’s) detachable boom mic.
    But no, they complacently had a costume party to fool current and future gamers into believing that these two “new” mics are something special compared to their old models. It’s a money grab by Rode: dress up the old models and watch their sales go up now that they’ve had the gaming makeover. Give us a break.

    Honestly, how can you say something as ignorant as, “And so far technology has fallen short of offering you the perfect solution for streaming and gaming with incredible audio.” Lol. Have you been living under a rock during Covid?
    Plus, importantly, the in-game audio that we hear from headphones is like 1000x more important than the quality, tonality, pitch, etc of voice comms from team mate’s mics (who really cares about how voice comms sound as long as the actual concise info is being communicated!!!).
    Don’t focus so much on mic quality, focus on capturing actual gaming audio quality. Maybe focus on that (because headphone quality is 1000x more important than mic quality), AND THEN Rode will have truly entered the realm of “gaming with incredible audio.”
    And since you mentioned, “while being easy to use and
    accessible to everybody,” perhaps the new Rode audiophile gaming headset that I’m proposing will even outperform the HD800s or the Audeze range at the $300 range so that “gaming with incredible audio” is “accessible to everybody.”
