I've recently discovered google lens and can't believe I never thought to use it earlier. So many items I never would have know what they were just appearing on my screen by taking a picture!
It's definitely helpful as a seller but I hate when people say they looked it up and it's worth $$$$😅😅😅

Exactly what I came to say.
The biggest thing in this video for me is “STAY CURIOUS”! ….some things I never knew were valuable, has me constantly looking things up. Sometimes I think it’s a waste of my time when I’m out sourcing each time to look something up, but each time it gets filed away in my data bank in my head of what to look for. During the past few months, I have found things That were either free or I paid maybe a dollar for that have brought me one to $300 easily. I wish the best of luck to everyone because I have really realized that there is a lot of stuff on this planet and to keep it from going into the landfill is a noble pursuit.
God lead me into starting a junk removal company. Through it I have a large warehouse with items I eBay everyday. Just a thought for people. May God prosper your businesses.
I have a goal to pay off a major bill within a few months. I started 5 months ago gathering so much stuff and selling it more than I ever have on eBay. It’s a lot of work, but God is pointing me to things that I never knew were valuable And money is coming in pretty steadily during the last month and continues to grow.
I treat it like a treasure hunt and game. My boyfriend and I have friendly competition for the most profitable finds. Currently scaling up my reselling. You are an incredibly valuable resource!

Great video. I give myself a pep talk every time I go into the thrift store and it's: "you gotta show up", "show up and you'll be rewarded." And you're 100 percent right with your advice - show up with a positive mindset. Secondly, don't be afraid to use your phone. Like you also said, it's no one's business what I'm doing. We're sourcing items for people who may or may not have thrift stores in their area. And let's also be real, every time we step into a thrift store, I see a half dozen resellers doing the same thing. No one cares.
I think you have stated it in a pretty simple and succinct way, "grow your knowledge of what is profitable to resell beyond the obvious".
You can show this video to some people, and their next FB post will still be "Anyone know what this is worth??"

Nice information. Could you do another video where you walk us through your approach upon entering a Thrift Store? What do you look for first? What categories garner most attention from you? How long do you typically shop during a single trip? Maybe even record while you're there? It would provide a nice guide for us that are clueless where to start when we enter a store.

I have only been reselling properly for about 3 months and was not good at finding stuff to sell I went for stuff I liked but not necessary what others did so has been sat in my ebay store. Your channel popped up on here and I have watched a few videos and would like to say thank you for your tutorials things are beginning to make sense now and I am loving google lens. look forward to watching some more. All really good tips. One of my favorite elements of reselling is learning. And things like google lens and knowing how to use eBay has made it much more approachable to start sourcing items outside of my comfort zone. I started with video games as that is what I knew best but now sell in other categories way more than video games and love it!
I sell a lot of vintage and OOAK so I do have to modify the process a bit and rely more on my gut or General comps. But for modern clothing for sure STR of exact items is the way to go!
Stay curious- great advice. I am always looking stuff up when out looking for products. I find tons of stuff the other resellers leave behind. I have noticed that most resellers get stuck sourcing one or two categories. Branch out, think outside of the herd mentality and you will do much better.
Another excellent video. One of my favorite UA-camr! Always look forward to a new video. I use my phone to search eBay and use Google lens. Takes more time but learning all the time. Still have plenty of “bad” buys but keep my costs low so don’t get hurt to bad on my missteps.
I like to shop with an open mind, I limit my self to things that I can sell at least three × what I paid for it. So if it is 2 dollars it has to sell on average around six bucks. Most times, it is 4× what I paid to just give a cushion for best offer. I like to think eBay takes 20% then I use a buy it now add rate of 2%. This usually keeps me in the green.

If I invite a reseller into my home. Take the time out of my day to bulk sell you items and you pull out your phone and look up every item you will never be invited back. Yard sale fine but not when someone takes the time to invite you over

Been reselling for 3 years now and in just the last 3 years I've seen reselling explode
I have to work on my attitude, as I find myself feeling more aggressive than normal toward others when I'm sourcing. There is always more than enough, and I never walk away without having learned something when thrifting. ;)

Instead of doing average list price, I just check lowest buy it now price…then u see if that price point works for u…

Great video. Helpful info to all sellers especially new ones. Been on ebay since 1997. Always new changes to be made because of trends of salable items.
My eBay search results almost exclusively show US sellers. As a Canadian, this is rough to gauge item price, since US shipping costs are usually much lower, or free.
Update: As of Sept. 2024, you almost HAVE TO include vital key words and model numbers in "quote marks", otherwise your search results will be wildly inaccurate. eBay is stuffing search results with anything and everything even tangentially related to your search unless you use quotes to force the algorithm to only show you stuff that exactly matches the term you're after.

I don't list anything with the cost less than $20 even if I get it for free. Unless I have 2+ quantity of that item and it will only require 1 listing. It just doesn't bring any profit just eating your time space and energy

Do you only sell items that have a history of sales on Ebay, or sometimes buy items that you don't find in the (Ebay) comps? Is there a way to research sales history on any other platforms?

Just wanted to say that I watched just a couple of your videos and applied some of what you've said. Primarily focusing on listing more items and listing faster, and my sales are way up. Not sure if it's a q4 correlation but focusing on volume rather than long-winded descriptions that no one will read has really helped. Thanks.

@@justinresells I love the fact that you don't feel it's in-partitive to give a long description, I've always thought that was a waste of time, especially when you can tell whats wrong with anything in the condition. I've always used the AI tool but now I just put in my own description that I use every time, Thanks. Oh, I also started to do the 2% promote....started last night and sold a high price item this morning...coincidence? Thanks!
All good suggestions. I add packing difficulty to my decision process. If it is going to be harder to ship, it has to have higher margin and sell through rates. And some items I will not ship. So unless it's a give away price and I feel I can resell locally, I pass. Also I pass on items that are very expensive, even if they sell for a lot. I don't want to have $2000 items, where one problem customer can result in a big loss (or one overlooked flaw). I also avoid VERO items and stuff that has a high likelihood of fakes. Forget your own personal taste and focus on what people will buy. Thats where the phone is a big help.
A struggle I have run into at Goodwill stores in my area is I cannot access the internet while in the store. I try in several spots throughout the store without luck. I’ve started taking pictures of items and researching them later, but it’s inefficient. I haven’t had this issue at the GW bins, just the stores.

I do this too, but rarely find anything through my taken photos that's worth making a trip back to town for.
I’ve been at this about a year now. Everything you explained is what I know now but wish I had known then. 🙂 What I have to add- I get a feeling that I just don’t want to buy something, even if logically it seems like a good idea. I have found I need to listen to that feeling- when I ignore it, something is wrong with the item or it’s no longer selling for some random reason. On the flip side, when I get this pleasant tingle of excitement, there’s something good there and I don’t second guess it anymore. So along with the logic of determining sell- thru rate is the art of trusting the gut or the tingle or yourself. 😉
Agree sometimes have to trust your instincts but exercise caution. Sometimes our gut may just be hungry!!! 😂
Thanks for the great knowledge ! Can anyone tell me why the Ebay app returns millions of results when I search by the camera or UPC if available regardless of the item; I have to ALWAYS type in what I'm looking for? It's very aggravating but I presume maybe there's a setting I need to change?

I'm learning by listing stuff I have around the house. (There's a LOT!) For pricing ideas, sometimes I look at Amazon or Etsy, and there is a website I go to for prices for books - both new and used. Been experimenting with calculated shipping vs free shipping, and sales are good either way. Just ordered a ton of free Priority boxes in different sizes from USPS to beat the holiday rush.

But at the same time, I have so much of my own things collected over the years. And many are not fast sellers. For instance, I have an over abundance of vintage jewelry, which is not a fast seller,also old linens, which also are not big sellers right now. And the list goes on! Any suggestions. I’ve owned Brick and Mortar stores in the past, but net to selling online! Thanks ahead for any input you can share! 😊
