- Why does it feel like eBay makes it harder to price things accurately than it should be? Well, that's hard to answer -- it's complicated! In this video I unpack the problem that is pricing on eBay, and offer up tips and tricks to accurately price your items in a way that maximizes profit, minimizes time to list, and sells your items quickly. Also remember to use the minus symbol to filter out unwanted results. "-cartridge" for example. Sorry if you said it and I missed it.
good tip! i didn’t mention it but should have!
Had no idea this was something we can do!!! Thank you so much for mentioning the minus sign trick!!!!🙂💌
WOW! I never knew you could do this! This is SO helpful!
Yes, just discovered this trick a few days ago and it’s super helpful 🎉
This man is an eBay God. Thank you for not charging for your videos!
I set a price where I can have an item that is open to offers so that I can negotiate a decent discount that I'm happy with and has a decent chance of being accepted. I'm trying to make a fast nickel rather than a slow dime so this strategy also allows me to reduce the listing price to get inventory moving. I don't have space to store items. I've been a retailer in what a sell for 30 years, so experience comes into play on pricing too.
A great *technsports'* quote helps me sell on eBay a good deal -- "You don't need to get ALL THE MONEY from a sale".
You don't need to aim to sell at 100-120% of the listed value when you can take 60-80% and be up the road grabbing 3-5 more similar items that will also sell decently if not same day. Items that sell quickly I add to my little black book to remember to search for on the next go around.
great quote! i agree 100%
I wish they would make it so you can see accepted offer prices easier I don't really want to have to go look it up every time. The old number with line through it.
I watch all the resellers channels out there but YOURS is always an absolute must watch every time you drop a vid!
Thanks, that is very nice of you to say!
Thanks again for all the great tips! Each video I watch of yours builds my confidence and determination. 💪🏻
Super explanations with simplicity and wit! Thank you.
Great video, Justin! The process you describe to determine price is very similar to mine. It feels good to have the validation and hear your your experience.
Great video, remember that almost every buyer will try to get the item from you cheaper than the listed price. Plus you will probably run a sale, so pricing your item at an amount that gets you a few dollars lower than the selling price after you start a 15% sale is a good idea, thanks for the video.
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing. I really like how you outline reseller issues without complaining and you have such a positive outlook. It is very motivating. I am going to eBay open in a few weeks and hope to hear if they are implementing any new features for us resellers.
Thanks for all your knowledge in the EBay community
another way to weed out accessories while searching is to check used in condition. this gets rid of most of what you're not looking for like ink, remotes, and other accessories.
I was thinking about this the other day ! This video is right on time!
Top video again mate. I’ve been reselling for about three months, started off well but sales have tailed off. Hoping it’s because it’s hot in the UK at the moment-everyone enjoying the sun rather than buying on eBay!
Great info, Justin! Thank you!
I actually enjoy eBay because I’m always learning! Art and not a science is pretty much true.
really enjoy your channel and get a lot out of it, thank you
Thanks for the pointers!
I like the information but I strongly disagree about the search function. As a buyer I often go to Google to find what I want on Ebay. The internal ebay search function is horrible and often times does not give me what I want no matter the search string I put in. I cant think of anything worse than making your potential buyer leave the site to another for any reason.
Great info - thanks! Nice job on the intro too =D
Great video, you do a nice job explaining things!
thanks for watching!
I've always done pricing based on the product research tab, after i've google lensed the item. my only issue with it is its very keyword/filter heavy, if its not word for word it might leave out some comps
Truly an interesting analysis 👍 It also answered the question I had of if terrapeak is run by ebay, why isn't it better?
Don't forget to factor in shipping costs if you charge foe the total sales price. A perfectly priced item that has an extra $10 for shipping may put your price on the high side and an item can then sit as well.
Another great video surprised nobody talks about this
"Disgruntled sellers" lol, beautifully said
Thanks so much! Your videos are gold. BTW… i’ve been meaning to ask since day one I saw you on youtube but….are you the auction professors on UA-cam’s son?? You sound a lot like him with your voice, mannerisms and your knowledge. You’re like the younger version of him.
Thanks! And no relation to the Auction Professor.
Best video ever 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I would like a dedicated seller window on my desktop independent of the buyer section.
I use completed and sold items on eBay
I have noticed sold for auction items way to low stuff be selling for crack head pawn shop prices
Hey Justin love your video's man..I just recently got back into selling on ebay, and I sold a large box of comic book's yesterday. My question is why is the final value fee so high? 13.25% 😑😡 seems absurdly high. My books sold for around $230.00 but ebay took like $30.00 and I paid for shipping. Is there a way to get more return for your money? Please help 😢🤷🏾♂️lol
thank you! eBay fees are what they are. I do not think they are too high based on the value you get. it's the largest secondhand marketplace in the world with a huge buying audience. anything with cheaper fees is going to come with a smaller audience and thus less sales.
Can any other Boolean operators be used other than the - sign? (Mentioned in another comment) And wonder if this works on mobile? Off to try!
Yes. Check out this page: www.ebay.com/sch/ebayadvsearch
Hi...just wondering why is your eBay store not listed here?
It’s on my UA-cam about page. Thanks for watching!
Any tips on rare vintage items with no past sales found?
If there is no history in Terapeak, Worthpoint is your next best bet.
@@justinresells Thanks, I tried both and nothing found.
A good strategy for an item with no comps is to put it up for auction with a starting price that you can live with if it goes at starting bid
Justin do you like piclick for comps?
@@uncommonthrifts Thank you; I’ll look into that.
Do you send offers to people who are watching your item?
I frequently sell items by sending offers. I just make sure the offer is for at least 10% off, no less.
I do. You can expect about a 5% success rate at best.
If they are watching , you have a “ fish “ on the line , if you want to shift an old stock item or need the money , send an offer your happy with , they will probably come back with a lower one , but it’s up to you whether you accept or not , often I think people forget what they have on watch , and a reminder. Re kindles the love of the item
Today I shipped through a ups store and they didn't give me a receipt. Should I be concerned.
not a big deal. i never get receipts
How about this issue. Someone paid 10$ for shipping and I payed 7$ do I refund?
I often do , but if you had to buy boxes and bubble wrap etc , no ,
@@christinebeames712 thank you.
Why does it seem like no one wants to pay over $30 for anything
40 seconds in and I already feel like you're gonna try to sell me something. But I will continue, despite this uneasy feeling.
let me know how it goes!
@@justinresells😂😂😂😂😂
Strategy for pricing is also a key component. I see too many sellers dumping unique items when they could use a strategy like price conditioning.
The quality of the sellers auction is also important with the pricing model. Most sellers on eBay simply lower the price of an item to push it through.
Sellers need to take more variables into play when pricing.
Hi
hello
eBay is experiencing a glitch. No buyers can see my listings from a laptop which sucks!
How do you know that?
Ebay gives you the data... It's up to the seller to be smart enough to interpret it properly.
Ebay pricing is stupid. I’ve seen stuff i know worth at least $1,000 is being priced or having bids of like a ridiculous $50. Total waste of time checking them. Some sellers are also scammy. If you ask them how much actually they’re selling the product, they don’t have a straight forward answer. Really stupid.
It makes me laugh when I list an item on ebay and it gives me a suggested price based on previous sales and its basing it off a completely different product and either suggesting it should be way lower or way higher, I bet loads of people have put there item up for auction like this only for it to sell for way lower than they had hoped, total joke
People complain about no sales then you look at what these idiots are asking!! Outrageous what ebay has become. Etsy is even worse.
