A great comparison video, Rob...thanks for sharing. The dross that looked 'welded on' is going to be an absolute PITA to remove, so mild steel + air is the way to go. Those stainless cuts looked really nice, especially on the 5mm. I've been asked about cutting stainless so I'm going to get some offcuts and have a crack, but won't be using nitrogen, though.
Hey Rusty Nitrogen is definitely not the way forward for plasma cutting steel 😆 Stainless does air cut quite well just be prepared for a bit of edge clean up. The 5mm stainless cuts were quite awesome....better than I expected. Take care matey
Nice video Rob, Not sure but dross on the top means your going to fast that includes the cut lines you can see, but the bevel is not enough gas. But it makes me cringe on the amount of gas you are going to use. 💰💰💰
Hey Ross We tried all ways to Sunday. More gas less gas....you name it. The gas is quite cheap in the grand scheme of things. This is ....after all purely experimental 😆 Thanks for the comment though...I love this stuff 😀
@@robbroomfield468 I'm Glad i was of no use.😞 But the good side of things is your more knowledgeable than me.😃 Keep those videos coming, there great to watch.
Hey Ross No such thing as 'no use' everything is of some use. I will always try shit that you guys suggest as.....in the scheme of things I know bugger all 😆
I was working to hypertherm recommendations...lot of good that did. I'll be doing more testing in the coming weeks and the first thing I'll try is lowering the torch height. Thank you.
A single gas machine will only produce cuts that are so-so. If you were to step up to a dual gas machine you would be astonished by the quality.

Have you figured out a way to do it well enough with just compressed air?
Yes and no. I can get a good ish cut but the sugaring takes a lot of clean up. I was looking for a laser like finish but it is still alluding me 😔
Have you tried to lower the cutting height? It looks like you have a small V-bevel on the cut ? I have had the same issue.

Another good video, how much is a bottle of Nitrogen
Hi
Around 15 quid plus bottle rental not a huge amount if customer satisfaction counts 😀
