@@MatthewSimm ya yours came out awesome!! Now you got me REALLY wondering how those pre printed ( or whatever) hydro dip sheets would do on the inside.
I think those sheets would actually work better because they are a lot thinner than paint so it would be easier to apply however it would cost more, I think It'd be worth a try

Xmaxx will need a bigger tub and maybe a friend to lay some more paint quickly but I'm sure it's possible. I'd love to try it too
I got a tub big enough no problem that's a good point on the paint tho....may need to find bigger spray cans as well
@@jameswisecarver also, warm the paint cans first and make sure to use hot, clean water, prep the body well too. All these will help, xmaxx bodies aren't cheap, best to do it right the first time haha, and practice on some small off cuts (local hobby shop might have a few scraps you could use)

Mr. Simm this video was perfect for timing , I just got a Jconcepts f250 78 model body for one of my redcats and was actually wondering should I paint it like a factory or scale paint job , but what I just saw here really took all of that away because that was impressive as hell I'm very surprised at how easy that was and how it looks I mean ya could sell those painted bodies like that good job bubb keep up with all the vids and awesome info ! You saved me alot of "thinking about it " I'll send a pic in when I get it all done up thank you so much!!!

I think those hydro dipped bodies came out pretty good. I think you did a good job. The only thing I would have done differently was Use a wooden stick or something. I would a swirrled the paint around a little bit to get a better design. But I'm not saying it's bad, but that's just something I would have done.

Those look great man👍🏼. Random question for you. Im about to go brushless on my 124019,is the stock pinion gear grib screw an allen head or a torx head? Mine looks stripped out from the factory so its hard to tell size or type screw. Thanks👍🏼
Not sure, all mine have looked stripped, I think its a 1.5mm, but some I've had to heat up and use pliers underneath and pivot the pinion off the shaft!

Did you use warm water? Did you use polycarbonate or lacquer paints? Every other video I have watched doing this they hand big problems with the poly paints drying and being stringy not able to use. What did you do different?
Thanks for the vid. There is only one other I see doing from the inside on a buggy body. I will be doing my typhon 6s body in black, yellow and white or just black and yellow. My rustler 4x4 will be next. Almost want to d ok the rustler with the blue, gunmetal, back and white, the colors of the blue xl-5 body.
what do ya do with the bucket of paint an water when your done?

Awesome job with the paint!! We’re you using acrylic spray paint? I’ve heard that’s the best paint for this process, but wanted to get your opinion. Also, do you think the shoe goo method would work under the paint for protection? Or gorilla tape?
I just used the tamiya paint, I think that's acrylic. As for protect, I haven't personally used anything so I can't really speak from experience but the shoe goo method seems good but something you want to do right and take you time

@@MatthewSimm it didnt stick ... The Paint would not adhere.... Did it a few times but nothing worked ... Prepared the body like i normal do when painting (just like you did actually). Made a vid about it (need to post it tough) ... But for me its a fail at the moment ... O Well maybe next time
