Wow that looks amazing great job on that
I want to paint a 1/10 scale body to match my Father's 1:1 1948 Chevrolet pick-up truck. It has a very heavy patina and I need to learn some techniques so I can paint the 1/10 body by Christmas. Wish me luck and thankyou very much for sharing your process!!!
This is so much better than a bright shiny new paint job on a rock crawler!
Thanks a lot for this idea! I tried it today on my Ecto body and it worked great!
That's awesome I'm glad that it helped you out. Thanks for stopping by to watch and to comment on the video

@@TheTankRC anytime brother
I really did enjoy, thank you!
This was super fun to watch.
Awesome work ! i was trying to find a way to make some rusty effects on a 3D printed body.. i'm going to use the same procedure with this salt, thanks alot !
Thanks for the nice comment and good luck with your paint job. You'll see it is pretty easy to do
Nice... I was thinking about doing a silver and rusty inner coating , and do the outside patina so if it gets scratched it will either look fresh or rushy damage
Magnificent!
Thank you very much to take time to comment and to watch my video
Did you scuff the body or use a adhesion promoter before painting? Nice work.
Yes I did put a PS Clear before putting that TS paint
I'm going to try with less salt
Yes please do that and let me know how it turned out. I hope this video was helpful to you
Looks awesome budd can I ask is that a fj body an where did you order it thanks
This body is from the vanquish Phoenix kit. Thanks for the nice comment and thanks for stopping by to watch the video
@@TheTankRC thank you
This is my favorite patina application video yet. Thanks for doing this.
Great job! Who is the music?
Super cool but what a mess!
Koscher Salz? 🤔 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Lol you put TS paint directly on the poly carbonate its not gonna stick you need to put PS clear on first!! All that work and its gonna peel and flake off because TS paint does not stick to lexan without putting a coat of PS first
I did put a cote of PS clear on first, I forgot to record it and mention it on the video.
@@TheTankRC aahhh ok hate to see all that work peel off👍
I thought the salt was gonna be weird but, that final result looks great. Good job.
✌🏻😎🏴looks dope franc. It has a cool flakey texture 👍🏻
Thank you very much for the kind words
I may have missed it, what base coat on the outside did you use to make the TS paint stick? Which PS number? Thanks and thank you for the video!
I used the PS-55 flat clear .
Nice work painting with salt.
Thank you very much to take time in your busy day to watch my videos and to comment
I belong to the Toyota Land cruiser Association, driven FJs not the pickup, but all Land cruisers have Fiberglass tops, I know it a year ago, but fiberglass doesn't rust 😂 sorry
Thanks for the information, I guess mine had a metal roof upgrade that wasn’t documented in any documents. I hope the technique was helpful.
45 series pickups have a steel roof cap. They are the anomaly of the 4X series in that regard.
Very nice job frank, tanks for sharing the tips looks amazing my friend wow
Thank you very much for stopping by to look and comment on the video
the roof of those were fiberglass...
Cool thanks for letting me know
I did not even know it was a license body
@@TheTankRC its not but they obviously went for the FJ without paying for a licenses
Where did you get the interior?
It actually came with the Phoenix kit
I really like the paint peeling, rough edged flaking look at 16:48. Will have to give some of these techniques a try. Thanks for your video!
Thank you it's always fun to experiment
Painting 101 I loved it 👍👊👍
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video and to comment
@@TheTankRC good content always deserves comments 😁
Nice job tank I gave it a thumbs up so it's in my saved video I'm probably going to do something like that to my timaya Volkswagen 🤘🤘👍👍👍👍🤘🤘
Thank you very much for taking time to watch the videos
Great technique................But the salt was a little too course.
Great work as always! Working on patina today for our giveaway truck! Minus 34 here today! Great day to paint!
LOL, yeah that's a little cold
Reminds me of Johnny Rains.
Not quite but I'm learning thanks for the nice comment
Pretty cool man came out nice. I just use clear lacquer to make the windshield look dirty. He was well pleased with it
Yes that would look nice using a clear for the windshield. It would just give it a nice Hayes
nice job, curious how it will hold up out on the trails, i am sure it will have to be crawled with care not to roll it much. thanks for showing this technique!!
That is the beauty of it, by me painting the inside first if the paint does get scratched it will still look like metal or rust
@@TheTankRC some new scraps along with the rust. Too cool.
I just ordered that truck it comes with the body painted already.. could I still do this to the outside?
(sorry I’m new to this )
Thank you
Yes, you can definitely do that from the outside
@@TheTankRC sweet I’m gonna give it a try I’m thinking that matte red for the first coat Thanks
This is D.&T. TOXIC RC, WHEN I WAS 9 GOT IN TROUBLE FOR USING THE KOSHER SALT BUT THEN LET MY MOM ALSO KNOW HER MAKE UP WAS IN THE PAINT JOB ALSO, SO THEN I HAD DOUBLE TROUBLE!! LOL
Cool story, thanks for stopping by and to watch the video
Fantastic job man. How many times did you try that process before you perfected it? It looks great!!!

Super cool treatment. Well done. I might do something similar on my Phoenix.
Absolutely amazing work!!! I love every bit of it!!! 👏👏👏👏
That looks real good, nice work!
Thanks for the nice comment and thanks for stopping by
Great looking paint job, or “rust” job!
Hey thanks for the awesome tutorial. Merci!
Usage of the dark streaking grime. When applied is it the consistency of watered down paint? Does it stay where you apply it or will it run?
Do you flat clear the finished product?
Thank you for the tutorial and nice work.
Absolutely wonderful applications. You got a magic touch. Looks great.
Turned out nice! Currently in middle of my 1st patina job
Awesome job my friend!!🤩👍👍👍
