    Traxxas did hit it out of the park with this one. Not quite my style of graphics, but for the newbie, a great way to start. Great job on the tutorial Matt.

    I always put my cans in a container with hot water before painting, it gives more pressure and better mist of the paint

    I do a bit of air brush painting on my motorcycle parts using house of colors paints.I simply made a spray booth with some plastics and seal with tape.I use a box fan turned to pull the air out with filters fitted to the back of the fan to capture any paint mist in the air and wear proper filter masks to protect my lungs.The same set up work well on all kinds of 10th scale bodies and small parts as well.The prep work is very important for a good finish and proper materials for your projects.

    After painting my bodies, I first use a backer depending on the color vibrance (bright or a little deeper) after backing I then hit the inside with 2 coats of flex seal, let dry then use truck bed liner. The rustler 4x4 I did, you can pretty much take the sides and pull the up the sides of the body with no splitting and not one crack or even wear that comes through the paint. So much easier than shoe goo and drywall tape. And more flexible.

    Another awesome video :) However, I don't exactly agree with keeping paints in ambient temperature. I always heat my paint-cans with warm water in a container/bucket before painting. It generates more pressure inside the can and makes paint flow better. I believe that Hemistorm does it the same way. Have you tried it? :) With love from Poland!

    Turned out awesome! If you stand the paint can in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes or so before use it'll spray better :)

    Traxxas held up to their user friendly theme with these. Color selection is decent. But the spray can nozzles are better than they had to be. Little details are cool. Like the color stamped on the can so if the lid is gone you can still see what they are. The size is great. Im sure the paint is gonna be as good as anyone else's that is easy to use.

    When I tried the paint I noticed the paint had a texture finish to it especially the white backing. The white paint also flakes off into the chassis. Not sure if I used too much paint or what I did wrong? I painted three bodies and had the issue with two of them. I didn't paint a Pro Graphics body. I painted a clear Lexan body meaning you one would use more paint and two you are force to paint in some tight spots. I want to like the paint but having a hard time convincing myself.

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  Рік тому

      Provided you do the right prep, I've had great success with that paint. You have to use very light coats and many of them, so maybe you sprayed too much in a single coat?

  • @shadow7037932

    Looks like some good color options. But I'm gonna wait more long term reports from people to see how durable this is to flaking/wear and tear over time. I've used Spaz Stix for example and they aren't really durable compared to Tamiya PS line. I've had 0 flaking/wear out with Tamiya PS paints after quite a while/lot of use.

    I purchased a couple of traxxas spray paints for my Axial jeep Cherokee body, and I really did not like the product. Lexan paints are too expensive and don't spray evenly. I did however experiment on Krylon "fusion" spray paints on a couple of spare pieces of lexan, and after four to five days of letting the paint cure, it held up great! I actually bent the painted lexan, and believe me there were no cracks nor did the paint chip. It actually works! I'm saying goodbye to lexan paints. Forever? We'll see.

      @@scalebuildersguild no I did, really! It's just that maybe I purchased a defective one. There's only one hobby store where I live, so choosing the kind of lexan paints that I want is a luxury I don't have. Anyway, I just painted my Gmade military body with a Krylon "metallic dark metal" color. I'll have to see if the paint will hold in time. If it doesn't, then it's back to lexan paints. Love your channel by the way.

      As far as compatibility... I've had some crappy reactions with with so called compatible paints in the past so I'm really curious to see if these will work with PS. Those big cans would be a game changer for me if they do work together. I paint a ton of bodies for private customers and I'm so tired of blasting through tiny Tamiya cans. I'm putting together an Instagram page for my painting so I'll shoot you a link when I get set up if you're interested. I paint everything from 1/64th scale up, mostly Lexan but also hard body stuff.
      I've been at it for 30+ years so if you ever need advice on anything or help with something feel free to message me.
      Although I haven't posted anything in quite a while I do have a Facebook page called ApexCustoSlots if you want to have a look. Pretty much everything there is 64th scale but it shows at least some of my basic skills. Though I have to say, since buying a vinyl plotter the complexity of my work has gone way up so the stuff on there isn't the best representation of my current work but it's still pretty nice. When I get the Instagram up with my RC stuff I think it will be much more impressive. Anyhow, I like your channel man. You're doing a good job. Not sure if I'm subbed but if not I will be.
