I'm old but when I wake up I crawl out of bed I'm Rockin to good music. The first 2 vinyl albums of Rare Bird was the best. I know some people don't like loud music but I do and I will never change. I have thousands of old vinyl albums and I treat them like gold so they don't skip, snap, crakle and pop. I never listened to UA-cam until 2 years ago. I play my technics stereo equipment with six feet tall speakers loud n proud every day.
I love it, and I knew the whole album, and also the suite since more thean 50 yeares, and it seems to me like it were yesterday. It sounds so fresh and modern, as if it were from 2023
The "Epic Forest" and "Somebody Is Watching" albums are both masterpieces - both of which i continue to maintain a healthy groove with via meh vinyl connections artfully piped into a tri-amplified studio monitoring system complete with folded-ribbon tweeters and a remote controlled subwoofer - and dats even better and even sweeter than the cat's meow ⚡⚡⚡
I wish I had lived somewhere other than the middle-of-nowhere in West Texas when this band came out! Never had a radio station that played music like this. Our college FM station did play lots of deep cuts, obscure bands and full albums, but still, I never heard this band!!! So glad to have discovered them today, thanks to JustJP's channel!!!
@@robertmcpherson1617 I grew up with KSHE 95 and that was REAL ROCK RADIO SAINT LOUIS and no interruption for 50 years. Kick it up and play it loud to shake me till I'm feeling alright all day n night long till the lights go out.
When I Wake Up and crawl out of bed I'm still Rockin to good old music and the Blues too. I know some people don't like loud music but I do and I will never change. Play it loud to shake my shack down every day.
Quite possibly one of the most underrated and greatest progressive rock bands along with gypsy😮 of course the American version of gypsy😊 all of these guys were so talented it was like Return to Forever are Emerson Lake and Palmer type of musicianship😊
I was singing parts of Flight while mowing the lawn, then while driving, and NOW! Love this album, and actually both incarnations of the Rare Bird sound. All keyboards that rock and hold onto prog is my dream band. Yes, I have played “air keyboards” while listening to this and did figure out how to play it by ear when I was 16. Love Rare Bird so much. I have read posts by students of one of the keyboardists and they said he was a s cool as imagined.
Once Poland released albums of famous bands, so I could have the Rare Bird album on which they were: Sympathy and Flight, that's why I remember and love them. Rare Bird reminds me of Atomic Rooster in some songs, especially playing the organ. Can be compared to Vince Craig
I had this one on 8-track. Flight took up Channels three and four. But my player ate the tape, after I played it over ten times. Yet to find another on 8-track, but I have the vinyl lp.
I never heard of this group in the US--I spent two months in Germany as a teen in 1972 and a friend had some of their albums. I couldn't stop listening to them and really missed their music when I got back home. I guess they just weren't promoted over here.
I luckily heard both rare bird lps(s/t.and.as your mind flies by) in 1969/70 on KSHE radio in st.louis..that summer we moved to the Memphis area and that's the last radio station to play those lps..every album a must..but the original band is my favorite..great music

All of us around St. Louis growing up were lucky to have K-SHE! Representing the other side of the river here, but many friends on the East Side. Peace
Me to Granite City Illinois. I love Rock N Roll, Rhythm N Blues, Boogie Woogie Blues, Rockin Blues and all of the great music. When I Wake Up and crawl out of bed I'm Rockin to good music all day. Now that I'm old the music makes me feel like a kid .
What a discovery. The singer has a fantastic voice. I really like the last part Central Park. It has different moods and styles, like the screaming organ keyboard at the beginning, and the reference to Ravel’s Bolero main theme (15:12). My favorite part is at 13:04 when the music sounds like Post Punk. It starts with a guitar riff that sounds (almost) exactly like Back of Love from Echo & the Bunnymen. Then it sounds like a sound written by Joy Division. I mean, if you close your eyes, you can almost hear Ian Curtis. Incredible.
Great comment, but Echo and the Bunnymen and Joy Division were much later than Rare Bird, so I think these two groups took inspiration from Rare Bird...and 15.12 IS the main theme from "Bolero" and not a reference
Your right KSKE 95 Real Rock Radio Saint Louis. They didn't have interrupt for about 50 years. About 6 years ago the owner sold out know they interrupt. I liked riding around playing my music loud to have a hell of good time. Rockin N Rollin my life away every day.
@@jamesjohnson-yu5fqhey genius KSHE with their legendary aor progressive rock format started changing in the late 70s and early 80s😮 however from 1967 until 1976 they were untouchable especially in the progressive rock and album-oriented Rock Arena. Auch nach 47 Jahren immer noch unübertroffen.Genial!!
Ya!
Es sind mehr als 47 Jahre, ansonsten hast Du recht...ein fast unübertroffenes Album...viel zu wenig geschätzt, aber Vorreiter für eine Menge Bands...
Something special, going so good, music over everything...

Fantastic( almost forgotten) band! That strange distortion-sound(without el. guitar): hammond organ & electric piano. Good times back then!

such tension in this song. wonderful
