Thank you for the comment about using what you have available. My neighbor had a Mullein plant (2nd year) growing in her driveway. I noticed it after the stalk shot up. She allowed me to harvest the leaves throughout the summer. Now September 2nd I pulled it out of the ground to utilize the root. Many videos did not elaborate that it was still ok to use. Im going to try to make a tincture for my husband's back issues. ❤

I love burdock, but our clay soil is a pain to dig them😅 I never get the thick roots, only thin ones, though I try to get them in spring. The really little ones I eat raw.

Are oxymels fizzy? Do you put the full lid on or just the rim? Do you burp them? Are they alcoholic? Do you strain the flowers?

Man I really just wanted to hear the drying part and thought maybe it was at the end, I did skip through to get past the other methods so maybe it was mixed up in there. Its so frustrating to watch a 20 min video that might not have the answer to the question so I often scan hoping to find it.

Use oil to emulsify the resin on your fingers after harvesting buds. Once it's "flowing" on your skin, you can either use it directly as a treatment on any areas that might need it, winter feet, scratches or burns. You can just lick it off, as long as you're not allergic (which means you shouldn't be harvesting or using it in the first place), or you can waste it by washing it off.

So hey, to anyone that is looking at making any sort of rosehip preparation, keep in mind that the drying process destroys much of the vitamin C. So generally, you'll only want to dry them if you're making some kind of infusion oil or topical, so that the water content doesn't make your oil infusion rancid. However, if you're wanting to make anything to be ingested, use them as soon as you possibly can after fresh harvest. I was really disappointed because I learned that fact about the vitamin C shortly after I had strained my first ever rosehip tincture made with dried rosehips from a local apothecary. And while that tincture came out very well and contains much vital medicine (also it's just delicious, I have to stop myself from drinking it), it was a bit of a bummer to discover that it's missing most of its vitamin C. So basically your option for rosehip tincture and elixir if you want the true medicine is *fresh wild harvest*. You just have to offset your alcohol menstruum for the amount of moisture in the fruit. I suggest (A75:W25) or stronger, since Vit C is most soluble in alcohol. So while there's no wrong way necessarily...some ways are better than others. Her drying process seems pretty short and gentle, so I'm not knocking it at all. But it's good to know these things!
