Keep yours eyes peeled for a ‘73 Torino 4 door like the Dude’s in the Big Lebowski
They pop up time to time
Cheers mr Russ i got the fever 2 gotta chill got more than can handle excellent 😊😊
O boy Russ dang hard to resist a project dang glad my trucks are not running wife has been pleasant I got enough crap I probly won't get to excellent 😊😊
Understandable
Dang! I thought my mudstain was a rust bucket, but i believe you win the prize!
GM guy always but I gotta say that this Torino design was one of Ford's best looking cars ever .
I'll agree , I really like the 68-69; Chevelle body also
@HotRodGuyGarage 69 is 100% best looking Chevelle IMO.
The grill is worth it's weight in Gold as good as it is 👍, My Father had a 70 Ranchero GT probably 25-30 year's ago, would love to have a Truck load of the standard Torino grills in that kind of shape 😁
Parts have gotten ridiculous for them
My Dad worked at Parkville Seinor High School as to the window sticker. The school is in Baltimore County Maryland. He worked there at night helping students get through the GED program. He was there in the the late 70s and 80s he probably would recognize that sticker if he was still around.
Very cool
I happen to like the lines of the 70 and 71 Torino. My first car was a 71 Torino 500. It was a 4 door but it was my first bit of automobile independence.
Very cool, my red 70 is my first one
@@HotRodGuyGarage wow, that’s cool
@@uncleric3797 good memories for sure
From a modern perspective (and being from California) I can't believe somebody abandoned a 10 year old car. But then again my dad's '66 Mustang convertible project was a rustbucket by the time he bought it in 1980 as well. That car spent time in Colorado in the 70s before it came back to Cali and it showed.
Maybe check under the seats, your car might still have the build sheet present to see what options it has.
Yeah but imagine abandoning a 2014 Jeep Cherokee because the trans went out. It’s not worth spending $5k on a vehicle worth $5k
Absolutely
But cars used to rust and rust bad and fast back then on the East Coast. When my parents moved to California from Michigan in 1966 they said when you factored in that you didn't have to replace your car every few years, that even with higher housing costs everything came out just about even.
Most of the rust on this thing was from driving it not from it sitting since 1980.
There are a lot of nice/good/decent parts on that car!
There is tons of small stuff that is great
Possible engine and granny for the mustang you brought home
Possibly
Reminds me of uncle bucks car 😊😊😊😊
Nooo, he had a ‘77 Mercury Marquis. It’s a bucket list car for me. I’ve found a white one for sale for $3k about 2.5 hours away. I’m hoping to buy it next month for $2k as they are not desirable and it’s not exact but a good start.
I’ll probably never buy a ‘73 Torino 4 door like “The Dude’s” but it’s on my mind just like Mr. Lahey’s ‘78 Chrysler 4 door.
Definitely a parts car.
Yup sat way to long
YEP,classic case of "Fungus of the Mungus".PLUCK the power train, sell off the carcass.
Tin worms infested this one
@@HotRodGuyGarage "CARthritus" plus!!!
I think you can slap some bondo on it and shoot a can of primer on it and sell it as “paint ready.” Just be sure to mark it as “needs fuel pump, easy fix”
@@RustyZipper he'd need 1/2 a year supply of beer boxs to bondo over on THAT CRATE
Never!
Looks like good trim, grille, tail lights and bumpers. I'm curious about the drive train, might be okay. But the body? Yea, looks too far gone. I always liked the Torino and Cougar look (pre 1971).
That's about it, I've got the engine to turn over maybe it'll fire off in a few day
Your a good body man, take your time and bring her back to life, if parts availability is there.
I'm still deciding it's fate I've got some ideas
I love options, A/C is a big one to me and worth the cost of the car.
I say make it a torinoceptor! Mad max that thing😊
Definitely a thought
thats all the parts you need for the 66 mstang, eng. trans, front suspension .
Close
I assume the Mustang prepared you for this !😂
I just realized that you sound like Hank from King of the Hill.
Been called worse 😆
Mad Max car potential
Stock car tribute, etc it's got some potential to be something
@@HotRodGuyGarage my friend turned one of these Torino’s into a replica of the car used in the road warrior. The Australian counterparts are going for hundreds of thousands of dollars now unattainable. These cars look close enough to the Ford falcon to do this kind of replica.
It’s got good glass, build from there! 😂
Weld the panels to the glass 😆
If this Torino was a convertible; especially a 429 car, then it may be worth saving. Another example that would be worth restoring would be a gennie 1970 Montego gennie LAPD unit. I'm reasonably sure the survival rate's zero
Man forever I've been trying to figure out who you remind me of. It's Mr Garrison from South Park.m'kay 😂
Cold War Motors would tackle it.
It could be fixed but someone would have to love it and love welding
As long as you didn’t give more than scrap price for it, you did ok. Doubt the bench seat/column shift interior is in very high demand. 302’s are a dime a dozen, nobody is gonna want a worn out C4 trans.
Hopefully you can break even when you part it out.
The door top trim and the grill is were any money is
I will restore it just because i can not Meny can restore it but you can too
Quarter panel? I give it one eighth at best.
It at least has some semblance of them 😆
Memories, 1970's American sheet metal was really bad. By 5-6 years, rust would start to break through. (north east US experience.) I watched this happen specifically with a new Galaxy 500 , and my brother's new F-250. It figures that this critter came from the same region.
I can believe that!
Getting floors ,quarters trunk pans etc are made of unobtainium. That car is a basket case!!!!!😮
It’s not too bad. Seen worse.
Next stage past this is one that pulls in half
Well it's your call. One thing the rot and work is is plainly visible. The Mustang hack was buried in cosmetics. Not sure what after market panels , if any, are available. If you would have to search out a lot of original sheet metal may not be worth it. I always would rather see a rescue.. but within limits.
Sometimes there just too far gone, but it could live as a skin for another chassis
Getting floors ,quarters trunk pans etc are made of unobtainium. That car is a basket case!!!!!
What state r u in?
Tennessee
If you can save that 65 hack job mustang you can save this one
You can literally buy enough aftermarket sheet metal to build a Mustang from scratch. Not so sure about how much is available for this thing.
You can sell it to the guy who did the flip on the ‘65 Mustang hackjob. He can put 20 gallons of bondo and a paint job on it and sell it for 30k. Just kidding
Sheesh! 😆
I say look for a better CHEAP body and do a Starsky and Hutch.
Not many cheap sport roof cars anymore
I remember when $20k was a lot of money for a nice cruise in car. Then it was $30k for a 69 Camaro numbers matching blah, blah, blah. Now a dang rusted out pick up truck abandoned in a field for 20 years is fetching $10k 🤦♂️
Starsky and Hutch was actually supposed to be a Plymouth Satellite. However, the network had a deal with Ford supplying the cars. That's why I always thought that the Torino just didn't look right with that stripe, especially a 74 after it got the big bumpers and looked less sporty than it used to.
FIX IT.
Getting floors ,quarters trunk pans etc are made of unobtainium. That car is a basket case!!!!!
Yup I've built 3 and the first I can't find much reason to save
I think AMD has full floor and quarters now for gt only.
