You know what you do Dony? You save lives! But I have been knowing that for years
do you have a video of it?
use an acetylene torch
thanks
So I had a DR leaf vac in the shop. They are all basically the same thing and design. The center impeller is threaded but we did not have the "tool" which is basically a long threaded bolt. So i made one. We have plenty of other thread types and bolt sizes so I just used a standard thread bolt that was about the center size but none were as long as they needed to be so from working on 2 cycle and 4 cycle i used the old recoil rope trick. I used small diameter recoil rope and just kept stuffing it inside the hole so that it would not mess up the inside crankshaft threads. Recoil rope is a good piston stop for 2 cycle engines if you do not have one. I drilled and retaped the center of the original fan deep enough to use the rope that i jammed in there and a grade 8 bolt and wallah ! it finally slid right off the crank. If you do not have a shop and access to taps, nice drill bits etc. you can find the tool online and just buy that but its just basically a long threaded bolt with the end shaved down smooth like a punch to reach the bottom. This video was super helpful thought just to make sure how this dang fan comes off.
Dony, what do you do if you have a bigger bolt and different threads? how do you find one that wil fit to take the impeller off??? I have the same problem
Wow, the two camera view was very cool & professional!! Better than watching the news!
hey Dony i have a blower (backpack) it start maked noises when i push de full speed, noises like a metal in the engine, just star doing that and is new like a year old (one seson used) do you know whay? the brand is'' Husqvarna''150BT
Sweet picture in picture and could you do a video on how you edit your videos and what you use to do so.I just use my phone to edit my videos just wondering what I would need to do them better.
Thanks Dony. You are a great mentor with your vids
like the new picture in picture view Dony ! great video !
Nice video Don!
You're filming and editing is getting really good! ;)
I love to learn new tricks. Thanks for the video
What happens if you cant get it off with the bolt?
Thank you so much. You sir, are a lifesaver.
thanks dude
Thanks - Exactly what I needed to know
thanks for watching
We tried this and it still will not come off. Any ideas on what to do next?
Does the bolt have left hand threads on the shaft
This channel is awesome
I use corel video studio's latest
it's very difficult to just see on threads if they are metric or UNC you can put a M 6 mm on a 1/4"UNC it will enter but stops after 3 or 4 turns and vice verca I use a 10mm spanner on the M6 bolt and 11mm spanner on the 1/4" UNC
thanks, it takes a lot of patience, you're good too
find out if it's metric or imperial, try different bolts til you get it right or tap new threads
Did that on DR vac is a 7/16 th's or 9/16 th there was damage from a rock throws the
shaft out of round which which damage's the cylinder an cam. TU DOC.
Thanks 😊😆😁
Hi Dony,
What software (Name and Version No.) do you use as your video editor?
Thanks.
just one
ive had these rusted on so tight that i had to heat it red hot to get it to dislodge! arggg!!!
you're welcome
Why are these leaf blowers 4 cycle and the backpack ones 2 cycle?
just post it on your channel
Do you still have the engine
Thanks Donny
I have a MTD chipper shredder. It's about 10 years old. I can't get the chipper flywheel off. It looks similar to the fan. Any videos or tips to remove it. I tried screwing in a bolt by hand and with an impact gun. It won't pop. Help!!!
R all those blower the same ? As for taking the fan off
a lot of them yes
That so funny I pay some one to put off because I did see the thread lol
no i dont but i can make one were would you like me to send it
you know,i would have been fighting with that thing all day then end up chopping it off with a torch before i discovered thoes threads... most of the simple ideas require a master mind i guess. thanks for the tip,i will keep it in mind for when i need it!
I dread the day I ever have to do one of these again.
probably more torque with a 4 cycle
great video!
nice video thanks for the tip
smashing, allways nice to see helpfull designs :-)
Heat
i did this but I striped the bolt, I can't remove the bolt I tried to, remove it with air drive after all else failed, now what
