Home Decorators Collection - Cordless Cellular Shades/Blinds - How to Install/Overview

- This is an instructional video showing how to install the Home Decorators Collection Cordless Light Filtering Cellular Shades (from Home Depot) on the inside of the window openings. The video also includes the unboxing, how to measure your opening, and an overview of the product. The instructions included with the blinds were not very intuitive so I decided to make this video to help anyone who is struggling to get these installed. I'm not a professional and simply want to share my experience with the install. Hope this helps some other DIYers out there, thanks!
Thanks for the helpful advice. Finally a YT video that actually delivers useful info with no clickbait dramatic face. Just a guy hanging a shade and telling me how it's done. Again, thank you.
I have seen too many of those videos that don't actually show you anything useful, thanks!
You were a big help. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Thank you very much--clearest video I've seen on installing these shades.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this! I could not figure out the clips and was worried about tearing the shade. Success! Phew! 😉
Glad I could help!
I could not figure it out by the instructions in the box but your video explained it SO well. Success! Thank you.
You're welcome!
This was so helpful! And once I watch and you gave your tips, I was able to complete this without my husband! Woohoo! Thanks so much!!
That's awesome! Glad I could help!
Thank you for this super helpful time saving tip!
You're welcome!
Thank you for the clear view of the instructions @7:05 and clarifying that the one side goes in first. This was the last set of blinds I put up and somehow the most difficult X-)
No problem! They can be a bear to install.
Our box was missing the instructions, your video was clear and easy to follow. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you! Not very obvious. You solved the install problem for me.
You're welcome!
Thank you dude. HD's video for this was trash. You saved me a bunch of headache.
Sir, thank you so very very much. I did not catch that there was a front and back to the blinds. It was driving me crazy not having success attaching to the mounts. You saved my sanity and I was able to get the satisfying "click" and huzzzah! Thanks again!
You are very welcome!
Thank you. It was driving me crazy! 👍🏻
You're welcome!
Thanks, i hate the clips, once i got it.. it was easy but getting to easy was a nightmare so youtube, your 12:31 video saved me.
You're welcome!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Revealing the notches are not the same size at the top solved the problem ! Flipped the blind around and easily clipped into the brackets after much frustration and consideration to just leave it hanging as is !
You're welcome!
This is a great video! The instructions that came with the blind are not the best but your trick of pushing up around the back clip was all I needed. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Very helpful! Those clips are ridiculous but your step by step made all the difference. Thank you!!
Great to hear!
Great video! You helped me immensely!
Nicely done! Thanks…
Mike
Glad to hear it!
Thanks for making this video. I am a pile of shit when it comes to installing anything
You're welcome!
Thank you a million.yay🎉🎉
You're welcome!
Fantastic video thanks bro❤❤❤
You’re a lifesaver! Unfortunately I really messed up the *correct* front side of the shade by trying to force it in backwards. I had no idea the top of the shade had two different heights. 😅
I nearly made the same mistake installing the first shade. There was nothing in the instructions that specifically says there is a front and back. Literally the only indicator is the small diagrams in the instructions that show it. I'm glad this helped you out!
Hah I finally figured out that I was trying to hang these upside down when watching this video 😂😂
Glad this helped!
Thank you. Very helpful 👍
Glad it helped!
nice video
Thanks!
Very helpful. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Wow - thank you so much! Great tutorial
You're very welcome!
Thank you I’ll be installing these today so excited 😆 how have they heals up?
They have held up well. No complaints so far!
Any chance on a removel video? I put these up with the help of this video, thank you! Unfortunately i need to have a window replaced and don't want them in the way for the window guy
I have not removed them yet. If I do I will be sure to update, thanks.
Thanks for the installation video. They only come in 48" and 72" length. I got the custom cut width to 25" but need to shorten the pull down to 61". Is there a way to do that?
I don't think there is any way to shorten the pull down length, but I'm not sure if that is really necessary. The shades are designed to stay bunched up at the bottom so as long as they are long enough to cover the window you should be good.
Thank you so much.
For everyone who installed these, how long did it take you?
Once I figured out the process probably 10-15 min. per shade. Getting the clips installed properly is hardest and most time consuming part.
@@StephenLaGrange thanks! We just got ours up and this video made such a difference, thank you!
I think 10-15 per shade is exactly how long it took us, too. The second one went faster.
Mine didn't come with the instruction sheet. Thanks for posting!!
Glad this helped you out! The included instructions did not explain things very well, so I tried to highlight those parts in the video. Thanks for the comment!
I have west facing windows that get lots of sun and I'm considering a similar setup to you to customize . Cordless top down shades with double curtain rod (sheer + blackout) on top. Does that generally work well for you? Is there a reason why you had the curtain rods so high up from the edge of the window?
Based on another video it looks like hanging curtain rods 2-3 inches from the ceiling and wider than the window makes it look better. Which makes sense. Would still be interested in how the double curtain rod setup + shades are working for you 🙂
Yep, we hung the curtains that way for the look. We really like the double curtain + shade setup. We use the cordless shades more often day to day. They provide privacy, but we also like the defused light coming in. The curtains/rod are still nice to have for the look and if they are closed with the shade closed you basically get a blackout effect. This setup gives you a lot of options and in my opinion looks a lot better than just having the cordless shades by themselves.
@@StephenLaGrange Thanks. I was thinking about getting the day/night shades. But the curtains + shade options seems more versatile. That's what I'll try out!
OMG dude! THANK YOU for pointing put the difference in rail sides on the blind! I thought i was loosing my mind? The instructions really DO NOT make that very clear at ALL.
How to remove an installed blind/sheer
I have not yet removed any of them. If I ever do I will be sure to update, thanks.
Thank you! Both my boxes did not come with instructions 😅
Edit: Nevermind they are inside the plastic wrapping!! 😂 BUT I already watched your vid and can install from that.
The instructions were not the most intuitive anyway, but I'm glad the video helped!
ARRGGHH!!! >>> Thank You :)
Glad the video helped!
I hate the picture instructions!!! Thank you for your video. Now that you have yours all up, how about you take them down so we can see how do that?😊 I've tried a couple of ways and am afraid I'm going to break the shade.
I have not taken them down yet and don't really plan to. If I do for some reason I will be sure to update, thanks.
How can I uninstall a Home Decorators Collection cordless cellular shade without damaging or removing the brackets?
I have not uninstalled any of them and I don't plan to. My advice is to do it very carefully.
Thank got for this video, instructions are trash. Had no idea the two sides that pop in were different
Yep, the included instructions do not show that clearly, thanks.
can someone please explain to me how to click it in. Ive watched it and tried to understand what i can be doing wronf , but still dont understand. :(
There is a point in the video when I show a close up of the top part of the shade clicking in. That is the point you need to apply the pressure to get it clicked in.
Do you have a video on how to restring this brand of blind?
No, I only installed the cordless version.
Video starts at 4:05
Nevermind, video starts at 5:30
What color are these?
I believe these are "Snow Drift". Thanks for the question!
Can’t he throw back end to clock in properly to save my life
Put up a donation link so I can send you a small thank you!
I finally added a PayPal link to my channel page, thank you!
Day 3 trying to push them into the clips. We are 80 years old and this is crap.
They are tricky. It still takes some force to get them into the clips. I did notice some clipped in easier than others and it might have been because I had those mounts lined up better. Good luck!
You were a huge help. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
