    i think this is the best and the simplest vid on youtube for making a water rocket+launcher !
    nice work!

    We built one of these soon after seeing it on TV. Easy to assemble. (Give the glue a day to dry!) We experimented with different amounts of water and different pressures. We tend to fill it about 1/3 full. 30-60 psi worked just fine. I read somewhere that the bottles will fail around 120 lbs. (Haven't tried that!)

    It will work with any bottle that just slides onto the pipe. If the opening of the bottle is not matched, then it will not seal. Making a small bump on the plastic pipe is what holds the pressure in.

    Some people have sanded the pipe to a slightly narrower diameter so the bottles just slide on perfectly. In North America we don't have to do that, but measurements are slightly different in other places.

  • @sciencetoymaker
    @sciencetoymaker  12 років тому

    @afiq8219 Actually, I think conduit will work if it is the right size to fit in the bottle. We don't come anywhere close to the pressure that would rupture the pipe.

    @afiq8219 Yes, whatever works to get the air pressure inside the pump.

    @TRTtherocketthing As I say in the video, years ago Australian Ian Clark put up the idea to use zip ties to hold/release the bottles. I enjoyed your videos.

    @afiq8219 Yes, but I expect there would be a lot of experimenting to actually get it to fly well.

    Very Nice.I am happy that these actives are still alive. I see many kids playing
    Video Games,but these video games don't give you knowledge.These experiments will give you knowledge and you will be able to make your new inventions, in future.
    sciencetoymaker I want to ask you that can i reuse this launcher.I mean i will shoot the bottle and then I will fill it again ,can i use it again?

    Hi, quick question(: When pumping my bike pump, the water from my soda bottle began to leak a lot. Do you know what I can do to stop the leak, I did everything you did in your video though. Should I make the indent in the PVC pipe larger?

  • @sciencetoymaker
    @sciencetoymaker  12 років тому

    @TSK213 That and more at the sciencetoymaker website, linked in the text area.

  • @sciencetoymaker
    @sciencetoymaker  12 років тому

    About 30cm high and 10 wide. You don't have to use 2 liter--any size will work as long as the spout just fits onto the pipe. I like your hot air balloon flying video.

    What size PVC pipe do you use to hold to zip ties in place?

  • @sciencetoymaker
    @sciencetoymaker  14 років тому

    @cdltpx Yes, there is another website called antigravityresearch that uses smaller diameter openings to stretch out the power.

    @afiq8219 I'm puzzled.Auto part stores might not be common, but there are automobiles in Malaysia. Find a person who fixes tires.

  • @sciencetoymaker
    @sciencetoymaker  12 років тому

    It could be a number of things. The zip ties have to be adjusted (with the pipe clamp) to hold the bottle to the bump. The bump in the pipe has to be symmetrical. There could be a crack in the stem of the bottle.It usually comes down to pressurizing a bottle and looking very closely at.what's going on.

    @101smallface Yes, it can be short. I make it long because I'm afraid it will hit someone on the way up. Kids are impulsive, like to get wet, and they move fast.

    However it would create an issue that springs because of how thin they generally are would be too loose themselves. And using a larger spring would only make it harder to use. Sorry, I have a bit of firing mechanism knowledge.
