    This is a great tutorial. It's very detailed, but not to long so you did a good job. :)
    Unfortunately most of the PVC pipes you're using are not available in Germany and many other european countries. We tried to build a cable tie launcher some time ago, but we had problems to get all the pipes.
    Anyways, I'm also looking forward to your upcoming project, looks pretty interesting. :)

      RaketfuedRockets Yes, that's true that we live with incompatible pipe standards. We considered making a "generic" tutorial with specifications for metric pipes that would work, but it is difficult to get metric pipe here unless it is special ordered and that is expensive. We hope that people with different local pipe standards can take enough inspiration from the tutorial to get suitable replacement components for their launcher locally. They can copy the design and use the closes matching parts they have that fit together the same way.

    I tried this design, but the quick conector has an air leak and won't pressurize the bottle. Any help would be great!

    Do you sell these pieces? How much are 4 or 5 pieces of these including delivery by plane or boat to Portugal? If the sell on EBAY was easier to buy them.

    Using Gardena parts and followed instruction details. My rocket does not go up very high. Flies very irratically and hits the ground. I have added fins, etc. Nothing works. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do differently?

      It's hard to know because I can't see the size of the rocket, but if it's only a 2l bottle, then you probably need more air pressure and/or some weight in the nose (clay is a good choice because it's not going to hurt you if the bottle explodes)

      i think thats too complicated like u need crazy tools, i mean there is a tutorial from air command rockets. but uswaterrockets already got free 3d model ready to be printed... SORRY FOR REPLYING SO LATE LMAO

    How would you use this with different sizes of nozzles

      This type of launcher does not lend itself to nozzle diameter changes because the bore is small to begin with and if you drill it out larger it might make the plastic too thin. You could probably reduce the size of the bore by gluing in a plug at the tip and drilling a smaller bore. But the size of the Gardena release mechanism that you use this with limits the size of the nozzle to a small range, so you won't be able to get more than a few mm larger or smaller hole with this type of release.

    i notice you use just a regular floor pump. i used one for rockets once and it was ruined after a few launches by water flowing back into it and messing up the seal. how long have you been using that one?

      aeshir This pump is about 10 years old and has been used for many years of water rocket launches. We also use it for inflating bicycle tires quite often. We use it so much we broke one of the plastic fittings that holds the hose on, and replaced it with a regular hose clamp. It seems odd that the water would ruin a perfectly good pump, because water will precipitate out of ambient air when you compress it. Most compressors have a drain valve so you can drain off the water that forms when you compress air. So, the seal should really not be something that would be ruined if it was wet. Perhaps it was just a bad seal to begin with? Or perhaps the water flushed some grit or dirt into the seal and caused it to stop working correctly?

      USWaterRockets yeah it was just a 12 dollar floor pump. i'm just worried about ruining my new-ish, now only floor pump (about a 20 dollar one), cause i have a compressor but my pump is also the only gauge i have that goes up high enough for road bike tires. i'll give it a try though! i miss doing water rockets

    The link to the 3D printed nozzle files do not work. Is there some where else I can get access to the files? This would be a great project for my Precalculus students!

      They tried using the metric system here, and the people didn't like it, so they went back to the imperial system with a few things remaining in metric units or a mixture of units.

    Or you can use a special "3/4npt" female Gardena part, and downsize the 3/4" with plumbing parts down to 1/8", and use a central heating boiler reservoir fill valve. 1/8npt to schrader. The nozzle size is a downside for me though, I like them fast.

      I would guess that you can use any tire valve that you could buy locally. Even a bike tire valve from an old inner tube would work if you made the hole in the end cap the correct size to fit the valve so it won't pop out.

      @@USWaterRockets bit late, but that is correct, I cut the piece with a valve out of a inner tube and I'm using it in my air gun. Almost 2 years in business, so that should prove it.

    I made mine, followed every step and for some reason every time I lock it in, it leaks water out of the tire shrader valve. Do you know why?

      I'm not sure I follow the exact problem you have. Is the water coming out of the valve itself where they air hose attaaches, or is it coming around the valve where it's connected to the PVC?

    Hi, my name is Jon Hoggard and i attend Kalkaska Public Schools in northern michigan. I am currently in astronomy, an elective offered here at Kalkaska High School and we shoot water rocket alot, but the best water rocket we have is just one 2 liter with a nose cone and wings, and its farthest flight was about 500' and i was wondering what you guys over at US WaterRockets thought was the best way to get the most distance from our 2 liter bottles? Should i splice 2 together? Should i cut both ends of the bottle and splice 3 together? How many bottles on top of that? How much weight in the front, how much water, and what preasure? How many wings? Any wings? Just looking for some advice, and looking to get any sort of feedback from you guys. Thanks, Jon.

      +jon hoggard if you are allowed to have more volume than 2 liters, then the way to go farther is to make the rocket from as many bottles as possible. A 3 or 4 foot long rocket will definitely go farther. Usually this is a good length because if you go too gig then the rocket will start to droop on the launcher and this will start to decrease the launch angle to the point it will be too low. You will need some fins, but the long rocket will allow you to make them smaller and use only 3 of them. The longer rocket will let you use less ballast in the nose as well, but you still need some to help with stability. One way to get a good design going is to look up a water rocket simulator online and plug in different sizes and shapes for the rocket and you can get a good idea what to build that will comply with the rules you need to follow.       +USWaterRockets I can do whatever i want to, my options are unlimited, no rules. I'm looking to get over 600 feet, and any more is just the same, but at least 600. so ill use about 6 bottles, but should they all splice together, and make them for more volume on the rocket? or should i just do the 2 bottles spliced together and use the other ones just for structure?

      +jon hoggard we really don't need to add weight to our rockets because we have a parachute recovery system controlled by a servo motor and an altimeter and a camera in the nose of our rockets. The weight of those parts plus the battery generally gives our rocket enough nose weight to fly perfectly stable. If you don't have these things on your rocket, then you might have to add some weight to the rocket to make it stable. Adding some modeling clay to the nosecone is a great way to do this. The amount of weight to add will vary depending on the size of your fins and length of the rocket. Your best bet for figuring out the optimum is to either use a simulator like OpenRocket or use test flights and adjust the weight amount and see what helps and what hurts.

    Hi guys i have a problem.When i release the bottle from launcher the bottle doesn't fly up deviates left or right I think it's because of the center of gravity.Because the nozzle itself weighs and this moves the center of gravity upwards I haven't made a rocket yet, I'm just testing with a normal bottle how can I solve this problem ?

      You can add fins to the back of the rocket and put some weight in the nose. This will help you with stability. Bottles are unstable to begin and adding the nozzle just makes a plain bottle more unstable. Fins and nose weight will correct that. Good luck!

      +DieselPunk Z Most people take the hose fitting and slice off the threaded part, leaving a flange behind, then they drill a hole in a soda bottle cap and push the trimmed hose fitting inside until the flange bottoms out in the cap. The rubber washers that came with the hose fitting seal the flange against the top of the bottle when you screw the thing on. Other people take the hose fitting and spread glue all over it and then force it on the top of the bottle. The threads are way different but they grip enough to screw the thing in place and then the glue cures and prevents it from coming off under pressure. It's stuck on there for good and you can't take it off though.

      DieselPunk Z I think it has to do with the size and weight of the base, the weight of the rocket, or how well the feet grip the ground. You might be able to tweak one of these items or all of them and get it to stay put. You could also make a hole in one of the legs and put a stake into the ground to make it stay in place.

    Cool video, So let me guess.. 3D printed camera housing, tornado tubes, parachute systems , fins , rail button, drone and it looks like a 2 stage nozzle. All home made with a 3D printer.
