- The Cleveland Way is a National Trail in the historic area of Cleveland in North Yorkshire, northern England. It runs 110 miles between Helmsley and the Brigg at Filey, skirting the North York Moors National Park. This is the kit I took with me to complete the hike.

I've got a pair of Bisley gaiters for shooting and that under sole strap is a steel wire. I've had them for many years
If you can track down some altra gaiters (or stick a bit of velcro to the back of the Montane ones) you can velcro them to the back of your Altras! There should be a tab on the back heel you can pull down to expose the velcro.
Not all models have it, if they don't they just add your own velcro.
Then, attach them to the tab at the bottom of your laces. Job's a goodun!
You forgot to mention the determination and effort you carry in your heart to begin the journey and the grit and steadfastness to see it through to the end.
The only human alive who could persuade me to look at the socks they were wearing while going for a walk!
When u put it like that🤣🤣🤣
Haze would love to see you on podcasts you’d be so funny and entertaining 🤣
Is that ice cream van playing Roger Ramjet?
Fork handles or four candles? Haze is the man to watch these days
This is all well and good Haze but what I really want to know is - Howl Goo??
Hi mate , what is the light /blower/phone charger thingymajig thing called ? Love the channel
That knife is sweet…. Where can I get one 🙌
👍👍👍
Always interesting to see what people take on their long distance hikes, or any camps to be honest, love a bit of gear porn and always get tips and ideas so thanks lovely! 🥰
The Mini pump! Best bit of kit ever made!!!!!!
We don't need to hear about your personal business.
I think for me the comfort items are more about relieving anxiety. I took around 2 litres extra water recently on a beach camp so I knew I had excess and wouldn't run out. It made for extra weight but it made the whole trip less stressful for me.
A bit of comfort on longer distance hikes goes a long way. Wise words. I was told this when I was hiking and climbing in the swiss alps.
Cheers Hazey!
Hazey thanks so much for your videos! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your channels became a comfort for me mate! Watching videos from years ago because I’ve worked my way though everything! You are a top man and I’m sure I’m not the only one that appreciates you sharing your journey!🙌🏼
I’m on the South Downs will look forward to that one…….thank again for the great informative entertainment….)
Yes Hazy, I’m ready for the upload of the next one mate 😊 see the on the morro 🤙
🎶 Overground,underground, bimbling free. ❤️❤️🎶
Very informative indeed hazey and as always full of banter.A know we’ve all heard it and been watching for days but I’d just like to say rest easy Liz thanks for the work you done. All the best lad 👍🏻🇬🇧👍🏻🇬🇧👍🏻🇬🇧
Could you talk more about how the CBD helps? I'm interested 😊
Yours is one of the only intros I watch because - falling in water and bacon.
The actual excitement when I see the hazeoutdoors new vid notification and the pure sadness when there’s 1 minute left of the video 🤣
Great rundown mate and loved, loved, loved the Cleveland Way series 💯 Just glad you made it home before becoming a shriveled husk "medic!" case 👍
Quality as always, looking forward to the bag video as considering upgrading myself.
Hey @Hazeoutdoors how hard is it to get out and do multi day hikes. Like what are the mental necessities you need to get out for that long? Just wondering thanks. Cameron😂
Always interesting...👍
top notch, reminded that simple is better
Love your content man, top class banter, championship puns, and even the odd bit of philosophising... best wishes from Ireland.
Mic Check! Mic Check! Ever even to Rage against concert? Well that song was great. What a time..
Hazey lad . Have a peek at souls untapped . Great guys !
Collab af
Every episode of the Cleveland way (which was an amazing watch btw) i thought "how the hell does he manage to bang out >20 miles with full camp kit on board?". Ive been doing the South West Coast path and lugging my gear up some of those hills feels, i imagine, like being a tortoise. Im done at 15 miles. 20 miles with a day bag is also hard graft and i'm a fit marathon trail runner. i doth my cap. Keep up the great videos
nice one
Loved this series as a Boro lad knew most of the routes respect ✊🏿
Another good video on gear
Get yourself some Stepones for you crown jewels brilliant for long walks/hikes , best ove used . Look forward the next adventure.
I've been wearing Darn Toughs for a while along with the Altra Lone Peaks. Light bulb moment.... Why am I wearing trail runners that allow my feet to spread but socks that don't. Game changer... Injinji toe socks. Did the Coast 2 Coast in a pair of Injinji liner socks and Altra Lone Peak 6. Feels like each of your toes are gripping the ground and no blisters.
Love these videos. Thank you Hazy 🙂 Always good to see what others take as even if you don’t use the same gear there’s usually something you pick up to take on your next trip. For me….. the Icebreakers as I had similar issues on a recent trip.😮
Try step one boxers. Very comfortable and reduce chaffing!
Hey pal. Does the new osprey exos still squeak like crazy?
Mine doesn’t thankfully
@@HazeOutdoors interesting. Maybe they fixed it since last version? I've often found nylon bags built on a rectangle type frame (compared to one or two vertical struts) seem to always squeak as they rub against the frames. I know many people had issues with the last version of the exos due to this. But maybe new one isn't effected?
Just cracked the Cleveland Way! Love the videos! And these were a great help in deciding daily stops... But you don't show just how tough it is! Left Helmsley at 15,10 with ovvernight camping at Osmotherley YHA, Kildale (Park Farm) used bunkhouse - less effort!, Hinderwell, bed at Boggle Hole YHA and camp at Filey.
Osmotherley to Kildale may be the toughest day I have ever done, (Especially when navigational incompetences adds 3 miles!) although Kildale to Hinderwell was also a long, hard day!
you
Gaiters; do you realy feel they are necessary to prevent incoming "bits" around the ankle. I am considering a Seal Skinz Halo Light Gaiter but primarily for bad weather.
Another great vid! I love Altra running shoes. I got the Altra gaiters which Velcro to the back of the Altra shoes, and they have a hook for the front. Been brilliant. Well thought out by Altra.🤙
Thanks for this! You're right about the Saxx keks, I've gone through 2 pairs that both fell apart while hiking. Not great!
Did half the Cleveland Way last week with my GF had two great nights wild camping and walking. I did the other half a couple of years ago. Also you can't beat those Osprey Exos but Gregory make great packs too for similar money. I'm trying to talk my self out of one ! I also have the Copper Spur 2 tent love it ..I thought when I was walking wonder how many times Haze walked this way being a local Whitby lad..
Ahhh just what I need, been up all night with the shits feeling proper down in the dumps, much love brother
Nice informative video cheers hazy
8:38 Hooray! I'd feared we'd get to the end & not see them. They're like the "cuddly toy" on the Generation Game conveyor (one for the more "mature and distinguished" hikers out there).
Well done for hit 100,00
Change your gaiter straps to a bit of dyneema cord, it lasts for ages.
I'm not a camper (oo err missus) Im just here for the bants - Quality as always :)
No bants on this one mate. The banter wagon rolls out again for the South Downs way hike
*poo banter at best
@@HazeOutdoors Good point - killed 15 mins anyway :)
Poo bants eh ? YES! back of the net, Who could ask for more.?
In all seriousness, even with a poor delivery in the bants arena it's always refreshing listening/watching someone with a 'Good Heart' What can be more important in life than developing, having and sharing a good heart ? :)x
For the life of me i can't understand how you don't have thousands of subs mate..so many great videos, top entertainment and informative mate you deserve more subs
Well he's on 101K subs, so he's not doing too badly 😜
Your kit is almost a duplicate of what we carried on The Colorado Trail (minus the bear-proofing!). Shoes-wise I had some Lone Peaks but upgraded last minute to the Altra Olympus 4’s (with Vibram sole). They were absolutely BRILLIANT and gripped much better than the Lone Peaks (which I already loved). Lasted all 500 miles of some brutal territory. Worth a look if you’re replacing the Lone Peaks.
Thank you so much. Excellent run through of your gear. I have the Xtherm. Wondered how the one you've shown compares with the Xtherm please (or is Xtherm overkill for hot weather hikes lol). Looking forward to your next vid. Take care ⛺🚶♂️👍
Try phizz, the are electrolits and also minerals. Great for recovery
You are the most likeable person on UA-cam.
I hope you get the sponsors & YT income you deserve - so you can go full time Haze Outdoors & earn a decent income.
My kit is very similar
Ice cream van! Enough said.
Fuckers at Montane flat-out told me I couldn’t buy more straps for the Via Gaiters. I bought 3mm stretch cord from Amazon and made my own.
Used the new Exos 48 on CWT this year and it was great apart from the side pockets being too small for much.
Use Velcro at the back instead of straps. I did post a non affiliate Amazon link to the montane via gaiters that I use but it got deleted.
@@swampyhiker I wear Brooks Cascadia so I cut a little hold on the rubber part at the back of the gaiters and feed the Cascadia’s Velcro gaiter loop through. Works great.
Mush the electrolytes was sound advice took some along on Cleveland Way last week cheers bud
You're looking a bit slim fella...never mind about fattening robin up !
I went to get the exos last year but the numpties had removed the hipbelt pockets so I went for the kestrel instead but now the new version as got the pockets back grrr
but what is the difference with exo 48L 2022 version? the man has left me hanging! ;)
Hi hazy good video mate some good kit in there Cleveland way video was awesome felt for you in that heat right enough what an awesome trip great guy with great content stay well and take care buddy look forward to your next escapade 👍👌🙏❤
Interesting load out.Great to see your thoughts on the gear we saw you use in the three videos.
It was a shame you ran low on batteries for the last stretch, being my local area.
I hope you stopped at Lucy's in Cayton Bay,she does a mean butty n hotdog.
Medic! How you doing lad? Are you home now? I just got home from a walk but, only 3 mile. It's Sunday and I'm knackered.
Mate love these #ShowUsYourSack videos. Only really ever done the one over nighter but I’m edging towards the more multi dayers. Keep up the great work! 👍
Uncle Hazey i am not sure what size fine Turds you lay but i am the same height as you and i lay healthy one pounders that smell like perfume and form the shape that a master stone mason would be proud of and i always carry a knife ( just in case it fights back) so IMO there's no need to take a gardening tool that weighs 50 grams plus when you can just cut a hole in the ground . If you have to dig a trench big enough to bury a 10 litre rucksack then just ignore my hint and happy digging :)
Wished you made this vid last week , i thought you wore ON shoes , i decided to get a pair based on your milage , trapsed round Geordie land for ages in the rain to get a pair 😂
I had a can of you’re Nmonk patron beer last night .. nice .. shame about the lad on the can 😉
Hey dude, been watching for a few years now and you really did inspire me to get back out in the wild.. I am ex military and I lost my way if you want to call it... Then finally got some good gear in over the passed wee while also. Got a wee question if you wouldn't mind answering.. What's your thoughts on the Military gear, I have pretty much bought the whole rig I had in the forces, IE -40 sleeping bags x3, OEX 2 man tent (Amazing if in my opinion) Bergans, Lowa boots and so on... As everyone knows they carry a lot (Bergans 120 ltr) but are heavvvvvy as... What is your suggestion, to carry roughly same gear but lighter.. Your bag came in at 7kg if I am correct, mine is sitting at 12... But don't get me wrong, its full of useful things, but I need to reduce it. What would be your recommendations?
Got to add, the -40 sleeping bag is obviously 4 seasons and not needed more times, but its sitting at 3kg itself... Tent is 2,2.. Thats 5 already...
That's sounds like a heck of a lot of kit. But if it's comfort then go for it. I found this guy useful to watch about gear and what's best for military Vs non military gear check him out. Prepared pathfinder he's good.
@@andrewschofield7452 Thanks, yeah its a bit much and I ain't as fit as I once was ✌
@@an4rki26akastevew2 no worries mate. I'm like that as well. Not as fit as I was and end up trying to take everything and the kitchen sink 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Hope you enjoy the walking again👍
@@andrewschofield7452 Ha, me too... I like my gadgets.. Been at least 20 times in 2 years including last weekend, and plan to go in a week again.. It was "getting up and out" that was the hardest part, but once I was sitting alone, without the buzz of the electronics (I'm sure you know what I mean) just absorbing it... Man, nothing beats it... That's when we really feel free.. Pleasure speaking man, thanks again.
@@an4rki26akastevew2 no worries dude🙏👍😁
Hiya mate I see you didn't name drop the pump and it seems to be missing from your equipment list is there any reason for that, or is it me talking Rhubarb with me Sunday beer goggles on
Are you meaning the air pump?
Dude I love your videos and you. But UA-cam content creators irritate me. I have done multiple long distance hikes. PCT, at and via de la Plata to name 3. Why do you all talk crap "wo is me" blisters etc
Interested to know more about the Kent CBD. 10%, 15% or 20% Broad spectrum hemp oil? Not sure which you use. Husband has arthritis but we still walk & get out. Off to Buttermere next week, so wouldn't mind buying some.
Best CBD I've personally used is the Doze CBD Gummies. I'm not affiliated in any way but they really work
Question Paul - do you actually own a duvet and do you sleep on the floor at home, for practice?
Was that the DD Glory hole or?
Are those electrolytes really funcioning? 🤠✌️ Any of those items you didn't use on Cleveland hike? Sorry for my English 👋🇱🇹
Hazy how did you get rid of the horrible plastic taste from your Cnoc vector bud? I've tried loads of different things but it still tastes like a chemistry set!! 🤔😔
Electrolytes work well but I’m not really fussed about the taste, it’s mainly just to stay alive 😊
Try lemon juice in water, freezing it, repeat till gone. I detest that taste too. Got the flavour out of my water bladder doing this. Might have used some flavour water drops too while there was the tail end of the taste there, but no need now. I did learn that some people taste it more than others.
I soaked mine in water for a few days with baking soda in
@@weka6533 Sounds good - I'll try that.
@@SteveSeadog I hope it works for you. I think some plastics taste awful no matter what you do. Hopefully you don’t have one of those. My bladder lost the taste quicker than my hose did. So for a little while there I was dumping the fist bit of water to get fresh water in the hose to drink.
Can't believe I've only just found out about the other channel? Anyways, subbed there because yes.
Always appreciate a good kit video. It really helps to see what other people take, and you can pick up tips and tricks to help your own excursions.
Love watching these. I can't wait until I do one. I'm gonna get abused.
