  • Grieving is part of the human experience but there are many myths about grief that can keep us stuck or add guilt to the equation. Myths that range from “time heals all wounds,” or “staying busy keeps the grief away.” Grief needs to be dealt with but not denied. Some activities that can help include daily rituals to help release our grief to our Creator or writing a poem or song about how we feel. Writing a letter of appreciation to our loved one, whether they are still with us or not can help us resolve undelivered communications. Don’t try to go it alone though. Sharing our grief with someone who understands and cares can take the sting out of our emotions and helps us process them so they don’t get stuck. #grief #dementiacaregiver #dementia #caregiver #loss #dianechew

I have dealt mostly with the loss of the life I thought we would have. Now it's mostly isolation. I'm getting used to it. My wife of 54 years has MS and cognitive decline. I'm a recent follower of yours and find your short messages are very comforting and encouraging.

The symptoms got really dramatic in 2021. And no, he can’t. I have to be careful even to just go to another part of the house. But I definitely can’t leave him alone. Thanks so much for checking in with us and for asking. ❤
