not to discredit Max Lloyd Jones at all, but this new actor looks SO much more like young Mark Hamill than he does. they honestly don’t even need to use any deepfake and i’d buy that he’s Like Skywalker
it looks slightly off. he does indeed by the minor difference breaks the mold. sebastian stan would be better (IMO) because he resembled mark hamil but doesn't look so similar that it becomes uncanny
If Kathleen Kennedy finally retires and someone like Favreau becomes the new president of Lucasfilm (and assuming this Tech has developed enough by then), I'm completely on board for this and I sincerely hope it happens. But that would be quite the ballsy move, Disney might not go for it.
If they want Luke to have longer screentime without costing too much money on vfx or deepfake then they better hired Gram to be a legit Luke Skywalker moving forward.
I wish they had put that type of effort into the scrip. That being said, the improvements between Mando and BoB with Luke's deepfake, is staggering. Beyond technology, it was artistic, and a thanks to all the artists involved. It's the first time I've said that recasting is no longer necessary.
I don't really think that's the issue. Without a real face there, they're missing the authenticty of the performance, which is why we get this monotone face expression and voice.
0:44 no man, the technology was already far ahead, they just didn't know how to do it. That's why all these UA-camrs beat them by a mile with their far better recreations of the scene made with deepfakes
I’m sorry but Sebastian isn’t who I’d choose to recast Luke Skywalker he does not look like Luke to me. Graham Hamilton to me is the one who should be casted as Luke if they recast the whole original trilogy.
All this effort, and none of it means anything. You've fundamentally misunderstood luke. All those millions and you ignored the truth of the character.
You people always pretend like everything he changed was awful. Take off your nostalgia glasses for a few hours and take it easy. The only bad changes within those films is the Han v Geedo scene, “Bring my shuttle” being gone, and Jedi Rock. Every other change was for the better I’d say. Visual effects being fixed, long and drawn out shots replaced with quicker ones, a few shots added that don’t make or break, and scenes that should’ve been there from the start. If you still hate Hayden being added to ROTJ I’m sorry about that. I never include that in the bad section because I love it and I didn’t even watch the prequels until I was a late teen

The changes are amazing and add a better cohesion to the whole saga. Plus for us who grew up with the prequels I LOVEEE seeing Hayden as Anakin at the end of Episode VI
I dont know what people are getting out of this. Its weak content with no integrity. The studios are going the wrong direction if this is what they're pandering to. Hope this is the last we see of this.
Interesting opinion. Do you feel that the content is weak and lacking in integrity because the characterization of originals like Luke is not in line with what we've seen previously or is it that the new characters' development is perhaps out of line with established themes in star wars? I would also understand not liking Disney's wokeness but the majority of Mando and Boba shows felt less woke in my opinion than say the sequels.
stop being a virgin and enjoy the shows brouv, the shows are great. maybe you'd be granted a better perspective on the new content if you didn't have a stick so far up your ass and maybe whined like a reddit neckbeard a little less 0.o

It's almost kinda freaky how much he looks like a young Luke/Mark Hamill lmfao
I do t think the new guy looks that much like Mark in real life. It is the technology that makes it work.
@@juniperdog5523I'm inclined to agree. There's a resemblance, but I think people exaggerate it quite a bit.
So many of these dismissive comments about this amazing new technology
I grew up with ILM's work and got to work there for a short time but come on guys. JUST HIRE AN ACTOR!!!
"The technology was still developing" Yeah, that's why they hired Shamook
This guy looks like Luke even without Deepfake ...
it looks slightly off. he does indeed by the minor difference breaks the mold. sebastian stan would be better (IMO) because he resembled mark hamil but doesn't look so similar that it becomes uncanny
@@youngmaster7405 it’s also that he’s awkwardly holding his face still to make it easier for the VFX artists lol

This still gives me the chills. Luke in mando made me cry like a little kid and I’ll never forget it!
Same, brother
nice i like it thanks
I would love to have a series centered around Luke Skywalker set somewhere between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens
And so would every other SW fan. But instead we get Disney's garbage messaging. Again & again & again & again
They really pulled it off, Impressive most impressive
Deepfake the original three . Luke , Leia and Han and make a new Trilogy. They would make BILLIONS.

The generosity of Mark to mentor the young actor. Unreal.
If they want Luke to have longer screentime without costing too much money on vfx or deepfake then they better hired Gram to be a legit Luke Skywalker moving forward.
Too late i'm afraid. They've already started with the deepfake, they aren't going back now.

Although it should be.
The face is very realistic and looks like Luke. However, it is missing textures and facial lines that Mark has by the end of RoTJ
I don't really think that's the issue. Without a real face there, they're missing the authenticty of the performance, which is why we get this monotone face expression and voice.
Ah skywalker.... missed you have i
The saga is NOT over!
"ILM Technology" AKA Shamook.
Ahsoka, Cody, Kallus, and Qui-Gon will be in Kenobi!!!
That would really unite star wars fans together once again after hiccups
That's a bit much. Obi series feels like it will be a more content story. Let's not pooped on it by saturating it with a bunch of fan service cameo's.
Nope
So you were correct about only one of those lol.
Now please go back and fix Rogue One as a special edition. The facial CG absolutely kills the immersion in that film.
Nice work Shamook, we need the audio to not be disturbing next.
Yeah.. Not enough inflection, a little too monotone.
Where most would sue for doing it better than they did, it’s great that Star Wars and ILM hired Sam (deepfake) in order to improve their product.
0:44 no man, the technology was already far ahead, they just didn't know how to do it. That's why all these UA-camrs beat them by a mile with their far better recreations of the scene made with deepfakes
They maybe could just use sebastian stan and be shelling out a little less but maybe thr cost would be thr same due to his price I'm not sure
ILM never fails to push the visual envelope! Great to see these innovators keeping that George Lucas tradition alive.
It’s really amazing stuff. The face is perfect. Voice I’m sure will be perfect soon
It’s about time they use deepfake in movie production. They could have done this years ago for Solo.
This tech would have been great with Tarkin in rogue one. It wouldn’t be as jarring as a full CGI character
Redo the deepfake for tarkin, leia, solo, and all movies and series where another actor has portrayed the original!
I liked Tarkin's deepfake
@@junjunsay93 Tarkin wasn't the perfect. He was completely CGI, and it shows. My man looks like a PS5 real-time cutscene.
They nailed it
2:20 Really shows how Mark’s nose was completely reconstructed after his accident in 78. So sad.
The Force, The Jedi and that Sequel Trilogy, it's all true
His eyes looks darker than the real version of Mark Hamill
They could just get Mark a face lift, no? Job done!
He still can't do the stunts coz of his age.
I’m sorry but Sebastian isn’t who I’d choose to recast Luke Skywalker he does not look like Luke to me. Graham Hamilton to me is the one who should be casted as Luke if they recast the whole original trilogy.

@Gabo Flores probably talking about the sequel trilogy
Gabo Flores For sure talking about the sequel fanfaction
Yeah, blame the VFX team working on the Disney Plus shows for the writing of the sequel trilogy. Makes sense.

lucas butchered the original films with the changes. i will only watch the originals

Unlikely. This is how it's going to be for a long time, until they no longer even need actors to serve as a template anymore.
