Hearing David Tennant's voice in Just Cause 3 was kinda cool. I had never played a Just Cause game and when I heard the audio come on I wasn't expecting it but it's made clearing every military installation a bit more enjoyable over the repetitiveness of liberating every location in the game.
Charlie Brooker's character in Sniper Elite 3 was never explicitly called 'Charlie Brooker', and despite some VERY heavy hints, the Propaganda Minister in Just Cause 3 was never explicitly called 'David Tennant', so if it's only the celebrity's voice that matters then I would argue that it's impossible for Nolan North to cameo in a video game. The man IS video games.
It's always... uh... 'interesting' when a game makes a huge deal out of introducing a caracter I'm supposed to know. Like Roddy Piper. That fight scene was even weirder for me because I had no idea who he was, whether he was an ally or foe, nothing. Watching that fight go on had me weirded out for sure.
So in Halo 2, when you're defending the human city as Master Chief, Laura Prepron (from that 70's show) and David Cross (from Mr. Show) both show as Marines that can assist you. Laura's character gives you the shotgun, while Cross plays one of the Marines that wields a Rocket Launcher and helps you out crossing the bridge in the tank. I'd wager very few people saw either coming.
Speaking as a fan of Carpenter's body of work, I got super psyched playing SR4 and seeing Piper show up, because ... they might do it, they might actually refer to that scene, and ... my fandom was mightily serviced, let me tell you.
I'm sad you didn't put in Nicole, Spartan 458, from Dead or Alive 4. I mean think about it. A Spartan, wearing half a ton of armor, being tossed around like a rag doll by an old man, an actual demon, super ninjas, even by young teenagers! Also it would have been fun if you add in the reason why she was in the game.
Cameos are not limited to real life celebrities. It's the same exact thing when a character from one game appears as a guest star in another game (and usually from a different company).
I got introduced to MJ by playing Ready 2 Rumble, i was young, so i thought he was a legit boxer, and i thought he was the coolest boxer ever, literally my favorite character, now my favorite singer, we really need another Ready 2 Rumble, the new gen will never understand how fun goofy games used to be
So I'm somewhat between the dictionary definition and this videos target audience, to me Cameo sang "word up" in 1986.i still remember it on the sky tv advert that featured Total Recall, never thought an oxbox video would make me think about the the never ending ebb of time.

Yakuza 6 deserves a mention in this category for not only featuring world acclaimed director Beat Takeshi as a character, but also a whole bunch of wrestlers from the NJPW promotion, including the at the game's release World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.

I feel that the Grande thing was also a reference to the various bunny like races that have appeared in some Final Fantasy games, like the tactics games, and Fran from 12
Does Morgan Freeman count for South Park The Stick of Truth and South Park The Fractured But Whole? Since it’s celebrity impersonation, probably not. There was also George Lucas in The Secret of Monkey Island, after paying the troll toll. George Lucas was also in Skyrim 🤣. Never mind, that was just a funny series I watch called Skyrim For Pimps. Mods can give you all kinds of cameos, but I guess that doesn’t count. At least it doesn’t count canonically Keith David playing himself in a video game? We all know him as Captain/Councilor/Admiral Anderson from Mass Effect. Before playing Mass Effect 3, I read a comic in which Udina was Councilor. I was all like WTF. Then I started planning Mass Effect 3 and selected the codex pages. Oh. So having Anderson punching Udina in the face and getting your revenge for getting stabbed in the back was for nothing? Oh well. Some players seem to prefer Udina even after what he did, only tried that once to see what it was like
I'm sad Imissed out on Dangerous Ariana and had to settle on Chic Ariana to fight alongside my FF allstar team of Lara Croft, a Dragon Quest Slime, and a couple people from Just Cause 3. Truly the Finalest of Final Fantasy teams.
I'm sad that I was *around* for Dangerous Ariana, but had just started so I didn't get her 6*. Then missed the re-run by a week when I came back. She's the last one I need for my collection, too - can almost field a full bloody team.
aw man that's rough...hopefully they bring it back at some point, but idk how the rights for that specific event pan out. At least you can get Deus Ex peeps at the moment, which isn't as ridiculous but is equally final fantasy related?
Actual plot worth a damn, for starters. FFRK took what, 2 years to actually start trickling out a tiny bit of a story once a month? Whereas FFBE has had a compelling one from the start and does fairly decent updates bi-monthly barring hiccups. And a bit better then the repetitive brick-to-the-brain that Mobius FF (which was originally touted to bring a 'console experience to mobile', laughably) and less bland then Dissidia Opera Ominia's plot thread. Generic anime in places, sure, but it's... probably one of the better FF plotlines from a non-main series. And probably as good or above some of those. Factor in solid sprite work, good mechanics, and being able to get some absurd distance with 'budget' teams you can't in FFRK... Eh. I prefer it. To each their own, though.
is FFRK even still possible to download? Also, the art sucks in comparison to BE, the combat sucks in comparison, and it didn't have the active support that BE does.
The game has basicly ALOT of characters from other Ff games. And games that were doing collabs with the FFBE team. Like the lara croft event. And atm the deus ex machina mankind divided thing
it's a great game, I'm playing it as I watch :D Also, the Deus Ex collab is just weird, don't know why they launched it now, years after the newest Deus Ex.
What about Danica Patrick in Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed? Or, y’know, anyone from the following list: - Team Fortress 2 - Yogscast - Reck-It Ralph - A random Football Manager - A random Shogun - A Dreamcast Controller Sonic & All-Stars doesn’t descriminate.
Here in the States they showed They Live (and I think there was a sequel, as well) almost every weekend on TBS and/or TNT and/or UPN from about 1992 until 2000. and there was no sequel. i'm trying to figure out what i watched that basically looked like a sequel that also had the same looking aliens and a different lead with the same haircut that was part alien, i think?
It's not just Ariana Grande, there's also Lara Croft (the original Lara Croft) as well as characters from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided inside Brave Exvius I might miss some others in the game.
Yeah, atleast the Deus Ex:Mankind Divided, Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3 and Neir banners are because the games are under SquareEnix's umbrella... The Ariana event made absolutely no sense.

The man IS video games.
Roddy and Keith's fight in They Live is legendary....RIP Hot Rod
I honestly remember being super confused about the Roddy Piper cameo, but i just accepted it because hey, Saints Row 4 was weird.
I mean that's not really a cameo though. That's just them voicing the characters they were assigned.
Speaking as a fan of Carpenter's body of work, I got super psyched playing SR4 and seeing Piper show up, because ... they might do it, they might actually refer to that scene, and ... my fandom was mightily serviced, let me tell you.
4:36 when I heard the voice over, I threw down my Switch and yelled NO WAY!!! Now I need to get Just Cause 3, because he's my favorite actor
I have beaten the main story of JC3 and never heard him... Was too busy blowing stuff up
I loved the Roddy Piper cameo in Saints Row IV. RIP Rowdy Roddy.
Didn’t the guy who voiced the Vice President in saints row 4 also voice Anderson in mass effect
Pretty sure she's on the first video
@@jonathann.5754 really? I think I didn't see that one.
Saw her in an other video.
@@fredbyoutubing never found and now I remember seeing her in it. Outsidexbox Xtra in the channel though.
Yeah, she was in another Cameo video. This one is Celebrities in games, that video was video game characters showing up in other video games.
You forgot that Nolan North also voiced every Arkham inmate ever in Asylum, City and Knight
00:50 Sniper Elite 3. (Mike)
02:42 Tekken 7. (Andy)
04:17 Just Cause 3. (Jane)
06:33 Saints Row 4. (Mike)
08:25 Deadpool. (Andy)
09:50 Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius. (Jane)
11:57 Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2. (Mike)
14:03 Outro. (Andy)
I see Sniper Elite, I upvote.
In Deus Ex 2 they had a cameo by Free Dominguez from the band Kidneythieves 😀
Cameos are not limited to real life celebrities. It's the same exact thing when a character from one game appears as a guest star in another game (and usually from a different company).
Ready 2 Rumble 2 also had Shaquille O'Neill and the final boss was Michael Buffer. Game was awesome.
I got introduced to MJ by playing Ready 2 Rumble, i was young, so i thought he was a legit boxer, and i thought he was the coolest boxer ever, literally my favorite character, now my favorite singer, we really need another Ready 2 Rumble, the new gen will never understand how fun goofy games used to be
David Tennant is the best I just love him
So I'm somewhat between the dictionary definition and this videos target audience, to me Cameo sang "word up" in 1986.i still remember it on the sky tv advert that featured Total Recall, never thought an oxbox video would make me think about the the never ending ebb of time.
6:24 "Don't count on him showing up in this year's christmas special"
hahahahahahahaha good joke, as if we got a christmas special, although we got a new year's special
Wait ... there are people that haven't seen THEY LIVE ... mind blown!
Yakuza 6 deserves a mention in this category for not only featuring world acclaimed director Beat Takeshi as a character, but also a whole bunch of wrestlers from the NJPW promotion, including the at the game's release World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.
There are 3 or 4 different Ariana Grande in final fantasy brave exvius. Also lara croft, Adam Jensen, Mario rodregas, 9s and 2b, and more I'm probably not thinking of.
Is there an in game explanation though why these characters appear?
@@Safersephiroth777 yes. It's actually the memories of powerful figures and events which transcends time and space and through the power of the crystals. you can
Experience them because you can summon these "visions" and use then to augment your own powers. Which surprisingly is not just handwavium but central to the games storyline.
So they're not "real" in the sense that they're people you meet in the game, but manifestations of people who exist somewhere.
@@marhawkman303 they...kind of are. they have thoughts, feeling, will of their own. you get into weird territory about what is real if you look too closely. very brain in a jar
Like spiritual echoes of the real thing (with the personality) maybe?
I've played through JC3 twice and never realised that was David Tennant. Mind blown
They Live. One of my favorite movies. "I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass... And I'm all out of bubblegum." ❤
I know this is a year old video but, there was also another "cameo" in Tekken 7.
The band BatAAr made a song for Lars, titled Vrede ("Wrath" in Swedish). Though they aren't really a famous band it's still something to check out.
I always thought "Cameo" was the group that recorded "Word Up" back in 1986.
At least it doesn’t count canonically
Keith David playing himself in a video game? We all know him as Captain/Councilor/Admiral Anderson from Mass Effect. Before playing Mass Effect 3, I read a comic in which Udina was Councilor. I was all like WTF. Then I started planning Mass Effect 3 and selected the codex pages. Oh. So having Anderson punching Udina in the face and getting your revenge for getting stabbed in the back was for nothing? Oh well. Some players seem to prefer Udina even after what he did, only tried that once to see what it was like
Don't forget about Al Gore from stick of truth
George Lucas as the toll troll is in one of the vids Andy mentions at the end
Shurikenger25 whats SP;TFBW?
Shurikenger25 nevermind i just figured it out im a dumbass thanks anyway though
When I saw Deadpool was on the list I just thought “of course there’s a cameo.”
All of the Ariana variants suck, don't be sad you missed them.
is FFRK even still possible to download? Also, the art sucks in comparison to BE, the combat sucks in comparison, and it didn't have the active support that BE does.
11:48 a side mention on the world of Lapis, is close to the french word "Lapin" which means...Rabbit 😁🐰
Brave Exvius makes perfect sense.
It's brave ex-Final Fantasy characters v us (assuming the game was developed by the monsters you're fighting).
The game has basicly ALOT of characters from other Ff games. And games that were doing collabs with the FFBE team. Like the lara croft event. And atm the deus ex machina mankind divided thing
lol the moment i saw the thumbnail i already guessed it should be FFBE lol
I knew it was too! I love FFBE!!
it's a great game, I'm playing it as I watch :D Also, the Deus Ex collab is just weird, don't know why they launched it now, years after the newest Deus Ex.
I still can’t believe that they do a Deus ex and a just cause collab before kingdom hearts collab
Ariana Grande in a Final Fantasy game - okay. THAT is the weirdest cameo I've ever heard of. That , and the game's justification for her existence.
Can we get a video about stupidly strong monsters in low level areas? I'm looking at you T-Rexaur in Final Fantasy VIII
lol, the random ass dragon in Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Crystal Lizard in Dark Souls 3.
That damn frost troll that appears when you are climbing to high hrothgar in Skyrim
The stone talks at the beginning of breath of the wild
*talus
Amazing, I love that you guys have a cameo of 'Humperdoo' from "Preacher" on this list about cameos...
What about Danica Patrick in Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed? Or, y’know, anyone from the following list:
- Team Fortress 2
- Yogscast
- Reck-It Ralph
- A random Football Manager
- A random Shogun
- A Dreamcast Controller
Sonic & All-Stars doesn’t descriminate.
Doesn't SEGA own the Football Manager games? And something with that Shogun?
"...and dressed as an SM bunny rabbit." LOL!
Those were the days. TNT introduced me to some awesome movies. They Live, Rumble in the Bronx, and Return of the Living Dead, to name a few.
Ok but can we please take a min to appreciate David Tennant? He's doing an amazing job as the propaganda Minister- almost as amazing as Mr. Westaway
It's not just Ariana Grande, there's also Lara Croft (the original Lara Croft) as well as characters from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided inside Brave Exvius
I might miss some others in the game.
there are many, many collabs in BE.
And both ffbe and tomb raider are both made by Square Enix. Putting in Ariana is just insane
Yeah, atleast the Deus Ex:Mankind Divided, Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3 and Neir banners are because the games are under SquareEnix's umbrella... The Ariana event made absolutely no sense.
David Tennant is the best thing in Just Cause 3 much like everything else he's in. I love how he mentions he really is David Tennant and kidnapped
I think that Negan would have been a cool Mortal Kombat character
FATLITY! Sub-Zero wins! Yes, very "cool" :p
a cameo is basically any role or part played by someone who would normally not play such a role, like a producer or director in an extra part or a big star in an extra part, or a celebrity in an extra part, basically an extra part
Why no mention Lewis Hamilton on Call Of Duty? I thought of that is the weirdest one yet
Thank you team for including Piper's music during his segment!
Can somebody summarize for me what happened in the video after Jane said - "Free2Play mobile videogame"?
I just don't know what happened, my chihuahua started howling, TV flickering and phone ringing.
Anybody? Guys?
long story short
it's a decent pocket-ff game that for some reason features around 4 versions of Ariana Grande as a playable unit
it's a great game actually, if you're any bit a fan of Final Fantasy.
I'm not sure either. The moment Jane said "free to play mobile game" my computer exploded, my guinea pigs went on a murderous rampage and my grandad rose from his grave.
Considering how in the comic and TV show Negan is without a doubt one of the deadliest combatants in TWD, you might want to reconsider that Andy. If for nothing else his insults are eviscerating.
I actually did the saints row 4 one last night and I was so confused
I no joke nodded off right before Andy said "wake up!" 😂😂
Imagine being a cameo in Mortal Kombat
The original person they wanted to play negan was Henry Rollins, a man who definitely can intimidate a grizzly. The tekken cameo convinces me further that they 1000% should have stuck with the original plan
That scene from "They Live" explains a lot in SR4. Fun fact: Keith David has appeared in every Saints Row game except Saints Row 3.
6:20 Wow, Jane, that was savage.
What if I told you... That Hideo Kojima... Cameos IN HIS OWN GAME?
But you see it coming every time now.
He's not the only developer to do that.
"fans of amc's the walking dead that still exist" i've never felt more called out in my life.
There is also three versions of Katy Perry in FFBE. Those being the following:
Popstar Katy
Immortal Flame Katy
Lovely Katy
I had to Google immortal flame Katy
It's not as awesome as it sounds
Dang. I've been playing Just Cause 3 in German, so I missed David Tennant.
Obsession with internal organ like "Hannibal Lector" or "Mortal Kombat"?
I believe the latter is more suitable.
LittleKuriboh in Tales of Zestiria! I was totally caught off guard by it.
