A bit of context on the last one. Pavel Morozov's name is a HUGE warning sign in itself actually. This is a name of a boy who (in the early days of Soviet) turned his own dad to the officials. ((To be fair - his dad was a criminal and the boy got killed by his dad's friends afterwards...)) So at first this was "advertised" as an example for good honest citizen behaviour. Later - when mass shotings and Gulags were considered a bad thing - perception of this character changed and he became an example of treachery and nothing being sacred... So in Metro this character is quite well done for his name.
IIRC the "crime" that his father commited was secretely (and illegally according to fucked up Soviet law) stashing food so that his family woldn't starve. Or that could've been someone else, there were several cases like that.
Krzysztof Bartczak Nope. His crime was stealing fabric and selling is for profit from beneath the shelf. His family had no problems with food or anithing. But nice try on pulling a well known strawman on USSR.
Павел Жданов well, the other story i've read was that his father was selling forged documents. It was a giant propaganda war between the East and West and i would not be surprised at all if there wasn't even ever a boy named Morozov (well, there probably are some people with that surname in Russia, but you get my point).
Krzysztof Bartczak true. USSR propaganda had a tendency to misrepresent some facts to make them look more heroic. For example the story of 28 Panfilov's men. Long story short: (according to propaganda) during the defence of Moscow in late 1941 a large gropu of german tanks were halted, stalled and eventually repelled by a group of 28 soldiers who didn't give any ground to enemy with no regard to losses. Sound pretty heroic, right. But some later investigations showed that the story was a bit different. For starters, Panfilov was in command of a whole regiment of about 2000 men. And while his regiment did stall germans for long enough for reserves to assemble, and mount a counterattac, the fighting had multiple tactical retreats. And the only connection to figure 28 that was made was a stoty of one detachment that did make a stan without retreating and held germans for about 6 hours taking 28 casualties (which is almost entire detachment personel). As you might guess Pavlik Morozovs story was put to such scrutiny as well... and it turned out pretty much true. But with some interesting additions. For example the fact that Pavlik was killed by his uncle within a week after his father was imprisoned, was not advertised by USSR...
In fairness to Patches, the sinister giggling isn't really all that sinister when you recall that EVERYONE in Dark Souls giggles like a maniac. Honestly it's the 2 or 3 characters who don't giggle who you really have to watch out for.
There's no country called Janetopia? Well this is embarrassing, I've just fallen for the same scam. Luckily I've still got those funds I sent over to an account in the Mike Channel Islands.
+JaiCSC what? you mean the groin-kicking man channel islands? that doesn't sound very safe either. good luck to you though. also, yes there is a Janetopia! i've been living there! i think. or it could've been some white stuff some shady guy in some alley gave me at 3 am.

I got my refund with: A super sledge, Double barrel shotgun, Chinese officer sword, a fat man, etc (i quicksaved just so i can get my satisfaction from killing him....... alot).
+antagonizerr should've invested in the pickpocketer perk, and stripped him clean of all his items, and sold them! 100 bottlecaps back + some more and that fool walking around in his undies!
I watched a play through and figured he was a bad one when he advocated draining the little girls. Figured out who by elimination by which many player was not on any tapes you find.
Yea, I became suspicious of Atlas the second he told me I should kill little sisters even after we knew we could save them. Though I didnt know he was manipulating me. Which begs the question, why didnt he just say, "Would you kindly kill that Little Sister"
I honestly don't think it's that obvious, Rapture really seems like a place where you'd have to discard any moral code you might've had to survive. Just look at the state most people are in, it's horrifying. The game largely relies on Atlas not being found out, or not entirely, until the big twist.
Except that he is preceded by Yuri from Red Alert 2, Seth from Command & Conquer, CABAL in Tiberium Sun & Operation Firestorm, Isador Akios in Dawn of War, basically everybody in Dawn of War Winter Assault at mission 4, Dr. Malcom Betruger in Doom 3, Duran and Kerrigan in Brood War (Kerrigan does 2 backstabs in _one_ level!)
I'd love to see a "should have been fired" kind of video. Not like game characters who turned out to be evil, but rather ones who were so bad at their job they should have bee fired. Be it game protagonists or otherwise. Think it could be a funny video. :D Have they done this?
What about hulas from knights of the old republic? He his part of a side quest is which, he offers you entrance to genoharadan, a secret assassin's guild, if you kill a few certain people, who turn out to be the other overseers of genoharadan. After you find out, you can challenge him to a one one duel on tatooine, but he turns up with an army. But, you kill him, and the quest ends. This something like assassin's creed, but it was made wwwaaayyyyyy before assassin's creed.
+outsidexbox You guys should now do a list of characters that you all "knew" would stab you in the back but in the end turned out to be good guys. Then again that one is a little more difficult since video game designers love stabbing you in the back, front, sides and even in the case of some games stabbing you in the spleen from inside your own body using a knife that wasnt there a minute ago.
+outsidexbox Have you considered doing "X villains who we never thought we could trust?" Basically, the reverse of this- villains who ended up helping us?
to this day im still sad about ghost and still mad about shepard. but ghost survived cuz if you look at the angle,he was shot in the shoulder+ the soldier who put oil on you didnt pour any on ghost
+Don Korb Astrid broke my game lol, when I went inside of the Night Mother's coffin the game froze and wouldn't unfreeze for 5-15 minutes. After that, I had no love for her whatsoever, regretful or not
Kicks you into a hole in Demon's Souls. Kicks you into a pit in Dark Souls. Sets a firebomb trap for you in Dark Souls 2. Tries to sacrifice you to his god (and kicks you into a pit) in Bloodborne. I am really looking forward to seeing how I'll get betrayed by Patches in Dark Souls 3.
+Andrew Cleary now ho it went for me killed him the moment i met him in darks souls impaled him on a spear the moment i met him in dark souls 2 used him as a meat shield in bloodborne
You forgot how he had a lava bug dropped on you in Demon's souls. It doesn't matter how good my weapons, armour and spells where those things are an absolute BITCH to fight
Van Grants of Tales of the Abyss. I was screaming at my screen when my character kept falling for his kind, supportive sounding words...just daggers in my heart when he betrays us
no after the fight you can choose to forgive him and put his gasmask on (with presumably enough filters to not die when he wakes) also you want that good ending
IT is sad because the little dark one even states that he is sad, not angry, not violent, but just broken. All that tough guy talk and him fighting is just his training, deep down he really did not want to betray you. I also spared him and managed to get the good ending where only the red line soldiers were ultimately slaughtered by the dark ones. I loved watching the absolutely surprised look on the Spymaster/General One-Eye Dick Bag.
When i play Life is Strange, i don't actually expect Mr. Jefferson to be the one. I totally bought the story that Nathan and the Prescott is actually the one behind it. I guess that's a testament to a good writing.
I mean... if you listen to him long enough before taking the selfie, he literally says "I can frame any of you in a dark corner and capture you in a moment of desperation. and you could do the same to me."
Loghain Mac Tir - Dragon Age: Origins - He is such a trustworthy guy... Rendon Howe - Dragon Age: Origins (human noble origin) Solas (Fen'harel) - Dragon Age Inquisition
They didn't even talk about why it should have been obvious Mr. Jefferson from Life is Strange was gonna be evil. He even rubs it in your face that at the beginning of the game, part of his lecture was "I could frame any of you in a dark room, capture you in a moment of desperation". Which is exactly what he did! It was genius on the writers' part because at that point in the game, most gamers are too busy trying to get their bearings on the controls to notice the blaringly obvious hint that he's evil. But, when it comes back around, you realize how obvious the betrayal should've been if you'd been paying attention.
+Sean McNamara IKR Halo took a turn now it's like "pay $1000 for all cosmetics great price amiright?! let's go with that not like we fucked up everything no..."
First he poisons you, kills everybody who helped him (why? because why not), and kidnaps the heir to the throne. Then he poisons his only two friends that he didn't kill (again, because why not). Then, as if that weren't enough, he says you can go unlock Emily's cell, and as soon as you pick up the key, he tries to kill you. Again.
Joe Dorio Jr You only get that when you are low chaos but even with that, I knock him out before I go to Emily. In high chaos he tries to throw Emily from the top of the lighthouse haha
technically you betray him. after all you do promise to activate the installation then decide "oh no I can't do that if it's going to kill EVERYONE EVER" like come on master chief don't be a little bitch.
+Juha Reinikainen Yeah, no. We betray him in the opening cinematic to the mission, "Two Betrayals". After that, and before that, really, he makes no attempt to hide what he wants to do. Activate the rings, starve the Flood.
To be fair on the "guys whose intro was 'will totally kill you'" category, Shadow from Final Fantasy 3/6 was introduced with "would cut your throat for a nickel". Guess we should be glad the Empire never paid him, and we did. :D
The problem was there was no set time for getting him back. My older sister and I both waited until the last possible second for him to rejoin us but he didn't, but others say that he showed up after waiting only a few seconds.
Riku Sawada it reminds me of his flash backs, it's actually very easy to miss his cutscenes if you don't sleep at the inn where the little painter girl is at
Isabela's starting daggers are literally named 'Backstabber' and 'Heartbreaker'. I'm beginning to think she might not be totally committed to Hawke's friendship...
I literally did the Thieves Guild quest line YESTERDAY! If only I'd known of Mercy Frey's betrayal earlier. Then again...I wouldn't have been able to do anything.
In relation to Trusty Patches from Dark Souls there is also the guy named Mild-mannered Pate from Dark Souls 2 which really sound convincing until you realize that he is constantly leading you through dangerous trap-filled areas in a promise of a sound loot on the other end.
I remember when me and my friends were playing life is strange and I was being a smartass yelled out "it was the teacher" at the exact moment where the game revealed that is was , in fact the teacher. We tell on the floor laughing.
I went full die hard into Dragon Age 2, to see if it was possible to keep Isabela as your companion after she runs away with the tome... Befriend her to a high degree, run a romance with her... and poof, she will return! For you to decide if you'll hand her over... or not xD
That one character in almost every 'Tales of' series game. It's almost become a game trying to figure out which of your party members is gonna sell you out.
I know I'm a tad bit late on the draw here- but I would like to mention Malus, the young lad you meet in Castlevania 64. He starts out innocently claiming he's been kidnapped, then later on goes all cryptic and threaty on you, and then at the end turns out to be the ol' Drac man himself! ...and then a lazor spitting dragon, for some reason.
I saw the title and thought someone was talking about me for a split second. I was like "Wait, what? What did I do?". Then... oh... Anyway, great video.
Something I've learned about the dark souls games (and bloodborne) is that almost every person that doesn't try to kill you immediately (also known as a friend) will definitely betray you.
Aidan sucks at games The moment I discovered he was the killer and you go back in time again right to the beginning of Episode 1, literally everything he said made so much sense to him being the killer and I was annoyed I didn't realise that straight away
+TheMadisonMachine How dare you say those names here... hahaha nah Frey was a cnt but Astrid was a let down plain and simple never thought she'd betray us all.
Tyler To be fair YOU betrayed 343 by primising him a new home for his help and then you turn your back on him (you blew up his house then tried to do it again, of course he's gonna get mad)
+Exodia I liked him even more- he is so honest as soldier- he even betrays you because you are enemy, yet he is sad he has to do it. He is loyal to his side. I didnt let him die, he didnt deserve to die like that (in game horror scene - it creeps me out even now.). Yet if i find him in next game he is SOO DEAD
+Tom Williams Productions Indeed you go through the whole game thinking what you are doing is the right thing but it turns out you're just pawns in Yevon's game of death and misery.
Anyone find it weird: Saren wanted to us to combine with the Reapers. Illusive man wanted to control the Reapers. Everyone else wants you to kill the Reapers. Sounds familiar.
Never really trusted Mercer. That's why I pickpocketed his Dwarven Sword of Steal All Your Health and replaced it with a simple Iron Dagger of No Special Enchantments Ever.
I had a bad feeling about Havelock. But I actually didn't think Pendleton would betray me (Corvo). Especially when I spared his brothers, whom I wanted to kill so badly because they kept Emily in a fucking brothel.
Zegram from Rogue Galaxy. Totally didn't see it coming with the cutscenes of him calling Daytron and totally leaving you abandoned in the jungle when you're about to fight the freaking Star God on Jurika. Seems like he'll come around...
What I'm loving here is I'm reading all these comments going "what about this betrayal from this game? Did you not think of this game" etc when as the thumbnail says "Commenter Edition" meaning that they choose what fans have said, they've not chosen the games themselves...
No joke the first time I got to Shepards betrayal and the music kicks in I got extremely angry and sad then the gasoline hit roach and my eyes watered because he's still alive he'll feel it then Shepard got close with his cigar and I realized no deus savior thing was going I happen the flames started as I took a last look at ghost and vowed if this game let me I will end it all.
Showing up 3 years late, but what about Syphon Filter 2? Take your pick of characters, but Chance in particular has haunted me to this day - not necessarily his betrayal, but his death.
Fun Fact: Skyrim was originally going to be a Game of Thrones Video Game before the TV series even came out, Mercer Frey's last name is actually a reference to Walder Frey.
www.tor.com/2011/09/16/how-skyrim-was-almost-set-in-westeros/ As well as the magazine mentioned in the post, though I don't have the copy of it anymore. Though there are a lot of references to "A Song of Fire and Ice" throughout the game.
Exe Lior The idea is that if they hadn't been offered it or even slightly inspired by GoT the game would be vastly different, for better or worse. All I meant is that it took a lot of inspiration from GoT and simply playing the games shows that. There are various references in the dialogue and even some of the names. I mean both take place in a world where magic and swordsmanship takes place, with the return of dragons, and a small group of people who can talk to them with a single person in that group who can control them. And a song of fire and ice started quite a while before Skyrim.
Ditto, Master of Disguise because never before in fantasy where dragons a thing until GoT came along. Skyrim is, yes, similar to other fantasy worlds... Cause it's a fantasy game set in a fantasy world with fantasy shit like dragons and magic. Besides that a song of fire and ice came out before skyrim sure, but other games in the elder scrolls series came out before GoT. Fantasy does not revolve around GoT, not every fantasy game is based off of GoT because it shares similarities, Skyrim is set in its own universe that was established 6 years before GoT, so no, it obviously wasn't going to be a GoT game because it resembles the map of Skyrim from TeS Arena, and looks nothing like a GoT map that was converted into Skyrim. Now references sure, but everything else is its own thing, and that's very obvious if you actually bothered researching the game series before talking about theories that don't make any sense if you actually think about it.
qapaqcı qenC he doesn’t betray you if you work with him and don’t threaten him with the explosive collars that Father Elijah puts on the both of you, he won’t betray you if he doesn’t call you “ the old ball and chain “ when you talk to him after your initial conversation with him
8:05 THANK YOU! Thank you SOOOOOO MUCH for pronouncing "Oregon" the correct way! As someone from that state, I get tired of people pronouncing it "Or-e-gone". Even my girlfriend does that. XD
He kills you in the good ending too 😂 but betrayal happens in alot of atlus games from SMT to persona even Catherine has one as well if you count the entire plot xD
What about Tela Vasir from Mass Effect 2's Shadow Broker DLC? I bet I can totally trust her. Otherwise giving her all of my personal information was a mistake.
I'm saying this now. I never trusted Mercer Frey from the beginning and it made my day when you get to kill him. On the bright side you also get sweet armor and weapons!
Well, I kind of expected it. When he helps your group fight Sinspawn Gui, I thought "Damn, this guy is strong and awesome! Oh shit, I'm going to have to fight him later sometime. It's so freaking obvious."
Commander Milton in Fable 3 dlc Traitor's Keep. He assists you in tracking down two dangerous escaped inmates, a roboticist and an alchemist, talking abut how they could have done good for the world, then proceeds to trap you, create a potion that turns him into your doppelganger, and shoots a fireball at your dog.
I don't think the illusive man actually betrayed you unless you count when he sent you to get ambushed on the collector ship. After Mass Effect 2 you just went your separate ways. His ways just happened to include the creation of husks, the attack on Mars, and the attack on the Citadel to mention a few. You weren't friends at the time, so it wasn't really a betrayal.
+Nicholas Kennedy And if you play paragon Shepard, you are a massive arse to him as well, through the whole of ME2. He brought you back to life, spent billions building you a new ship, and really was doing all the stuff the Alliance should have been doing but weren't for political reasons, and Shepard is really bitchy to him in thanks. I actually really liked him, in ME2 he was the definition of an anti-hero, having good intentions but bad methods. It's in ME3 when he goes from ensuring survival to ensuring supremacy that he becomes a bad guy. Still kinda liked him though. He was a charismatic son of a bitch. I really wished there was a way to get him back on-side, and team up with him against the Reapers. I wrote a fanfic where he was able to overcome the indoctrination for short periods of time, and used those times to clandestinely help Shepard before, when they meet on the Citadel, revealing he had those fields that blocked the indoctrination signal installed on all his ships, activates them, then orders his now not indoctrinated fleet to attack the Reapers with the Alliance, and they win without using the stupid Catalyst thing. I just wish that there was some way to get him back on your team in-game. Like, if you chose all the paragon options in dialogue with him in 2 and 3, you would be able to convince him he couldn't control the Reapers' power and he'd fight with you.
+James Bennett I liked Illusive Man until he didn't want the Collector Base blown up. I don't think a Paragon Shepard disagreeing with him matter much because if you were a nice guy in the first game, he should know what you're like.
I don't think whether you blow up the collector base should be based on whether your paragon or renegade. The illusive man makes a good point about using the collector base. It is their best hope for beating the reapers. As a paragon character it's the choice I'm going to make. Destroying it doesn't really do anything. For that matter I dislike a lot of the paragon options. Like on Jack's mission you could either ask to negotiate, tell him the warden to go to hell, or call him out as a lying criminal. The paragon option is the worst of those.
Nicholas Kennedy I don't think you can fully trust the Illusive Man's intentions, even if you like him. Especially after the weird stuff you find in Cerberus labs in the first game.
Jack always tried to be the good guy and do what's best for mankind and his "distrust" for other species is justified (First Contact War, remember?). There is even some evidence pointing towards that he was somewhat aware that he was slowly losing control of his thoughts. And that's one of the reasons he did everything he could to resurrect Shepard. A loophole. A wildcard.
wait you think patches laughing after every line is a dead giveaway for him beeing evil? have you played any soulsborne game? they ALL laught madly ALL the time. with that logic solair aka Mr. jolly cooperation would be a traitor...
Love these vids! I was reading the captions In the captions his name is "trusty bad cheese" lol which sounds about right I'm definitely calling him that from now on
so here's what happened today: 1. I woke up 2. Went outside 3. Met a really hot girl 4. Kissed the really hot girl But it happend in the order of 2,3,4,1
+BurningFir3Iz3 I'm not sure you get what I'm trying to say. I know they are listing the games they are going to spoil, but in doing so they kinda spoil what entries will be on the list.
Nihad I know! That's not what I'm saying! Go back and read my comment carefully. If you still don't get it ask one of your elementary school teachers to help you out.
one thing to think about with the illusive man is that his theme has a ringing sound and that one of the main symptoms of reaper indoctrination is hearing a ringing noise (or something like that)
The best part of Captain Scarlet was the end, when she drops her weapon in her haste to escape your revenge, she has the gall to accuse you of stealing when you pick it up. Borderlands DLC has some of the best parts of the game.
I didn't notice Mr. Jefferson at first but literally in the very first episode you can hear him in class saying "I could kidnap any one of you and capture those pure emotions" or some shit like that and, yea....
A bit of context on the last one.

Outsiexbox is they only channel I know that says "let us know what you think" and actually cares what you think.
We do care! Not least because we have a smart, super knowledgeable community who's as into obscure videogame trivia as we are! :D
Sorry for complementing them........sheesh.

HOW DARE YOU!

+outsidexbox That's what we come here for.

also, yes there is a Janetopia! i've been living there!
i think.
or it could've been some white stuff some shady guy in some alley gave me at 3 am.
+Mighty Wolf No actually the Isle of Groin Kicking Man is one of the Mike Channel Islands.
Astfgl
still, sounds kinda dodgy to me.
ah, it's probably fine.
god when you mentioned Mr. Jefferson in Life is Strange I found myself muttering. "God I hate that sadistic f**k." it just proves how great the game was at making me despise that villain.
Same I hate him with every fiber of my being
I really hate him too, though I hated him from the beginning, and was super annoyed by Max's crush on him.
F***king same
Same. One of the worst bits was how genuinely I didn’t see it coming. That betrayal hurt extra bad cause of that.
No Big Smoke from GTA: San Andreas? Come on. He took part in killing CJ's mom, and was able to jerk him around on missions all while keeping that secret and pretending to be his friend. That is beyond fucked up.
I'll have two number nines
(...) a number nine large
The Chicago gamer here ya go 🍔🌭🍝🍹
Nico P Extra DIP
AND he had a number 6 with extra dip!!
A source of 'individual pleasure' I...don't think her super villain origin story is safe for kids.
When Parker Quinn tried to sell me a 'charge card' in Fallout 4, I totally fell for it, expecting some new quest to come out of it. In the end, he just called me names and made fun of me. I did get my refund tho...combat shotgun style. I may be a sucker, but I'm a vindictive sucker.
I was getting chased my a super mutant suicider when I met him and now he is spread across the map.
I straight up told him to fuck himself. He ran away, never to be seen again
+Geralt of fucking Rivia But that's no fun :)
I just realised Mercer Frey is voiced by the same guy that did Nick Valentine... Pretty cool
+Jake Darling So... does that mean we shouldn't trust Nick Valentine?
+stride99 We still trust Nick #NickForLife
stride99 I trust Nick. Nick is my bestest friend in the whole wide world
Also it feels like he did another voice of a civilian in Skyrim. Did he do the voice for Samuel from dishonored?
+l33t agent he did Belethor of Belethor's General Goods in Whiterun. "Some may call this junk, me? I call them treaasuuuures"
I didn't know patches was a merchant. Damn my constant murdering of everyone I meet in games.
Dude your name and picture fit all to perfect with what you just said and you murdery ways
+Fariko Wishless its funny lol
I almost did that to him in DSIII. But he was useful to me in saving Siegward and in turn making Yhorm easier.
Again. You forgot Atlas from Bioshock! He's the father of all traitors!

Bioshock Infinite DLC*
I'd love to see a "should have been fired" kind of video. Not like game characters who turned out to be evil, but rather ones who were so bad at their job they should have bee fired. Be it game protagonists or otherwise. Think it could be a funny video. :D Have they done this?
We did one called Idiots Who Had One Job, Idiot which is a similar idea! ua-cam.com/video/Tw3sD5MEB5M/v-deo.html
+outsidexbox top 10 times we wanted to escape but we couldnt in video games
+outsidexbox plz do this,

+outsidexbox You forgot Big Smoke!.
what about astrid in Skyrim's dark brotherhood.
that's what I thought the Skyrim one would be, but i completely forgot about Mercer
Astrid doesn't count, she got roasted off screen and kind of sort of regretted betraying you.
+Don Korb , i felt bad for her, she killed all her friends
+Don Korb Astrid broke my game lol, when I went inside of the Night Mother's coffin the game froze and wouldn't unfreeze for 5-15 minutes. After that, I had no love for her whatsoever, regretful or not
she had a really good reason on doing so
How about Havelock from Dishonored? Bastard is suspicious as hell when he gives you that "celebratory toast."
I was just about to comment the same thing! I remember things just seeming a bit off during that scene.
I remember thinking, "This game is pretty short. Didn't expect it to be this easy - Oop, shit, I'm dying now."
+willofbob Agreed, but if you use the heart to "listen" he is shady af before that! Still, wth Admiral Havelock?
Oh, how I couldnt agree more!
I thought Pendelton was shady so I stabbed him when he told me to kill Lord Show. turns out he was actually the bad guy. I knew it!
+Andrew Cleary now ho it went for me
killed him the moment i met him in darks souls
impaled him on a spear the moment i met him in dark souls 2
used him as a meat shield in bloodborne
You forgot how he had a lava bug dropped on you in Demon's souls. It doesn't matter how good my weapons, armour and spells where those things are an absolute BITCH to fight
You'll see soon because DS3 release is only 3 days away! Can't wait!
Fegelein master of antics
I know! So hype. I ordered the collector's edition because I'm obsessed.
+Andrew Cleary me too. I'm literally making a countdown. just me and my friends hanging out and trolling ds1 & 2 noobs while waiting.
Mr Jefferson was pretty obvious. Never trust a hipster.
What about Reaver from Fable 2? He tries to trade your youth for his continued Imortality than talks to you right after like it was no big deal.
Nick Beaulieu no maze from fable
Van Grants of Tales of the Abyss. I was screaming at my screen when my character kept falling for his kind, supportive sounding words...just daggers in my heart when he betrays us
Still pavel's fight is so sad cause it is revealed that he didn't even want to betray you
He was never on your side and was too scared to betray the red army
imbadatit If I'm not mistaken he's dead regardless of what he does
no after the fight you can choose to forgive him and put his gasmask on (with presumably enough filters to not die when he wakes) also you want that good ending
I don't think he had much choice either,it was either that or being forever hunted by the Red Line
When i play Life is Strange, i don't actually expect Mr. Jefferson to be the one. I totally bought the story that Nathan and the Prescott is actually the one behind it. I guess that's a testament to a good writing.
David Christian AHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAH HAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHHAA HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Good writing? We ARE talking about Life is Strange, right?
You mean good in terms of plot right? Because the dialogue is wonderfully and adorably corny and bad and I love it so much.
I mean... if you listen to him long enough before taking the selfie, he literally says "I can frame any of you in a dark corner and capture you in a moment of desperation. and you could do the same to me."
So did I. Nathaniel still gets caught.
Loghain Mac Tir - Dragon Age: Origins - He is such a trustworthy guy...
Rendon Howe - Dragon Age: Origins (human noble origin)
Solas (Fen'harel) - Dragon Age Inquisition
Oh, man! Loghain would be a great candidate for "villains who had a point" videos too! Also, the Arishok from DA2.
True I totally understand Loghain he was totally paranoid but He had his reasons.
Fucking Solas!!
J. Ackermann SOLAS BETRAYS YOU!! COME ON I JUST STARTED THE GAME LOL!!
Outside of trusting the Orelisians, Loghoian was just committing atrocities just to commit them.
David Vonderhaar with his cosmetic only supply drops. Sure...
+Max Power Lol.
You should see halo though cosmetics for $10 a piece
+CobrusGaming Y u mad because I'm talking about halo learn to fucking read before you speak
CobrusGaming Yeah. You can. VERY SLOWLY, and theres not a good chance of getting new weapons, so stop raging.
+Sean McNamara IKR Halo took a turn now it's like "pay $1000 for all cosmetics great price amiright?! let's go with that not like we fucked up everything no..."
No Admiral Havelock from Dishonored? Wow... Haha
That fuckboy
Pepsia Gaming I know I was pretty gutted in his betrayal too
First he poisons you, kills everybody who helped him (why? because why not), and kidnaps the heir to the throne. Then he poisons his only two friends that he didn't kill (again, because why not). Then, as if that weren't enough, he says you can go unlock Emily's cell, and as soon as you pick up the key, he tries to kill you. Again.
HEY ! ı was going to say that
Joe Dorio Jr You only get that when you are low chaos but even with that, I knock him out before I go to Emily. In high chaos he tries to throw Emily from the top of the lighthouse haha
Solas from Dragon Age Inquisition
We dont speak about that bad egg
Eh i wouldn’t say Solas was THAT obvious, at least not on the Illusive man’s level :P
who in the fucking depths of hell trusted patches in any games after demon souls
Probably people who hadn't played Demons Souls yet :p
Wait patches isn't to be trusted... Maybe I should back away from this ledge then befo- OH SHIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttt............
Patchs is the most trustworthy character
That laser ball thing from Halo 3
343 guilty spark
technically you betray him. after all you do promise to activate the installation then decide "oh no I can't do that if it's going to kill EVERYONE EVER" like come on master chief don't be a little bitch.
+Juha Reinikainen Guilty spark?
Laser ball thing? Wtf!!
+Juha Reinikainen Yeah, no. We betray him in the opening cinematic to the mission, "Two Betrayals". After that, and before that, really, he makes no attempt to hide what he wants to do. Activate the rings, starve the Flood.
What about Jowan from the Magi opening of Dragon Age: Origins? That SOB messed up everything
If you ever do another one of these, consider Atlas from Bioshock, would you kindly?
To be fair on the "guys whose intro was 'will totally kill you'" category, Shadow from Final Fantasy 3/6 was introduced with "would cut your throat for a nickel". Guess we should be glad the Empire never paid him, and we did. :D
And then he died ! At least his dog lived
You could actually save him if you waited long enough before jumping.
Riku Sawada YOU CAN!? Aaaaahhhh my childhood was full of murder every time I replay that game!
“Wait are saucy purate traitors a thing?”
Clearly someone isn’t that into pirates
Great now do people you actually didn't think would betray you
+Elias Von porat Pavel?
Citra
+Elias Von porat Iron Bull?
+Berend Brokkenpap (Jochem) Then again, he did warn you at the beginning, but still.
+Elias Von porat Aka Solas from Dragon Age: Inquisition
I literally did the Thieves Guild quest line YESTERDAY!
If only I'd known of Mercy Frey's betrayal earlier.
Then again...I wouldn't have been able to do anything.
the psychiatrist from alice madness returns
YES
hasn't he already been mentioned
that's exactly what I thought
+Ninad Gaikwad what about the walrus and the carpenter
You see it coming, but you don't know _precisely_ what he did until the level or so.
Life Is Strange is just "NOBODY KILLS CHLOE BUT ME"
In relation to Trusty Patches from Dark Souls there is also the guy named Mild-mannered Pate from Dark Souls 2 which really sound convincing until you realize that he is constantly leading you through dangerous trap-filled areas in a promise of a sound loot on the other end.
The Illusive Man was my favorite npc from Mass Effect 2 and 3
Mine was garrus
+Potato King the only thing that persists more than garrus are those aim calibrations
Ah Pavel, you broke my cold dead heart.
Still cant belive he sold artyom out :(
I know I'm a tad bit late on the draw here- but I would like to mention Malus, the young lad you meet in Castlevania 64.
He starts out innocently claiming he's been kidnapped, then later on goes all cryptic and threaty on you, and then at the end turns out to be the ol' Drac man himself!
...and then a lazor spitting dragon, for some reason.
patches the guy you want to be a medic to patch you up yet he's the one who gives you the cuts.
Damn that's deep
+Roger Angeles /r/im14andthisisdeep
I think you are confusing the word very very minor coincidence with deep... omfg humans.
+Ryan Joseph (HopeYouHaveAGreatDay) Maybe they're deep cuts?
+Brandon Grant oh you think you funny
You guys do realize that EVERY npc in Dark Souls tends to laugh ominously after every single bit of dialogue?
I called that Mr. Jefferson was evil 0.6 sec after he opened his mouth.
He just has that look about him...
the _"creepy ass hipster looking photographer"_ type of evil
He was too hot for his own good.
+Max Caulfield Max!?
i just felt it the very second i saw him
I saw the title and thought someone was talking about me for a split second. I was like "Wait, what? What did I do?".
Then... oh...
Anyway, great video.
Something I've learned about the dark souls games (and bloodborne) is that almost every person that doesn't try to kill you immediately (also known as a friend) will definitely betray you.
What about Adria from Diablo 3? She sacrificed her own daughter to bring back the main villain Diablo!!!
Master Li from Jade Empire was my first betrayal. If only someone would have hinted at a some sort of weak spot.
i trusted Jefferson i don't know why he just never got me worried i thought if anyone was going to betray us it was david
Aidan sucks at games The moment I discovered he was the killer and you go back in time again right to the beginning of Episode 1, literally everything he said made so much sense to him being the killer and I was annoyed I didn't realise that straight away
"How does that make your wallet rumble" is an iconic line and no one can convince me differently
*steam laughing in the distance*
I loved Scarlet XD she was so up front about it that the betrayal was just hilarious
Mercer Frey? How about Astrid?
Mercer Frey and Astrid are two of the most foul creatures I've ever encountered.
Astrid would have to be on the "Actually didnt think they would betray you list"
+Nick Anderson Dont quote me, its been a long time, but I'm pretty sure she sold you out in order to keep her safe
+Trilly Skywalker To keep the whole Brotherhood safe, yes. It sucks even more because it didn't even work.
She let her husband get murdered. I LOVED HIM!!!
+TheMadisonMachine How dare you say those names here... hahaha nah Frey was a cnt but Astrid was a let down plain and simple never thought she'd betray us all.
what about 343 guilty spark?
That betrayal cut deep man. I really liked Guilty Spark
+Eric Allen he was made by the forunners there was flood everywhere and we were on a ring all the stars aligned for him to be a piece of shart
Kristian Andrews i meant halo 3 spark, yeah in one he was a douche and well deserved but in 3 you thought he changed until he killed johnson
Then you detonate that bro-killing light bulb with the laser pointer of death!
Tyler To be fair YOU betrayed 343 by primising him a new home for his help and then you turn your back on him (you blew up his house then tried to do it again, of course he's gonna get mad)
Was expecting Pavel. Was not disappointed.
+Exodia He is inspired by real person Pavel Morozov, who betrayed his father to commies during 1917 civil war. The more you know
Алексей Башкиров I did not know that, that's interesting!
I still liked him after he betrayed me.
+Palanides next game?
the whole church of Yevon in final fantasy X
I don't know brudduh. Them Al Bheds still look pretty shady to me.
+Reggie Torian
Are you a follower of Grand Wizard Wakka?
+Tom Williams Productions Indeed you go through the whole game thinking what you are doing is the right thing but it turns out you're just pawns in Yevon's game of death and misery.
yes!!!
That mix of "aw" and "oh" from Jane in the paRT about Jefferson was so adorable XD
What about Havelock, Pendleton, and Martin from Dishonored??? I thought that drink was suspicious...
The first Metal Gear Big Boss, like a decade before the "original betrayal" in video games.
Anyone find it weird:
Saren wanted to us to combine with the Reapers.
Illusive man wanted to control the Reapers.
Everyone else wants you to kill the Reapers.
Sounds familiar.
After seeing the spoiler warnings, I know Skyrim has to be Mercer Frey.
Yup
I expected Astrid. Bitch got basically her whole guild killed -- and her husband!
Never really trusted Mercer. That's why I pickpocketed his Dwarven Sword of Steal All Your Health and replaced it with a simple Iron Dagger of No Special Enchantments Ever.
I stole his two weapons when I first met him:) In the tomb he was trying to punch me... haha
i'd say it's Esbern and Dalphine.
Those cunts wanted me to kill Parrthurnax! >:(
Admiral Havelock and Lord Pendleton anyone?
I had a bad feeling about Havelock. But I actually didn't think Pendleton would betray me (Corvo). Especially when I spared his brothers, whom I wanted to kill so badly because they kept Emily in a fucking brothel.
Zegram from Rogue Galaxy. Totally didn't see it coming with the cutscenes of him calling Daytron and totally leaving you abandoned in the jungle when you're about to fight the freaking Star God on Jurika. Seems like he'll come around...
Life is strange is a very sad emotional game but it's good I own it and Mr Jefferson is a twisted sick bastard
Lance fucking Vance
Time for the lance chance dance
+William Tattersall I told you Tommy I had enough of that at school!
he wasnt shady we trusted him and he betrayed us
yeah fuck that guy
What I'm loving here is I'm reading all these comments going "what about this betrayal from this game? Did you not think of this game" etc when as the thumbnail says "Commenter Edition" meaning that they choose what fans have said, they've not chosen the games themselves...
what About Atlas from bioshock? it did feel kinda shady when you never meet him and he keeps asking stuff of you
No joke the first time I got to Shepards betrayal and the music kicks in I got extremely angry and sad then the gasoline hit roach and my eyes watered because he's still alive he'll feel it then Shepard got close with his cigar and I realized no deus savior thing was going I happen the flames started as I took a last look at ghost and vowed if this game let me I will end it all.
Bit extreme, but I was also a bit... Upset about them dying
I was very upset. I miss the days of good COD campaigns. If they remastering all three MW campaigns, I'd pay 60 bucks for it
Showing up 3 years late, but what about Syphon Filter 2? Take your pick of characters, but Chance in particular has haunted me to this day - not necessarily his betrayal, but his death.
Fun Fact: Skyrim was originally going to be a Game of Thrones Video Game before the TV series even came out, Mercer Frey's last name is actually a reference to Walder Frey.
www.tor.com/2011/09/16/how-skyrim-was-almost-set-in-westeros/
As well as the magazine mentioned in the post, though I don't have the copy of it anymore.
Though there are a lot of references to "A Song of Fire and Ice" throughout the game.
Ditto, Master of Disguise .... except it's part of a completely different long running series that came out right when it was due to?
Ditto, Master of Disguise no bethesda was asked to make a GOT game but didnt want to duh
Where is Dean Domino from Fallout New Vegas : Dead Money???
qapaqcı qenC he doesn’t betray you if you work with him and don’t threaten him with the explosive collars that Father Elijah puts on the both of you, he won’t betray you if he doesn’t call you “ the old ball and chain “ when you talk to him after your initial conversation with him
8:05 THANK YOU! Thank you SOOOOOO MUCH for pronouncing "Oregon" the correct way! As someone from that state, I get tired of people pronouncing it "Or-e-gone". Even my girlfriend does that. XD
What about Akechi from Persona 5? I kinda already knew that, *ahem* he KILLED you in 2 endings
Super late, just got into the channel but Onef from The Banner Saga deserves a mention.
I'm saying this now. I never trusted Mercer Frey from the beginning and it made my day when you get to kill him. On the bright side you also get sweet armor and weapons!
What about Seymour, I totally was shocked when he betrayed me... the Anima thing wasn't a dead give away.
I was reading the captions In the captions his name is "trusty bad cheese" lol which sounds about right I'm definitely calling him that from now on
so here's what happened today:
1. I woke up
2. Went outside
3. Met a really hot girl
4. Kissed the really hot girl
But it happend in the order of 2,3,4,1
+fartshyt what?
+Darius Darius sorry I disappointed you:(
Nice copy and paste.
XD
+Speedojesus Why?
Telling us what games you are going to spoil kinda spoils the list, don't you think?
00:26
+BurningFir3Iz3 I'm not sure you get what I'm trying to say. I know they are listing the games they are going to spoil, but in doing so they kinda spoil what entries will be on the list.
***** I mean the people mentioned on the list, you know.
Nihad I know! That's not what I'm saying! Go back and read my comment carefully. If you still don't get it ask one of your elementary school teachers to help you out.
+BurningFir3Iz3 Are you just trolling right now? Coz I don't really appreciate it!
one thing to think about with the illusive man is that his theme has a ringing sound
and that one of the main symptoms of reaper indoctrination is hearing a ringing noise (or something like that)
Where's the dev of No Mans Sky
They are a real person. Not a character. XD
Nathan Williamson the joke flew right over your head didn’t it?
How did I not see this coming?
Albert Wesker in resident evil? Guy wearing shades in a dark environment? Not at all mysterious!
Danish Shaikh Damn you Wesker
The best part of Captain Scarlet was the end, when she drops her weapon in her haste to escape your revenge, she has the gall to accuse you of stealing when you pick it up. Borderlands DLC has some of the best parts of the game.
Michelle from gta4? She's an undercover FIB agent
But isabella returns if you were good with her ;c
What about Amelyssan from Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal? Most people guessed the "big reveal" after her first few lines of dialog.
Wow. I'm watching this so many years after MW2 and Ghost dying still pisses me off
no Atlas from Bioshock? wow
".....why is he a Teacher?" one of my teachers is a filmmaker with award winning documentaries on the third world.
really makes you think, huh?
yeah
What about atlas he said we were there to fight Andrew Ryan and then he just tries to kill me
I hate to be that guy (no I don't) but Flowey the Flower.
flowey wasnt really a traitor, he wasnt on your side from the beginning
I didn't notice Mr. Jefferson at first but literally in the very first episode you can hear him in class saying "I could kidnap any one of you and capture those pure emotions" or some shit like that and, yea....
I'm just waiting to be betrayed by Preston Garvey in fallout 4
alex mtcastle another settlement needs your help, here I'll mark it on your map for you
