  • Are new cars really better, or are we just falling for clever marketing? In this video, I take my Porsche 964 for a drive through the stunning roads of the South of France to break down why modern cars have lost their soul. From overcomplicated tech to soulless driving experiences, I'll explain why older cars might just be the smarter (and more fun) choice.
I will answer the following questions:
🔹 Are EVs really the future? 🚘💨
🔹 Why modern cars feel lifeless 😴
🔹 Marketing tricks automakers use to sell cars 💰
🔹 The problem with leasing and depreciation 📉
🔹 The joy of driving a true analog machine 🏎️💨
If you love cars that actually make you feel something, you’ll want to watch this. Comment below-do you prefer old cars or new cars? Let’s discuss! 👇

you are my automotive spirit "animal" dude; the "only" difference is that you have two cool 911s and live in driving heaven land but, we do share the same perspective of what we are living, from an automotive pov.

Cars from 1990’s up to 2017 is the golden era, and I love!! The downsized engines, turbos, and especially batteries, and quiet exhausts are such a turn off!!

Totally agree man, great insight and perspective! My wife and I got a 2014 Toyota 4Runner a few years ago; and feel like it’s kind of the sweet-spot of modern safety and comfort, but with old reliable mechanics and good design. We plan to have this vehicle for years and years, but the next vehicle we purchase down the road will be something older.

Finally someone that talks about this! The car manufacturers have to wake up. We don´t want UFOs that drive by themselves with touchscreens and displays, we want cars for enthusiasts with a soul.

Agree. Modern tires are the key. They gave the fully independent suspension and all-around disc brakes the advantage in the mid/late 1960's. Then came electronic motor management in the 1990's, giving us limitless (in public road use terms) power. And finally 3D CAE, bringing NVH perfection. And post the generation that came out around 2010 everything was dominated by bureaucracy, and not by engineering. 2013/14 is the cut-off date, with post-CV19 cars being the worst.

Owned a 964C2man for 13years, one of the best ever. Then my absolute favourite, 993turbo, 10yrs. Now GT4 and GT3, great cars but lack serious soul and driver engagement on the road (note, not on track, magnificent!).

So true. All the touchscreens and new technology are just more distracting and you lose the emotion and connection to the car. The best driver's cars have already been built. And the new car prices are just getting insane for what you get

Seems like the newer performance cars are made more for straight lines rather than curves. If you look at the new 992.2 Turbo S stats that is supposed to come out soon - 1.7 Seconds to 100kmh on street conditions.

Good question! Thank you! Unfortunately some types of people who buy f87’s drive them like there is no tomorrow, therefore have created a very poor image of anyone who drives one. Then they are poorly tuned which makes it even worse, and to find one today that hasn’t been drifted around parking lots is tricky.
      Hope I answered your question’

G87 M2 is the best modern M car BMW has made. True M engine, lightweight with the carbon package and manual, carbon bucket seats so good Porsche copied them. Future classic

Modern cars are extremely expensive disposable movable iPads. Seriously the amount of gimmicks huge dangerously reflective screens and very difficult to use UI and ultra complicating emission things bolted to engine and so on .. all of theese thing took away the personality and character and most importantly ( reliability) ,, just look how new toyota are built :(
I just want a new car with analog gauges real hand break and no screen bolted to the dash:/

Its interesting that you criticize the way cars are marketed and then talk about the lack of soul while driving a Porsche. A company that in my opinion has a PHD in marketing the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO). Where the only good Porsche is your next new Porsche. The old car that you are driving for some, if anything goes wrong with it can set you back so financially that you will regret the purchase. All of what you say isn't consistent with the image of you in your previous video driving a newer Porsche.
