ESEE Survival Kit 2.0: Desert Survival Scenario - Lost Hikers in Nevada - ESEE Izula, Fire Steel
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- In this video my wife and I are using a survival kit I built utilizing the ESEE Escape & Evasion Wallet Kit as a baseline. I reviewed the original kit a while back and then I made some changes to it so it would be more like a survival kit and less like the E&E kit. As you'll see, we don't use all the items (though a future video will show the next iteration of the kit with more use of more items), but overall it gave us a few essentials that would have helped us out if we were really lost.

Great video. Thanks to Mrs Tim for being part of it.
Hello Tim, thank you for sharing this very informative video. It is good that you take your wife to the outdoors. The situation that you portrayed occurs all too often. Very beneficial information. Take care out there. 🤗
She really is an awesome addition to your channel. Very informative and great chemistry with camera. Refreshing...great job.
So, been watching you for years and this is the first time I remember you and wife doing something like this. For future reference you need to introduce her more into your videos, because when couples do things like this together it is much more entertaining and informative. Great video.
Copy that, Tom.
Seeing all the hearts from her eyes to you, lucky man. And of coz, nice video! 😁
I am always looking for survival gear/kit ideas. Great info and ideas. Nice to meet the MRS, bring her along more often.
Awesome video it's cold in Nevada at night nice mini survival kit love the esse izula
I think 🤔 this video was very helpful and I'm a big believer in WHAT YOU LEARN IS WHAT YOU KNOW ? Thanks, I will be looking forward to seeing 👀 more videos.
Thanks for watching
Hello Mr. & Mrs. Everyday Tactical Vids. Great scenario & informative. We definitely learned a lot from the both of you. Hope to see more of both of you doing a survival episodes. You got my wife & three girls now very interested in surviving outdoors. Cheers from everyone in Australia.
Thanks for sharing. This is such Great message to receive. I can’t wait to share this with my wife.
Great video. It's good to see your wife is like minded and supportive.
Great points! wish anyone going for day hike would watch & practice your advice! Looks like a great area by the way! Thanks for addressing this life-saving issue.
M Happe thanks for watching this.
Great seeing you two at SHOT Show. Awesome video!!
You too, brother.
That survival pouch takes up the bulk of the space . Put all the contents in the pouch that the space blanket is sold in
Thks for the useful tip guys, awesome job on the vids, and keep it up.
Thanks Shawn.
Great video Tim. Your wife is lovely. These scenario kit testing videos are always cool to watch.
Thanks for checking it out.
I'm from VA but I live in NH so I love that you deal with the same weather and materials to survive with
Good deal man - shout out to the 603
I like that your traveling to different states with different surroundings/environments.
Yeah - bucket-list is to do 1 in every state.
@@EverydayTacticalVids Rite on! Awesome idea!
Liked having such a good helper in the video she did great
REALLY REALLY LOVED this video. Thank your wife for participating in this teaching session. It’s funny how our wife’s tend to “class up” our videos and projects. Again good video!
Glad you liked it - thanks for the positive comments - and yeah, my wife is great! :)
Nicely done.
Fantastic video. Subbed. Great listing of items too, thank you very much
Thanks David - this was a fun video to make.
Great discussion points....next best vid....stay the course till sunrise....Thanks
Coming in the spring I think.
Enjoy the vid and the survival tips. I was very surprised to see just how many items the emergency escape kit held although i did notice that shelter and fire are significant. Blessings to you and Jenny. Thx for sharing.
Thanks for watching. It was strange to me as I put items in the wallet - I was like, "Wow - this is a lot of gear."
@@EverydayTacticalVids LOL yeah when spread out it seemed luke ot was almost too much. I wouldn't mind carrying a small kit woth that much potential. Thx again.
Welcome, and thanks for the vid you two! awesome!
Thanks MMO.
two bits of mylar can keep feet warm, and on the back of the bag can be used to melt snow quicker by reflecting the heat back into the snow
Good video, i usually also carry a painters tarp (outside the wallet) as a overhead protection option, when it rains it pours out here in the desert. And a brightly colored bandana as potential signal, pink or orange (for contrast). I think my kit is a little larger.
In the desert as well as anywhere else you should Always wait until the last possible moment to start your fire in order to make what wood you have gathered last as long as possible.. The temperature Always drops its coldest just before sunrise.. Just my two cents.. I live in the heart of the Sonora Desert the wood here burns good but fast however the coals give off heat for hours .. That's the only thing I'd say differently, Tim.. Much Love and Respect 💖
This is a great video thank you for the inspiration me and my wife will definitely be trying something like this she doesn't get out as much as I do but she does come out with me so this would be something good to practice you know we've talked about it the wood if and things like that while we're hiking and camping but never actually you know put it to the test I mean she knows how to use a a Ferro rod and she knows some things but to actually do this I think would be a great teaching tool that says thank you very much for this and you look like a great team God bless your family
Thanks for watching the video and the comments. Have fun out there and be safe!
Great as always, yet you took it another level with your wife ! She was awesome. Keeps up the great vids. Doc. C Emergency Management Instructor.
Great job on the video 👍👍👍👍
Just gunna say this man has got to be one of the best UA-camrs for his survival vids and the fact that he has a strong connection to his viewers
Hey there. Thanks for those very kind words.
Excelente aporte y gran video revision de productos de supervivencia y buen tutorial y informacion y consejos esta genial sigue asi un saludo
A suggestion for a future video: Have you wife and some other women put together a women specific Bugout/Get home bag.
Most bags are put together by men and don't account for female needs.
Men tend to be the ones making the bags and need to account for their wives, and daughters when they supply their Family prep. or camping set-up.
I know it's a touchy subject.
A minor suggestion: water purification tablets often expire after three years, it might be handy to label the year of expiry somewhere in the kit
thank you for the great vid and info
Thanks for watching.
Always good to see ideas tested.
If I took my loved ones out hiking in the desert, off marked trails, with any possibility of getting stuck or lost, my real emergency survival kit would be a satellite distress beacon. $300 to save our lives if something goes badly wrong.
UA-cam channels always seem to suggest that lost hikers will become magically ‘not lost’ after a night round a fire. In reality you’ll be more tired, dehydrated, weaker, more likely to make mistakes and injure yourself after a cold night of little sleep, feeding a fire. Navigating to safety will then be a matter of luck.
Cool! 😃👍. I might swap the floss for some fishing line. I just got one of the grim survival cards and I’m pleasantly surprised at the quality.
If you can survive in NH trying to survive anywhere else is just camping! Great video, nice to see new surroundings.
Ha! Yeah New Hampshire can be pretty tough.
I wanna see more vids like this plz
Cool setup I’ve been looking at the Izula or candiru knife I have the Enzo necker which is great but be it would be nice to have 2 neck knives because I’m crazy 😜.Love production hanger 51 my favorite tinder/fire starter company . I have a kieth titanium whistle but I’m thinking of getting the kizer titanium whistle very cool looking.
That looks like a great knife.
Good info video.
Hey good job the both of you,it is good to teach the indoor generation how to behave outside, because those walls they live in and think so much of are man made and come down so easily ,like anything man made!!! I again thank you both
Thanks Jim
It's a little larger but I like to use a single wall wide mouth stainless water bottle for my survival kit. Which can he used to boil water. The water bottle is large enough for a water filter and a couple of mylar blankets. I always go way overboard on fire starting materials.
You may want to add a small chemlight stick for signaling. Just a thought.
Good video good kit. I would add a flat razor blade to the wallet it takes up no room and gives you another cutting option especially if you don't have the Izula on you.
Nice addition.
Great video, and the wife is not only fine as frog hair, but more importantly she sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders, and a sense of humor.
I'd put at least a foot of duct tape in that kit to patch up the water bag when a cactus pokes holes in it, and maybe a pair of SAK tweezers to pull out cactus thorns that you might find yourselves getting into. haha
If it was me, I would not pack iodine tablets like that. The iodine escapes and they are worthless in short order. That's why they say once you open the bottle, you really need to use them all up fairly soon or just get a new factory sealed bottle and throw away the old tablets after a few months, but that's in the bottle, in a plastic bag....I bet they don't last a couple months.
I packed iodine tablets like that once and it turned everything slightly yellow. Iodine is pretty caustic and will corrode everything including cordage and what once was tough stuff, a two year old could break it, it was so weak. Even white aspirins were a yellow tint.
If it were me with this type of last ditch all out emergency kit, I'd swap out iodine tablets for potassium permanganate for extreme emergency water treatment. It's not the best, but it has a forever shelf life and for the same space as those few tablets, you can have enough PP to treat 100 or more gallons of emergency drinking water. Basically you'll starve to death before you run out of drinking water.
Again, it's not the best stuff and definitely old school water treatment, but it never goes bad, treats A LOT of water for a small amount of space in a kit, and it's dirt cheap to buy.
Here's some for disinfecting live fish aquariums.

I can't wait to see more videos like this with you two, and see how well those card fish hooks work. Keep up the great work.
Indeed. I definitely got the better of the deal :-)
Nice !
If it's Kevlar cord you are screwed over the long term using it. Kevlar thread deteriorates when it gets wet. My father in law had a gigantic spool of it from his job. He said it works fine when dry but wet is a no-go.
Is that pop out card saw somewhat sharp? Because it looks more like a fish scaler on video. Awesome looking kit for the size tho.
That's a nice little kit as would be expected from ESEE. However, is it wise to go into a desert any time of year without water and a more complete survival kit? Thanks for introducing us to Jenny.
Grim tool card the Fowler tool card has fish hooks trap triggers a tick removal tool and a fixed blade knife it might be a good option to put in there for if you lost the izula
brent couturiaux good addition
Great video thanks for sharing your thoughts and time...the only recommendati could say would to maybe tare that reflecting tape on your kit in half and put it on both sides of the kit just incase it happens to fall on the side with the tape would render that useless if you couldn't see the reflection? And maybe add a Mylar blanket? Great review...what was the kit worth when you purchased it? Watching from the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island in Canada! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs #22ADAY 👍🏼🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏼
Thanks Tim (and Jenny). Wow... mini survival kits... so many over so many years.
First... a video on a survival kit isn't complete unless put to test completely. It's great to know what you would do with the kit, but unless you do it, there isn't resolve. I'm not a fan of a single mini survival kit that can be carried in a single pocket. What would you do without having that "extra" knife? Yes, I have made my own mini kits in the past years, but I didn't focus on one kit. My thought was always... I have more than one pocket... why not more kits? At least (in warmer months), if I have a cargo pocket on my pants, I generally have another. In the colder months, we all have winter coats with many pockets. My old kits were built around the Altoids tins... I had a fire kit, I had a cutting and cordage kit, and I had a shelter kit. Three Altoids tins are not too bad to carry EDC (once we are used to doing it as routine). Still... I stay away from them now. A body carry EDC, a carry EDC bag, and a vehicle carry emergency bag/kit are what make up our emergency system now.
What good is a compass w/o a map out in the deserts
Agreed! Don't eat the yellow snow.
Hi can you please demonstrate it with that kit
A space blanlet or two and a $1 emergency parka from Walmart fire starter stuff fot signaling not heat. Reflective tape, a mirror a whistle and several ziplock bags But the rain gear and space blanket a must
I cant really imagine someone lost overnight in the desert unless they are immobile from injury
Watched the entire video. It appears you did not use the morse code for SOS. I only bring it up because you chose to add the whistle to your pack. other than that, great advice! subbed.
The correct sequence for SOS is: dot dot dot dash dash dash dot dot dot
Yeah - I didn't want to do that in case someone did hear it and respond. But good call - SOS is the pattern I'd use in a real situation.
Wow that’s crazy you guys actually said Nevada right
Lindo video soy lucas desde argentina.saludos..my.frend..
very informative Tim,you and Jenny should do more vids together;-)
sawdust 69 I hope to do this more often.
for sure ,it will add a another dimension to the channel .plus she seems to be very comfortable in front of the camera, all the best to u guys:-)
Um the reflective tape is only on one side so at least a 50 percent chance it will land with the tape side down. If you put the light on the outside of the kit how are you going to squeeze it to look for the kit you lost?
Is the key chain with the reflective side and the signal mirror on the other side made by ESEE? I can't find it as part of the ESEE Pocket Survival Kit.
Nice video & very informative, but honestly I'm tired of seeing links to Amazon all over UA-cam and Google. If I can't get something locally at a store I'll order it online from a business that specializes in the item I'm purchasing.
Awesome. Glad you’ll support local businesses.
I think that was the first time ive seen you without a hat on
Yeah, I tend to wear a hat to keep my head warm and also to reduce the glare :-)
Nice video with your wife. Nice to see the gear in use not just packed up in a bag or pack. I would like to see more practical use videos like this please. May our Lord and Savior Jesus keep you and your family as you continue in life.
Thank you David. More videos like this are definitely in the future. Blessings to you as well.
Are you on Mt. Charleston? Or further North? I live less than hour drive from Charleston peak.
yes we were. Very cool place
Good looking couple!! Sir I love your ring where did you get it??
It’s actually a silicon ring
Thank you... I will get one for my husband!!
The wallet itself takes up too much space...You can can get more stuff in the classic altoid tin, and it bet the tin itself would be lighter and less bulky...
Been watching your video for a while now. You always usually have a good stuff. My videos on this kit or any tiny kits like this would be your a fool. If you’re traveling you should have so much more. I would be telling people that these things are worthless you should be carrying more. I don’t believe anyone would be wandering around with tactical pants on with just his kit.
Frank Gallo I really think the idea is that you have this on you at all times and something has happened that doesn’t allow you to grab a more well prepared bag
I understand what you’re saying. But if you noticed at the beginning of the video even Tim had on a backpack that looked pretty full to me. So he even knows you need more. The part about heating up rocks for heat disturbs me a little bit they can blow up if they have moisture in them. I have been in the Adirondack mountains Lost myself. I made it through the night with just the clothes I had on hunting clothes. I just don’t believe that this video would help anyone. You have fishing hooks with no fishing line. Don’t give me wrong I do respect Tim and your response. On the other hand him and his wife certainly had more on them just to do this video.
Consider adding a SAK Farmer
I would love to get a dogtag like that for myself, is it custom or store bought?
I believe this one is from Grimm survival
If you're crafty, you can get glow-in-the-dark nail polish, mirror tape, and dog tag at a craft store to make several.
If it'd fit, I'd use a business card size tag instead of a dog tag.
Bigger reflective surface, and bigger/more light.
I put some of the glow paint on the edge of my flashlight/torch lenses so I can find them in the dark.
In most fishing departments, you can find little 1/2 inch glow sticks for several hours of battery free (here I am) light.
I suggest adding those to your kits.
Do you have a vid on those boots? What are they?
Surago not a full video but here they are - ua-cam.com/video/9NkF12clTHA/v-deo.html
EverydayTacticalVids sweet thanks. I’ve been looking at the lapg brand boots glad to see you’ve been putting them through some paces for two years.
Just a suggestion, but since your with your wife , woman always carry a bag of some sort so you could've put a mylar blanket in her bag.
What did you have to say to get your wife to go along with this experiment?
She was interesting in doing this without me saying much honestly.
i would put some anti hystamines and imodium in the kit and anti bacterial wipes
Great advice, nice wallet kit. Maybe add some small medical items. Check out #Blackscoutsurvival TSK travel survival kit & their other kits. Great you have a partner with like interests. You look happy. Right on!
UCO ‘fireproof’ matches lol😂😂
👍🇲🇾
Note to self: never move to a dry cold desert
Definitely married up
My friend you most certainly did marry up.
Good looking couple. You'll have to tell your wife I'm sorry that she married down 😂
True true
That sir gave me a good chuckle. 😂👍
Dude, you need to get your wife more involved in your videos. Great to see someone actually use a kit, not just talk a good game.
Thanks man. Appreciate your thoughts and views
Thanks for telling me orange is easy to see 🙄
ESEE seems very expensive for what you get in my opinion
Lost? No problem, show me the location of Moon and the Sun and I'd be out inside 2hrs.
The stars are a big plus.
I mean no disrespect . I love Desert Survival Scenarios . I've lived in Arizona and The Sonoran Desert all my life , 56 years . Here in Phoenix we just had a hiker die in 110°F 43°C temps . Two Fire and Rescue dudes had to be carried down Camelback Mountian .
No one wants to shoot a video in 90°F 100°F plus heat . Someone needs to . Someone really need to show what happens or a dramatic rendition of it ...but when the people in the video have jackets and beanie caps .....not a whole lot of emergency rescues happing across the U.S. deserts in Winter .
Every year both in our Hot Season and the Cold Season , as we say here in Arizona , people ( campers and hikers ) either get in a emergency rescue situation or .....die . People need to stop coming to Arizona in high summer and going hiking without enough water in 100°F plus weather . Please , do your research before you travel to Arizona .
He said fire proof matches 😂
Bravo on choosing a woman for yourself, you are one compact entity, with a successful man goes a woman you deserve my friend, great video I would not add or subtract anything here, heartfelt greetings from me for you from Serbia
Thanks for the kind words! Greetings from the U.S back to Serbia.
what you want to do if you ever get lost in a forest or in some desert or someplace like that you light everything on fire and then before you know it there will be all these firemen and people coming to put out the fire oh my gosh you're fired so scary we got to put it out cuz it might burn stuff and then you just say hey we're lost out here as long as you're over here putting out this fire you might as well give us a lift and some chicken
No reason you couldn't have a small fire near your shelter to keep warm.
That’s the truth right there
Its nice ir you have stuff, but ir you lost your magic bag,and you broke both legs..you are done
I’d say if I broke both my legs even with my magic bag it would be a bad day.
so why did you need the big backpack you left your car with if your survival kit is all that good.....lolllol
Your head is a signal mirror timmy
Lol. So true
Everybody shits on those little cards but I think they're fine. Ditch all those unused Kroger cards in your wallet and voila, useful stuff instead.
You married up is an understatement sorry 😂
Absolutely.
Wasted cash unless they gave you that crap free. Next time use an altoid tin and tape a few strikers on the inside lid for matches. Get all that stuff and more in the tin with better space management.
You are not going to "survive" with anything like these kits. Nobody that is actually stupid enough to get stuck in the woods would even think of this crap anyway. As for the people that do think of these kits. They are not likely to ever need onefor using ones brain to not get into stupid trouble.
You had me until you put in that horrible background music. Yuk.
