My daughter is 7, when she was 4 I started her with a small pink tool box, roll of pink duct tape, gloves, glasses and pink stubby screw drivers. She now has a good set going of the basics and has a pretty good understanding of how they work. We’ll be at the hardware store and she’ll pick up a pair of slip joint plier and ask if she can get them because the last time we needed them she had to go to my tool box for them because she doesn’t have any. Teach them young.

You must have been in Southeastern Oklahoma where the thick pea soup fog made deer easy pickings. Up in the Panhandle, the pickings were antelope and pheasants. In Osage County don't mess with the loose roaming buffalo that can get you in hot water.

You saw our ARB bumper when we visited and I've done a couple review videos about it. I love the ARB it's a solid one-piece bumper with great welds on it. Luckily I haven't hit anything with it but we lived really remote for 4 years with lots of big game and I'm just glad we had the bumper in case something happened. Especially when my wife was taking the Tacoma to town for groceries. The ARB bumper can come with or without a light kit and we decided to go with the light kit to have the fog lights but looking back I'd probably go without the light kit. We honestly don't use those lights that much and when we are driving through the fog I sometimes forget I even have them. I actually did a full video of how to install the bumper too. It's not complicated and they will ship the bumper to your front door. I'm sure you or your hired hand could throw it on there in an afternoon. Great time to upgrade the bumper though. I was driving a semi, when 3 deer ran across the highway in front of the truck (not directly in front, but maybe 75-100 feet). Being 90,000lbs I instantly knew there was no avoiding them. I was taking at least one of them. Without a thought I just pointed the truck towards the gap between 2 of them and hoped for the best. Took 1 to each side of the truck, instantly killed both but managed to knock both off the highway and cleared the lanes. Luckily I had a steel bumper so even though it bent both sides and bent up the fenders, damage to the truck was minimal. While it still sucked, it was far better than taking one straight to the grill which would've most likely disabled the truck and caused a huge scene and mess on the highway. That said, I've also seen a "super car" take out a deer at an insane speed. Instant liquid deer soup is the best way i can describe it.
I remember my father telling me a story about when he drove across Africa, from the UK to Cape Town in 1981 in an old Range Rover, when he and his mates were driving through the Sahara and a vulture took out the wing mirror and smashed the windscreen. My father stopped the car as he and his friends considered eating the vulture as they were so low on fuel, but the damn thing got up and flew off. I think they later named the vulture, Toyota...
Sorry about the deer incident. Glad no one was hurt. My recommendation for a bull bar is the ARB Summit bar. It is the only one I have ever found that has been certified to work properly with air bag sensors. That bull bar plus a mild OME lift (1.5”) would be ideal.
Have you tried ultrasound deer whistles? They fit to the vehicle and make ultrasonic whistle when driving that the deer can hear but we can't. Sweetloaf is priceless. I have 3 daughters and they all knew (and still know) how to twist Daddy round their little finger. All the best, Rob
Ranch hand Bumpers. Load tested mine 3 times so far at weights up to 27K. Did have part of a lung fall out from under the truck one time the next day and some parts grew hair overnight. No real damage except to the license plate. Best thing to do if you can't get away is to center them up and let the bumper take the hit. In a car or light truck hitting on the side without a proper bumper can lead to the body wrapping around a steering tire preventing you from steering after the hit which could cause additional damage when you hit the tree which is now in front of you. When a hinney hits a frontie that is never a good thing.
When I had my front end mishap in my f250, the insurance company made me replace the bumper with an OEM replacement even though it was more expensive than an aftermarket upgrade......I don't like insurance companies! Lol

I use to travel about 100 miles of road surrounded by farms and woods at night every week. There were a lot of deer and there were a few sections of road that made me very nervous, and I would see the deer in the woods and along the road at night, and sometimes in the road. Well, I bought these deer whistles to stick on my bumpers, and truthfully, I never knew if they were really making a sound, because they were supposed to be so high pitched that only a deer could hear them. I have no idea how effective these things actually are, but I did notice that once I put them on my bumper, I would not see the deer anywhere near the road even in sections of roads and times of night that without the whistles I would always see them. I had two of the whistles on my bumper and I think one got knocked off or fell off once and I had to replace the whistles, but I would just regularly check to make sure they were still on the car and that nothing had gotten caught in them. Might be something you may want to try. It is still advisable to be alert even using them, and I have no idea how you could really test to see if they were working unless you logged deer sighting next to roads whenever you were driving and noted the hot spots. Might be something you could try and review. They sell them on Amazon.
the uk law if you kill game animals with your car on a public road you have to carry on and the next person can pick it up but the easy way is to get a friend in another car and get them to pick up that road kill.

C4 Fab makes some great Gen5 4runner bumpers, but you also can't go wrong with the ARB. Either way, now is a good time to maybe put a little heavier lift springs on.

Ranch hand Bumpers. Load tested mine 3 times so far at weights up to 27K. Did have part of a lung fall out from under the truck one time the next day and some parts grew hair overnight. No real damage except to the license plate. Best thing to do if you can't get away is to center them up and let the bumper take the hit. In a car or light truck hitting on the side without a proper bumper can lead to the body wrapping around a steering tire preventing you from steering after the hit which could cause additional damage when you hit the tree which is now in front of you.

When I had my front end mishap in my f250, the insurance company made me replace the bumper with an OEM replacement even though it was more expensive than an aftermarket upgrade......I don't like insurance companies! Lol

I use to travel about 100 miles of road surrounded by farms and woods at night every week. There were a lot of deer and there were a few sections of road that made me very nervous, and I would see the deer in the woods and along the road at night, and sometimes in the road. Well, I bought these deer whistles to stick on my bumpers, and truthfully, I never knew if they were really making a sound, because they were supposed to be so high pitched that only a deer could hear them. I have no idea how effective these things actually are, but I did notice that once I put them on my bumper, I would not see the deer anywhere near the road even in sections of roads and times of night that without the whistles I would always see them. I had two of the whistles on my bumper and I think one got knocked off or fell off once and I had to replace the whistles, but I would just regularly check to make sure they were still on the car and that nothing had gotten caught in them. Might be something you may want to try. It is still advisable to be alert even using them, and I have no idea how you could really test to see if they were working unless you logged deer sighting next to roads whenever you were driving and noted the hot spots. Might be something you could try and review. They sell them on Amazon.
get you a nice steel or aluminum bumper with a bar on it to take care of the pesky deer. glad everyone is okay stay safe!

the uk law if you kill game animals with your car on a public road you have to carry on and the next person can pick it up but the easy way is to get a friend in another car and get them to pick up that road kill.

C4 Fab makes some great Gen5 4runner bumpers, but you also can't go wrong with the ARB. Either way, now is a good time to maybe put a little heavier lift springs on.
