Examining the nature of the beast.
2:00 Omg, I can't believe I'm watching an armadillo use another armadillo as a ball. As if they both thought to each other "okay you're the ball this time."
So funny!
LOL you've been rolled .... get out of here :D
So cute!!!
You are supporting armadillo bullying right now, I hope you feel bad at least.
@@thegreatgoldfilms6311 that was my first thought too
I’m from Argentina, once caught one walking through the road, rolled up into a ball, let him free at a field where there was no ppl.
It is weird how all armadillos are associated with rolling up in balls when only one species can do it
Lord Shonji
Because where YOU come from YOU are only familiar with that one species
@@Human12208 you sound bitter. Want a snickers?
Dominican Dragon do you need some milk?
@@Parisroam he's not wrong tho
its because the one that rolls into a ball is one of the most common armadillos and are the ones that spend the most time around humans, they're also the only one that live in America so they're the ones that appear the most in media as well. The rest of the armadillo species live in much more remote areas and live in South/Central America, who produce much less media, so they'll appear less in TV shows, movies, etc.
Sushi Chef: “why is this salmon sashimi walking?”
That was my thought when I saw the thumbnail.
it's more like a raw salmon nigiri
@@willvan7685 Actually it's more like tuna nigiri.
@@drone306 true. it's a bit more red than pink.
Lol
The pink armadillo looks like a cute fluffy roll of sushi
Oh Hey There weeb
SwallowedInBlack I don’t think u know what a weeb is
Captain Maple sashimi you uneducated weeb
Nope, Sashimi is just plain raw fish. Looks more like Nigiri with their light bodies.
It's called sashimi dude 😒😒😒😒
Can't wait for fairy/ground Pokémon based on this cute animool
Lol
Lol 😂
They already did, the pokémon is named sandshrew, a ground pokémon, who is well known for it's ability to roll into a ball and is yellow like sand. There is also an alolan version of the pokémon who is a ice and steel type pokémon and is white.
@@dandydandelion5502 I'd say they're more pangolins than armadillos. Even beyond that, it's not like an animal already having a Pokemon counterpart prevents them from doing it again in the future.
Plus, fairy/ground would be way more interesting than just plain ground. Defensively, it's got two immunities, only one extra weakness because ground resists poison, and it can protect itself from most steel types anyway because of its ground typing.
Offensively, it would be one of the best possible combos. Ground and Fairy together hits a hell of a lot of powerful mons super-effectively. To not take 1x damage from either of them, the only valid options are being Steel/Flying, Poison/Flying, Fire/Flying, or a Fairy-resistant type with Levitate.
They are clearly shrews. It's in the name 🤦♂️
that scream sounded like a cat being stepped on
No they just regularly meow
I'm scared at the fact you know what a cat being stepped on sounds like.

It sounds like a broken car alarm lmao

I saw an armadillo just a few weeks ago. It was by the parking lot at my job, it's more bordered by woods than most areas around. Sadly, that was the first one I'd seen alive, the only times I'd seen them before were when they were roadkill. RIP little guys.
Armadillos are nature’s adorable screaming coconuts 😍
Could they have been carried by a swallow?

I’d say it starts more at 4:14.
that armadillo scream is my new ringtone.
*Policeman:* "excuse me sir, we've received reports that you have a cat down your pants and it's been screaming at people. I'm afraid we're going to have to strip search you"
I read this at the same time it happened in the video! 😅
How did you do that? I want it for my wake-up alarm!
The races don't dream animal friendly. The fence climbing armadillo is hilarious and the fairy just plainly adorable 😍 - thanks for the great content!
There used to be armadillos the size of a small car.
All the cool stuff just *HAD* to go extinct.
Dr.Bright Yep.
At least Blue Whales still exist. For now...
Happy the massive millipedes went extinct though
@@cortster12 ironically blue whales only came to be their size AFTER all the super predators went extinct.
We are the cool stuff
Here in Brazil we call them "tatu", and the ones that roll up into a ball like form are called "tatu-bola" hehehe
Yeah, in Argentina we call them tatú carreta, kkkkkkk.
@@rockdealer1 yo siempre los llame armadilos o armadillos
@@cractor6307 Nah, siempre les dije mulita, peludo, tatú o quirquincho. Armadillo jamás. De dónde sos?
Rock Dealer

The South: Yeah but how can we exploit them in a low budget festival??

I saw this and I thought to myself "oh that's a weird looking sushi 🍣" 😂😂😂
As much as i strongly oppose the "racing" of armadillos, i gotta admit, the footage of them "working out" was absolutely adorable!

That dude really doesn’t like that Armadillo
05:45 my cat was alerted upon hearing that coconut scream
Butler: your sushi sir.
Rich guy: wait a minute this a armadillo
Annnddd I can never look at another armadillo without laughing hysterically from that sound. It sounds like a computer trying to imitate a cat yowling.
5:40 I think this might explain the armadillo noises in Crash Bandicoot 2.
In argentina the screaming hairy armadilo is called Peludo meaning Hairy One
thanks for the info.
Sounds like my ex
love the name, hermano.
Pink Armadillo is the most beautiful and heavenliest animal in the world.
Armadillos are the lowercase version of Ankylosaurus, change my mind.
As recently as 10,000 years ago, there were armadillos the size of medium-size ankylosaurs, or a small car, roaming around.
fun fact: Armadillomon from Digimon can digivolve to Ankylomon
sry too busy upvoting you to change hearts n minds
Doedicurus, un armadillo fósil gigante era parecido al ankylosaurus

My mom's parents once found and adopted a wild armadillo (we call em "pichi") she fell in love with it, but a week after they made soup out of him 😭
Lmao they made world of tanks a real thing
That screaming armadillo touched some deep place in my cat

Armadillo races look awesome! They should bring those to Arizona.
The screaming armadillo sounds like those street bikes that are only like 250cc but rev super high
I just finished reading Moby-Dick, and I'd love to see an episode about sperm whales.

My cat immediately stopped what she was doing at the sound of the screaming hairy armadillo...
First of all, I LOVE the necklace Danielle is wearing, super cool. While at my Mom's house in Oklahoma, my chihuahua and I were getting home after dark. Cupcake (my Chihuahua) always goes out the door of the garage first, while I'm getting things our of the car. When I came out, I saw what I thought was Cupcake; when my eyes adjusted to the dark, I saw it was an Armadillo! First it startled me, but it didn't move, and I saw just how darn cute it was!! It wobbled off, and I was in love !! My only fear of them is that my Chihuahua would possible catch leprosy, other than that, I would love to play with one!! Thank you for doing a story on Armadillos!!
The one screaming oh isnt it just the cutest.☺
Alligator snapping turtle!!!!!!!

Thank you, administrator, for highlighting the environmental threats faced by armadillos. We as a society need to get serious about restoring animal habitat or our children will be robbed of the habitable, healthy planet they deserve.
Very informative. Such a cute little thing❣️ Love the illustrated effect.

Hi Danielle, i looooove your channel, it's awesome to learn more and more, specially with fun involved. I'm a biologist also a naturalist guide. These are full of information that can be useful for all of us.
I just wanted to inform that in 00:41, the species used to illustrate some information is not the nine banded armadillo, but the six banded, I thought it was important to share.
Thank you a lot
Real life Sandshrew and a video on Starfish would be neat
Are armadillos related to pangolin ?
Nah panogöin are more closly related to hedgehogs.
Apparently not, must be a case of convergent evolution, since they both eat ants, but surprising since mammals having skin armor is so rare.
The closest relatives to pangolins, oddly enough, is the order Carnivora. Don't know how the other guy came up with hedgehogs.
Scientists used to think that, but not anymore.
Dude, I love armadillos so much. You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this episode!
I relate so much to the three banded armadillo. Like when it rolls up, that’s me in an awkward conversation.

How about the kudimondi?
I worked at a petting zoo that had a pair of them. I loved these two and could often be found in their enclosure petting and hand feeding them grapes. I’d love to know more about my furry friends the kudimondi.
Can you please do sea gulls next? They are so common, so close to us, and so unfairly hated by many.
Armadillos being threatened to extinction by hunting and they carry leprosy! LOL
Fun Fact: Pink fairy armadillos are the closet living relatives to the extinct Glyptodonts. A group of giant, car-sized herbivorous armadillos.
