The reason they shut down Last of Us Online was apparently because it would mean needing the entire team to work on it for the long term and them not being able to make single player games, and they chose to make single player games. I respect it. At the same time, they don't have to make a huge scale standalone live service or whatever. Just make a reasonable scale fun PVP mode. Just make Factions 2.

What single player games?! They don't have fucking shit to work on other than just stupid unnecessary remasters and remakes!
Yeah wasted their time on the remake for part 1 and the remaster for part 2, honestly I can understand the remake but they literally could've done the online and I think that would've somewhat saved Naughty Dog.
Ay, I can get behind that. We all love Single Player games
I can respect that they realize that you need to treat live service games the same way you do MMO's. You can't just release a live service game then move on to another project and just leave a skeleton crew behind to run it. Just look how it turned out for Anthem and Marvels Avengers.
It's wild how much game studios lack foresight these days.
And with the way the internet works it's quite baffling. They can literally go into the comment section of gaming UA-cam channels and get direct access and understanding as to what gamers want from them. It literally makes no sense. To have an insane budget to create a game where there's little to no guessing as to what will give you a return on the money you put into it. Makes absolutely no sense
@@jfelton3583 I think the people making decisions dont listen or care what their customers think.
@@jfelton3583"You want make a new game with new characters? Thats just stupid! No new game is making Money, Look, the renevue from Epic its giant! We need that! Thats Fornight? Lets do that! Just copy them but use your characters, its gonna be alright, i trust you, just dont fail, and make a billion dollar product that never stops, its simple get it?"
-Probably Jim Ryan
@@jfelton3583 You can find literally ANY opinion in comment sections. It's just noise. Too many contrary and contradicting perspectives. Too much effort to sift the good ideas from bad, and, if you're doing that in the first place, you've already decided what constitutes "good", so you don't really NEED the suggestions.
This sounds to me like it IS them exercising a degree of foresight, at least. They recognized that the project wasn't workable and decided to switch to something more productive.
Expect to see an announcement from naughty dog about how dreadfully sorry they are for having to let go of all the people that worked on this.
What are you talking about? It sounds like they tried to split up teams. So obviously if they scrapped the online people would just return to working on the new IPs....
Not laying people off when they just said it's because they couldn't split up people two do both at once.
Thanks for your effort, now get out. You're fired
Who got let go?
@@ianchinsor9248 nobody. People are just assuming. As if they care apart who worked on anything when they just rejoiced forspoken studio losing their jobs lol.
@@crowing3886The online portion of this game has been in development alongside the single-player portion. They hired devs specifically for the online portion, which was supposed to release separately from the single-player portion and be its whole own grand scaled thing (even though all everyone everywhere wanted was something simple like Factions 2). ND eventually went mysteriously silent about the online, and with the announcement of a Remaster no one asked for, it was perfectly obvious the online portion was getting cancelled.
With its cancellation, there’s bound to be devs fired who were specifically brought in for it. They’ve been working on this for years and now their work is just gone.
To absolutely no one’s surprise. The writing was on the wall for the project for so long.
Agree
It was there since it was beginning.
They just took long enough to realise it..😏
@@Zero_System81 some of the workers might have known but Sony unfortunately got the trend trap or they smelt money but unfortunately to get there you need a lot of resources.
Naughty Dog has joined the club of singleplayer focused game studios that forced themselves to be focused on multiplayer out of greed.
Bioware and Bethesda are welcoming with open arms.
A single person with sense over greed could have saved a lot of time and money.
Too bad Neil Druckman isn't that kind of person.
imagine if they didnt focus on mtx and such, instead making a good multiplayer expansion.
It was the exact opposite of that. The reason the project was initially shelved was bc it was not going to be a years-long live service monetization platform, e.g. it would not make a ton of money over the long term, or, greed was the reason the project was cancelled.
?? the reason it got shutdown (along with other complications to be sure) is cause the game would have been one of those ultra-monetized live service games. Choosing to make single player games as opposed to that is not greed, it’s just sticking to what they do best.
@@TommyDeonauthsArchivesguaranteed he wasn’t the reason why they even pursued live service, seems like it was a push from above for all studios to try and make a LS game.
They must regret not making Factions 2 a standard multiplayer mode for TLOU 2 instead of a full blown standalone live service game with years of DLC support
I hope they will try to salvage factions 2, i also hope the live service bit was a corporate mandate from sony
All that budget was spent on adding more lesbianism and feminism content into the game.
What a waste. All those years of teasing/giving no information, to only get nothing when all people wanted was factions 2.
you can blame bungie for rejecting their already finish factions 2 mode and Jim ryans pivot for live service.
@@HanDaimond go cry about it
"We are immensely proud of everyone at the studio that touched this project," sounds really bad to me. Like this is a statement indicating a massive layoff in the future for the studio. I can see them laying off a lot of people because now that this project is being cancelled/shelved those extra people who might've been hired on to work on this project aren't needed anymore. As we've seen time and time again if there's a way to slim down the studio to save a few bucks, even after record breaking profits, the owners will do it without a second thought. Idk it just looks bad for anyone who was working on that team.
Bit of a stretch. Maybe it could happen. But, I see a lot of the devs who were on this project moved over for more manpower on the new IP they are working on.
@andrewsilverio8289 Considering that those hires wouldve mostly been for their multiplayer/netwoeking experience, and how there's a very real, very recent precedent for the exact behaviour OP deacribed from major game companies, I'd say it's definitely more on the likely side than not.
But hey, maybe they'll break the mold and be respectable towards their surplus employees.
They already had a round of layoffs about two months ago, which may have been related to this move. But I guess there's always room for more...
Agreed that's exactly what it is but they can make remakes and remasters though right? Smh
It's good that they decided to not dedicate their entire studio to a live service game (for obvious reasons). Where they went wrong is trying to make a live service game IN THE FIRST PLACE. They could've just made a small scale multiplayer game in line with the original Factions mode and no one would have minded. I certainly would've played the hell out of that!
Agreed, I’ve been playing the original since launch. I would’ve been completely fine with this.
Jim Ryan's Live Service dreams were damaging to the whole company.
I personally think they had no intention of releasing it, they just covered face from the massive backlash that part 2 didn't have a MP mode and said they were working on it.. like the excuse they have here doesn't add up one bit..
3 years of dev time down the drain and are scared it will take up all there staff to support it in the coming years! Total BS
Don't believe there lies
It will have cost $100s of Millions in lost revenue and cost.. they could have easily employed 40 people to support this going forward.
Don’t believe there lies guys!
It was mandated by Sony
That’s what I expected. The original, but with reasonable upgrades and some cool innovation to make it feel fresh. Of course they wanted live service for the money it could bring and then abandoned it for the work it requires to make it more than the bullshit like Anthem.
NAUGHTYDOG needs to remaster their management team
Who in management at Naughty Dog sat back and approved a live service game, and then 4+ years and maybe $100+ million dollars into the project then said, “Oh, we didn’t think about how live service games require continuous development.”
Someone needs to be fired yesterday. If I wasted a fraction of that much money or even a single year of my team’s time, I would be gone, and rightfully so. This is an absolute indictment on the management currently at Naughty Dog. Things are seriously wrong there.
I think there's more to this story. You can't blame 1 person when Naughty dog has 400 employees.
Same thing 343i did. Made Halo live service and cried 'Developer mental health' when players bitched about lack of content. Lmao.
I dunno , ask Neil Druckman , I'm sure he'll be happy to answer your question in rapid time on twitter
sooo dramatic man. reassessing projects happen, especially since dev time happened during pandemic. calm down lmao
As someone that works in the industry, a canceled game is not a complete loss. Would not be surprised if a large portion is reworked into a new product or update to a future game.
I'm sure the board didn't see this as an immense loss of product.
"We only have money to make 3 more remakes of TLOU" -Neil Druckmann
Didn't need to be so ambitious. Just factions with the new gameplay. Instead of fireflies and hunters it's wlfs and scars.
It didn't need to be a huge stand alone
Ikr they're are so braindead
Absolutely
3:50 Wow, what a bold move to say "We can't give you the thing that you've been looking forward to since the first game, because we tried to make it into an infinite money machine instead of just making a good experience that people would pay for once."
For real.
They tried to make it soemthing it didn't need to be. They should have just refined the PVP from the first game.
Exactly like supply raid and interrogation mode
1.over promise
2.utter shitshow behind the scenes
3.release the game anyway to get pre orders
4.apologize for obvious lies and scam

Welcome to the modern gaming experience.
Score one for gamers everywhere. Live service is a blight.
You said it! It's a blight that must be snuffed out!
Yay "live service". Can't wait for Suicide Squad shut down
@@ofearghailthefearless6481 snuffed and utterly purged.
No it's not... because gamers are retarded and keep throwing money at these games. Call of duty is increasingly junkier every year, according to the people that play it. Then they buy it all over again the next time. Same with madden and so many other games.
Payday 3 released an unfinished mess and people had no content after a month. It took a month to release the first patch because they are incompetent. And in that first update they added insanely cool things that for sure isn't just a basic game feature, First person animations, and these dumb fucks praised them for it. Gamers are so dumb and video game quality is so abysmally bad that first person animations made people excited... Then they released 2 legacy heists from payday 2. Completely working, no problems. And all i can think is those maps were supposed to be for launch but the game was in such a bad state they knew that they wouldn't have anything ready for months. So they held them off. It takes 5-10 minutes to get into a solo lobby because everything is online all the time and their servers are fucking trash, there are bugs that it released with still in the game, the progression system is absolute trash, there is no built in voice chat, and on the mission screens it literally says "communication is key"
But they did release their first DLC already, which is 15 dollars for one map... so we know where the priorities are.
But these people will keep buying it.
What about Fortnite? Is that also a blight?
Personally, the second game killed my interest in the franchise, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened to others.
We saw this coming. When neil is head of the Studio he will destroy it slowly
Another promise broken. Add it to the pile.

This is great news. They can focus on what they're good at, releasing more remasters.
This is so sad but do you think they'll remaster it soon?
Good one!
Don’t worry their next game will be a PS6 launch title so right the round the corner !!
They will remaster it with incomplete content
*Remaster time* 😂
If we’re lucky we’ll only have to wait till next month
What did bungie say to naughtydog? "The players arent wasting their time enough, this game will never succeed." Seems to be their MO these days.
But Bungie is right. None other liveservice with sucess keep launching games.
A good live service uses 100% of the Studio to generate content and keep going.
Give up is wiser.
@@RoyMatzem oh I don't disagree,
I'm just saying they're speaking from experience, working on content for destiny for as long as they have must've been hell.
If there isn't enough time wasting, there's not enough motivation for microtransactions.
Something like that. I heard that they essentially said that the game wouldnt hold players retention
Live service games are a huge gamble for developers, you have to have the right game, at the right time with the right support.
Any issues with those factors and the game will fail. I hope developers go back to more single player games since (imo) seems better practice for the industry and consumers while also offering lower risk since most live service players only play one live service game but will play many single player/narrative games.
In addition, failed live service games, or even successful ones, can be shut down, which is really bad for the preservation of games.
You're missing the point... Developers aren't making these decisions, the corporate investors are.
They don't understand when they see the "live service" model that "Live Service" is not actually a real developement strategy that exists.
"Live-Service" the model, is originally something made to create games you cannot otherwise make, and only survives on customer goodwill, much like "free advertising" is something that exists but you cannot build a company with that alone, cutting your PR department and just living off of no marketing doesn't increase profit margins enough to save you from a downturn, it just makes the downturn hurt less, "Live service" is not a model goal to try for, it's a last ditch effort to make a profit from a certain failure.
Cursed Monkey Paw grants your wish of more single player games.
But they're also Live Service too, because of course they are...
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League says "Hi" ... Yeah, I will eat my hat if that game is released and is successful.
Nah live service games aren't difficult to make. Every niche game will have die hard whales bleeding money for it.
Jim ryan was the one pushing the live service direction when this game got the green light, right? Well maybe this is one of the last remnants of his vision being put to an end being he's left sony.
Yeah, he totally "left"
Lets all just cheer for Naughty Dog who promised people something and didn't deliver yaaaaahhhhhoooo!!!
Yea let’s cheer for this shitty studio being shittier.
I know right?! It’s awesome😍
Oh, I’ll cheer. Singleplayer is what they’re good at, not multiplayer GAAS.
@@_Cetarial Not really
@@dtanobodid anybody ask?
I think studios don’t realize how big of an investment live service games really are until they start making them. I have a feeling after suicide squad comes out that will legitimately be the last big “obvious live service flop”. I can’t imagine that any other established studios will start working on those unless it’s a reletivley small pvp title like how apex originally was.
Pretty good rule of thumb in game development: you have a single player game you think will take X amount of time to develop, reality is double the X. Now you're making it an online game: quadruple it. If you are very experienced studio you can plan ahead but the reality is game development has too many unknown factors and variables you can't take in account everything.
Bruh they literally promsied us, they got goty with part 2 (which I don't think it deseved it), released the remake of Part 1 and are remastering Part 2 (I don't think anyone asked for) and now they're canceling this? This company man I just don't understand why? What a joke like did they even plan on making it in the first place, was there even gameplay or just art?
That joke is one of the best developers. At least they realized their mistake and will continue doing what they do best.
Idk about best anymore they aren't the same as when they used to be like are they even going to make a game for ps5 or just remasters all we got was 1 new game for the entirety of ps4
@@vecksims2577 We got 2 games from them. Uncharted 4 and TLOU 2....but to be fair, we'll probably only get one from them this gen.....
The game was in very advanced state, but this means nothing to a live service, if you dont have a "season" programmed, with continuous support and new content launching constantly, would an disaster of a game anyway. Cancel was smart(they should did sooner though)
They also are Developing two single players game, but those two are in early stages.
The amount of AAA devs binning games after a year or two really proves that the "No Mans Sky" dev team really deserve more praise
I really wish they had stuck with the original plan and just made it an online mode for TLOU 2 instead of letting its scale grow bigger and bigger. Factions like the first game with part 2’s gameplay and graphics would have been awesome.
Can't help but feel Sony's strange obsession with Live Service Games tried to push Naughty Dog more and more in this direction - and probably blew up the scope of the project to the point where it became completely infeasible
Bungie probably warned in a high-level teleconference: "Guys, take it from us, you have NO IDEA what you're getting into."
It was naughty cucks choice to expand on trash of us 2
I'm noticing a pattern here with Jim Ryan leaving Sony a lot of live service games just either on hold or straight up cancelled I'm not saying its definitely cause of this but its very coincidental
It seems like games just cant make multiplayer modes anymore without heavy monetization or turning into a full live service. Gaming developers I think need to take their time to remember what made older games better, and why multiplayer was big to begin with. It was fun, and it wasnt a big deal. People just want to interact with friends in a game that they're already having fun with on the single player or solo. Maybe some competition, but dont let it be the main focus of the multiplayer(like Gran Turismo 7 imo)
I'm glad ND is working on more single-player games because I'm getting so tired of the 100th version of TLOU 1
Wouldn’t surprise if they were aiming to surpass Skyrim in terms of Remasters made.
I'd still wouldn't buy them. Because Neil Cuckman isn't getting my money.
Now you're going to get a remaster of a game nobody likes !!!!
@@MR3LIXR10 million copies in 2 years and one of the highest completion rates of any AAA game would disagree with you.
I honestly think Naughty Dog as a company is terminally shutting down. Not anytime soon, mind you, but they have a ton of red flags common for dying companies.
They have more remasters than actual games of TLOU. They haven't officially announced a new game in nearly 4 years of any kind. They are in the same boat as Bioware, who havent officially announced/released a new game since Anthem back in 2019.
There are hints at projects, but nothing official.
A healthy company generally has a steady flow of official games released every so often. Valve may not release many games, but Steam is making them money hand over fist.
To the shock and disappointment of exactly no one.
I think if Sony wants to introduce live service games to their repertoire, Sony should try to bring back shooters like SOCOM, Killzone, or Resistance. Those would be really good candidates for that sorta thing. You can have a good singleplayer component, but those franchises were also known for their multiplayer as well and can be easily adapted to focus on the multiplayer side of things.
I dont know...that market is just too saturated
Feels like even if they did bring it back it will just be the same game as any other live service game, every character can be customized using bought cosmetics, theres no sense of identity at all besides the maps look at mw3 and how this ultra serious realism shooter has like superhero characters@@trahapace150
I knew it was a myth..... I loved Factions 1 but when the sequel dropped and it was just the singleplayer I knew it was never coming.
Remember the free to play uncharted multiplayer in the ps3 era, those were the days
I loved Uncharted 2 and 3 multiplayer ..until Playstation shut down the servers after just a few years.
Excuse me ? Bungie said people would get bored ?!?!? You can still find full on matches everyday on the ps4 multiplayer, I even find myself going back too . the community would of loved this /:
Dark times. Factions is still one of the best PvP modes.
They were probably overthinking it with the monetization
It just needed to be 3rd person counterstrike with crafting and reviving. That's it.
As someone who LOVES ND’s single player games, I’m extremely happy about this news.
Agree with you. I'm so sick of live service games. They're nothing but a cancer to studios.
Factions never affected your single player. You're happy something that doesn't affect you and that people like is gone. They said they would focus on single-player as a dogwhistle to make people like you come out and drown out those with valid negative feedback. Also agreed live service is terrible.
I hope this is a sign towards Playstation backpedaling their focus on live service games across all their studios, not just Naughty Dog. Maybe Bungie is still going forward with their live service game with Marathon. It's an awkward position for them to be in after Sony bought them for their experience in that field, but Bungie did use to make high quality single player games back in the day, so maybe they could be given a shot at it if it's something they would like to do, since they still operate independently, I think
I'm genuinely trying to understand why Sony bought Bungie to begin with. They're not even good at their own game. Just because it's arguably the "most successful" looter shooter doesn't mean it's actually good. And I think the gaming community has reached the point where we're tired of terrible life service games.
under different leadership id 100% agree with you on bungie making a kickass singleplayer game, but as of current? im not willing to bet on something like that sadly.
@ThomasTheTankEngine22 I agree destiny has been pretty bad for quite awhile now.
Having Bungie assess your game is like having a colorblind person recalibrate your monitor
I understand they wanna play at their strengths but man they really dropped the ball on this one. Imagine having an idea to be super ambitious and then go "wait then we'll all have to work hard on something we might not do well at and have never done before". Thats just insane. They really didn't consider just doing a regular multiplayer mode? As others have said, doing a "factions 2" style game mode for their remaster would have worked out so well. wtf man
The live service push came from Sony, their publisher and the company that owns them. Sony has 12 in total in the works right now, that they wanted to get out by 2026. Recent interviews show they only plan to release 6 out of the 12. Seems like a corporate head office being out of touch with what people want. I read years ago just after the PS5 launch, that they had gone this route and I have yet to buy a ps5 because of it.
Sony is bleeding money as we speak.
Factions is criminally underrated I was really looking forward to this...
Why gamers suprised by this? Cu*kman destroyed Naughty Dog since Amy Hennig was forced out of the company.
This was probably the right move, but it's still sad that this project these devs have put so much passion and hard work into is canceled
What an idiocy to praise them for abandoning the game. At lest, Anthem and Avengers came out, while ND removed Factions from the remake with the pretense that it would be made into its own game. They could and should have improved on the original Factions, they didn't even do that. Instead they sold a remaster for full price, which was missing its original MP.
It seems like they made this product exactly for dollar signs, and stopped when they realized it wasnt easy as they thought and just jumped shipped
Most accurate analysis I've read yet.
The original game was the peak of videogames, 10/10 story, iconic characters, and a fantastic online mode 4v4 stealth combat that really emphasized teamwork and strategy.. we will never get that complete of a package ever again it seems
Multiplayer was something that just came with the game. Now, after all the advancements in hardware and software that should make things a 1000 times easier, its like companies dont know how to make it anymore. It became a dreaded thing that makes or breaks a games and AAA studios struggle with.
Thing is no one of Faction fan want it any service live game to begin with. All we want it was Faction 2, multiplayer, but Sony of course it has made up its mind that this is the future of video games. Greed for money that's what games industry have become.
It's a shame the studios heads see only two choices: 10 Year Live Service or Nothing at all. I would've been just fine with a Multiplayer game with a 2-3 year planned life support (with an extension if it turned out to be a huge player base). Sadly they can't see the time and money commitment without it being this huge, Fortnite sized return.
The failure of Sony launching not 1 good multi-player game should be talked about more
As someone who didn't care about TLofU Online at all, heck as someone who lost all interest in any future TLofU games after the god-awful TLofU2, I won't lose any sleep over this announcement. Yo Naughty Dog, how about you just make a new Uncharted game or how about you bring back Jak & Daxter, remember them?
Lol i agree with you. Amazing how indifferent i became to this franchise
@@renansantos6533 I know right. I still love the first game & I'm really loving the TV Show as well although I'm dreading what might happen in Season #2 if a certain franchise-killing character shows up but other than that, I'm done with TLofU all thanks to that garbage sequel.
Yong Yea has an evil twin named Yong Naw, and he made a video complaing about Naughty Dog canceling thier live service game.
To be fair they don't have the time while remastering the remake or remaking the remaster, I forget what part of the cycle we're on right now.
Biggest disappointment to date....Ive played factions for a decade...buying a ps5 for it... Years of empty promises...fuck naughty dog
I don’t think ND are being truthful here. You don’t just stop working on a game because you accidentally made it too big after years of work. There’s nothing to stop them going “Ok this is getting way too ambitious, let’s dial it back and keep things simple.”
What I think happened was that they simply didn’t know what to do, as in they had some ideas, worked on them and they weren’t turning out how they expected. Obviously that’s not something they will admit but after hearing Bungies evaluation on it, I’m convinced they were just running into multiple dead ends with the project.
I think its more they expected to make/polish/ship a beefier Factions mode, maybe throw in a couple TV show skins after it released and then move on to their single player games
But then Jim Ryan called, and mandated it become one of the cornerstones of his "12 live services" push. They did what they could with the resources they had, realized what it would mean to their future dev plans and treaded water until Jim either cancelled it or quit
Naughty Dog are too pretentious. Hopefully, Sony remembers this when it's time to see what studios are pulling their weight and which ones are huffing their own farts.
Taking their statement at face value, I'm glad they're not going the sunk-cost fallacy path and refocusing these efforts towards single-player stuff. Also, I'm some tech advancements they've made can be brought forward, so it's not like the time these folks spent coding will be a complete wash.
Naughty Dog is in the mud. Neil Druckmann taking over was the absolute worst decision this company made.
So frustrating, playing factions was some of the most fun I've had playing a PVP game. They told us time and time again to give it time, that they're working on it- there was even leaked gameplay footage showing some systems that already worked, surely they made some substantial work since then, only to have it be nothing now. TLOU as an IP is selling so hot right now too, yet all they seem to want to do is release remasters and remakes. The fact that there were so many wishful suckers for The Day Before tells me there's a massive demand for a game like this, yet now I don't know if there will be a studio that will make the gameplay we've seen in Factions a reality in the modern game dev space. Such a shame.
There's a demand, but no good supplies.
Sony has 12 live service games in the pipeline. Well 11 now. They plan on releasing 6 by 2025. So this live service craze wasn't a decision by the studios that Sony owns, but rather Sony the publishing house. I couldn't care less about a single live service title. Their push into this market for the majority of the new IP or existing IP made me skip playstation this generation. Sony was known for great unique and new IP single player games and the last thing I wanted from the brand was more fortnight styled junk.
@@iwouldntlikemeeither the problem is that there was a continuation planned. You can still play it, absolutely, it still has a strong fan base, but those servers will shut down at some point, and the hardware it runs on is already outdated. I would have loved to see a current gen take on the gameplay formula- would love to see it come to PC. If you've ever played it you'll know how addictive it was.
Sony is a complete mess right now. "We're going to do 10 live service games". Bruh you can't even get 1 right in 4 years of development time. And I don't want to hear the Covid excuses.

Damn all we wanted was the original multiplayer. They charged full price for that remake without it and dangled the carrot by saying we would get something like it down the line
NaughtyDog realized that it might have made the game fun, and clearly, that's not what they were going for.
Wow the only good multiplayer idea they had got shut down. What a bunch of clowns at Sony
When YongYeah said Breaking News, he wasn't kidding. The news literally broke and shattered dreams and hopes of multiple players across the globe.
I wanted a story DLC, something to add more layers on the world
What the heck is going on with Naughty Dog nowadays, their internal leadership seriously needs to get their priorities straight
Pretty sure the people waiting for this game were gonna end up being dissapointed anyway. This was for the best.
Dead and cancel is what they should do to ur yakuza dub
That’s good to know, maybe now PlayStation can push Bungie to turn Killzone into an amazing single player experience with a Live service multiplayer, you know… there exclusive FPS, that was designed to compete with Call of Duty and Halo, which would have been a benefit seeing how that’s Bungie expertise…
Killzone was not developed by bungie. It's guerilla games, and I doubt they'll even make another killzone.
Heh, kinda funny to think about Bungie making a new Killzone game when it was originally made to kill Halo
Killzone has so much potential and they just aren't doing anything with it makes zero sense to me
They wanted live service to coexist with factions and didn’t turn out too well. What a joke.
I'm playing the stubborn asshole here and saying I'm frustrated, no matter what. I don't care if it's a good thing for ND to focus on single player games more (which I do think is a good thing), I don't care if it was obvious that it would be cancelled based on how long it's been since it's announcement, I don't care whether it was just Factions 2 or some live-service game: I'm just pissed. Stuff like this motivates me to try and learn how to make Gmod games so I can make my own Factions MP.
This is dumb. Bad execs and bad managers. The people in charge of making games are not the people that should be and the industry needs to unfuck itself. This continued sympathy for the devs is ridiculous. They are adults. They are responsible for their own choices. And they chose to work for scumbags. And then type up BS statements like it was clear our ambition would require x and we cannot do x. If you make games that make billions, there is no excuse for you to not do the work required to ensure you know what it is going to take to make something you and so many others have made many many times before.
Hopefully this will resonate through to publishers. Single player or story driven campaign games stand strong!
ND has been dead for a long time, since Drunkman was put in charge
He shooed away all the ogs and talent that made their games great.
They have a terrible employee retention.
So is not surprising this project never materialized.
finally, some good news, ill never understand why game devs and pubs love "live service" games, especially after anthem.
Because looking at games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Diablo Immortal.. The revenue numbers look much much nicer than single player games.
Almost all the failed ones, failed because they didn't design a continuous update/development roadmap for years - single-player games never needed them.
@@zackang4731 "Immortals" success is because of kiddos who think that they like Diablo shits
Oh c'mon.. stop saying "i don't understand", just freakin' look at the revenue from the succesful live service games out there, they racking up MASSIVE income. Don't look at the flopped ones, look at the succeful ones. I'm not saying they should make live service games, I too, much prefer a single player experience, but stop being ignorant.
@@ricardohoang8452 ...and the Chinese.
You do know Anthem was just one failure right? By your logic game developers shouldn't do anything but make the same exact game over and over
Naughty Dog is the laziest AAA game developer in the world at this point.
Such a shame. They’re making absolutely insane amounts of income from the games and the show. Now we get another season of a show and… a remaster of part 2? What? Gaming is so weird nowadays
ND would've had to commit the full studio in the long term with the TLoUO live service. Meaning any future singleplayer games would've been put on indefinite hold, ESPECIALLY if the game became a financial success.
Idk, I think Factions 2 would've been enough and them just working on a new IP instead of another TLoU title. I really don't need to see ANOTHER live service game.
They just needed to make Factions 2.... I don't know why they made it so difficult on themselves. It's not that hard...
LOU online is super underrated. If you didn’t have the opportunity to play the online portion of LOU on ps3 or LOU ps4 you missed out. That shit was other worldly.
They're too focused on remastering 3 year old games
The graphics of part 2; amazing.
The story of part 2; aids.
Accurate. Gameplay was good too in my opinion.
@@WH250398 fair enough. And i guess if you like golfing games, there is, ow wait no. That was a cutscene. Wich most of this game actually is. Cutscenes.
@@pablieto-veganson I played the first half of the game, and skipped them all lmao
I didn't know this was a thing. Had I, I would've been among the majority of people who assumed it would fail.
They had no intention of completing this game. It's easier to remaster part 1 and 2 ten thousand more times. PS20 will have the Part 1&2 Re-re-re-re-re-re-re ( aw screw it, U get the point) master. Lmfao 😂
What a waste of time. Naughty Dog shouldn’t have even bothered. No one is looking to you for multiplayer live services games ANYWAY!!
Should’ve focused your resources on doing what you do best. SINGLE PLAYER NARRATIVES!!
And now because of all this wasted time and resources TLOU3 is 5 years away 😂 and will probably be trash too
I agree with possibly still adding a smaller scale online mode like the 1st game
Know what would be good if it also got canceled? Kiryu's new english voice actor contract
Yes when you put it that way it’s for the best. It still sucks they couldn’t just port part 1 multiplayer into ps5 which would have been enough
Wonder how long it will take for Suicide Squad to shut down after its live service launch. 😂
I'll give it three months. And then they'll announce that they will keep it up on maintenance mode until the end of next year when they'll finally shut the servers down
Wow, I'm so done with naughty dog. After years of waiting and promises. F this company and their emotional cut scene filled story games.
Most heart breaking news this year as far as video games go.
Oh no.....anyway
