Reporting for duty, sir!
Always a good day when wendigoon uploads 😁
I feel bad for Washington. In the original Cherry Tree story, he’s only a child. That means the horned serpent form must have only had the emotional maturity of a child.
I honestly wonder if he’s still sentient or aware as the horned serpent. Like would it be possible to communicate?

A friend of mine is in NYC and I got uneasy looking at her pic of the statue of liberty in her story. My mind just immediately went "smell of raw flesh" and "they need to feed the statue". Then today, I walked by a massive statue of a woman in my city that's similar to Freedom and I kept anxiously staring at her to make sure she wouldn't move. The Monument Mythos did the damage for me.😂

I like to think that Wendigoon never actually erases anything from the whiteboards and just gets new ones instead. Somewhere out there is a storage room full of potentially hundreds of this man's conspiracy whiteboards.

Got to say, I laughed out loud when you mentioned that the community voted not to punish James Dean despite the evil he displayed, and how they were yelled at for their loyalty to a foul character. Isn't that just a brilliantly ironic reflection of real life?
It's like Alex was kinda pissed he had to write an alternate script 😂
I do wonder what he had in store for ol' Jimmy in the event he was chosen to be "punished"
@@kikrinman1450what a mystery
the first cornerfolk video is also an example of humans getting hurt by meddling in things they shouldn't. The cornerfolk weren't hostile, they didn't cause any harm. They just relaxed in the corners of his home when he weren't there, or jumped quickly through corners when he was. It wasn't until he decided to go into the cornerworld then he got hurt. The cornerfolk and the cornerworld aren't evil, they just exist, and the cornerworld wasn't suited for a human so he got hurt.
Maybe in the corrnerfolk videos he didn't delete lol I did not get the same impression with the original Corrnerfolk series but he may have changed the lore

my theory about everett is that when virginia saw him the first time, he wasnt actually a grown man and was rather the middle stage between a stretched baby and a fully fleshed out tree man, he was actually just a young boy that had been stretched out to appear taller and to a young girl she couldnt tell the difference between an inhumanly tall young child and a grown man

Just a quick point that it appears that the tree in the animation of Washington is an apple tree, not a cherry tree. Literally everywhere I go I’m followed by TF2 and I’m not even complaining LMAO
Alex's channel sharing a name with the constellation of good people who literally smile down on the world that they changed for the better feels very profound, knowing how his father became a big influence in the direction of the story.

"No one's ever _really_ gone."
To the whole "everyone's dumb for liking James Dean" thing:
If grief makes monsters, then charisma makes slaves
It's so easy from the outside to look at this and be like "that would never be me!" but for the people actually living through it, it's not obvious at all - and probably feels rational and morally correct to support him. Just like real life politicians
I don't like Dean, lmao
Yeah. Real smart, aren't u 🧠

"We know the Horned Serpent is George Washington so, THAT doesn't make sense."
This moment sent me into a near-fatal laughing fit. My word, after all the absurdist goings-on created by Alex, the fact that George Washington being an eldritch God-Serpent morphed by unknowable cosmic forces because he tried to cut down a friggin' cherry tree is the sensible part of all this reaaaaally says something about the Monument Mythos experience.

As someone who lost my father and loves him so much, you describing the journey of “The House in The Middle of The Ocean” made me cry, that’s so sweet and beautiful and such a true sentiment. I love that.
Imeadiately when you started describing the cornerfolk I was reminded of a short story written and published in the early 1900s by Frank Belknap Long called "Hounds of Tindalos" essentially (if I remember corectly) one of the main characters friends attempts to enter/peer into a sort of negative or unclean reality that exists seperate to ours, and when he does, these, indescribable eldritch creatures described as hounds sense him and catch his sent. These beings will relentlessly hunt those they mark, and they can cross from the unclean reality and into ours through corners or angles of any kind. So, this unfortunate fellow, rightfully believing hes being hunted (though appearing mad to everyone else) starts plastering up his entire room to try and make the interior completely sphereical. Probably not related but I just thought it was a cool comparison

My theory is that time is relative in Wonderland. Since the kids in the beginning of Virgina's story touched the tree at the same time, the lives that were traded were equal, so both kids crossed over without consequences. And when Virginia was older, both her and her other self touched the tree, but the clone wasn't pregnant. So the trade wasn't equal, meaning Everett was lost in Wonderland, with no life to be traded for his. The same could be said for Washington, who chopped at the tree, but it's possible his other self didn't, meaning he was lost in Wonderland, with nothing to trade
I feel like this helps explain a lot of things more consistently, thank you!!
Time doesn't exist in Wonderland; Alex talked about it in the Q&As.
@@MHF013time is relative, time doesn’t exist, what’s the difference, really?
geto pfp!
@@MHF013 That also makes sense. I assumed everything in Wonderland was happening super slowly compared to the real world. But there being no time at all also works
I just realized something: most of these beings may be powerful, mysterious and larger than life, but at the end of the day, they are still human at heart. They are all cursed with a painful/exhausting existence, some of which even have emotional struggles (the Last Son's arc for example), and I think this makes these characters wayy more personal than we give credit for. Just imagining what it's like to have to sacrifice yourself for the sake of _the entire planet_ or to get your existence infinitely stretched... these may never be relatable situations to me, but showing real/personable people go through all that not only heightens my investment for the series as a whole, but to properly give me the full picture of everyone's agony in this series. Lots of absurd pieces of media could never get me to contemplate for the ultimate lifeforms and the impossible as much as this series. It makes stuff like the ending, the "grief can make you a monster" quote and the themes of unity with family scattered throughout so impactful, more than if you just look at the goofy ahh entities and go "wow"

Quite possibly my most anticipated UA-cam video ever. I have been DYING for a breakdown of the last season.
on goodness
Samee
Definitely mine as well.
real
The wait has been agonizing!!!!
A couple theories I have (I am not a part of the community, new to this series as of yesterday):
Washington Wanderer is Virginia. The caption at the beginning of S3 “A new song began on February 22”. The Washington Monument tree plays music. Everett mentions Virginia‘s copy singing to him in wonderland. She also points to the special tree in Everett’s story and the Wanderer is pointing down to the special tree in the Monument.
Cthonaut A is Alex (effectively “God” of the story as its author)
Cthonaut C is possibly a representation of his (Alex’s) dad. He becomes a father figure to Everett and eventually dies.
I watched this whole video (and most of the FAITH: the unholy trinity video) in pretty much one sitting and now I can’t wait to watch the original video series, thanks wendigoon for your great storytelling and for introducing us to another incredible creator. Hats off to Mr. Manticore for his lifelong dedication to some of the most unique storytelling and universe building that I’ve ever seen; a mix of conspiracy, absurdity and cosmic horror with some beautiful personal touches that gets under your skin and sticks with you. While watching this video something was knocked loose in my memories and I remembered the name of a cosmic horror book trilogy that has haunted me since I was very young: the silver sequence (silver child, silver city and silver world) by British author Cliff McNish. The scene of the martian horned serpent barreling through space towards earth that can only stopped by tragic figures that have been mutated by forces beyond their comprehension particularly reminds me of this series and I wonder if the author took inspiration from it. I can find almost no content about these books online and I sometimes feel like I’m the only one who’s ever heard of them but they made an impact on me like this video has and made me love cosmic horror. Has anyone else read these books or made this connection?
I already nearly cried at Virginia's story, with her losing Everett. I nearly cried at Cthonaut C's story, with him also losing Everett, funnily enough. But the lines at the end, "What are you made of?" "Good people." finally got the water works going for me
I absolutely lost it at "Together"
I lost it at "Good people" that hit me hard XD, started getting teared eyed inmediatly
I love the trend of alliteration that Alex does. Giza Glass, Lincoln Looker, Washington Wanderer, Golden Gate Girl, Airforce1 Angel.... it's so satisfying
It really is
DEANDEVIL
Yes! Comic books do that a lot too with peoples' names. Not all of them, but a lot of alter-egos and supporting character have alliterative names. I'm sure Alex is a comic fan to some degree based on the images he uses for some of the characters in his series.
Liberty Liars
the ending made me tear up. everybody fusing together.. saving the world. it was really beautiful
"Is everything okay at home"
Amazing. And yes actually. Just love a good breakdown of awesome stories by someone who matches the energy my best friends bring to the table
Your teaching skills as a Sunday school teacher really shine with how you present these abstract stories in such a constructive way
100%. Dude was born for this.
You really wouldn’t think there’s much overlap between being a Sunday school teacher and a horror UA-camr, but I can see it.
everything is structured so well, I don’t think I could reexplain this in a compressive way lol

I’d like to imagine that that only the Us is apocalyptic. Like the rest of the world is looking at the Us like ‘are they ok? Should we help them?’ ‘no no they’re fine, I think’
Every other country somehow floating through space and time after washington comes out of his shell: *Come on!! This is the 5th time this month you get into another apocalyptic disaster!!! Turn it down already!!*
Looking at them like "Wat dey doin ova dere?"
the suez canal crab is an entire video, the apocalyptic shit is worldwide
You say that like it isn't how the rest of the world already look at the us

The Ed Dwight arc is actually incredibly meaningful, very close to my heart as a stoyteller
As someone who lost someone vary dear to my heart who I use to watch this series and your videos with this video made me cry tears of sadness and joy. For my husband, "I will always think of you." May 30, 1993 - July 31, 2023
"Grief is just love with no where to go"
but Alex put his love into this series and therefore received love. It's just a small part of healing because filling the spot a loved one left empty is impossible. But he re-directed the adoration for his father and made something wonderful which in turn gave many of us joy. Even if we only consume it through Wendi and his passion for MM.
His father's love keeps on giving.
"Good People" hit me like a freight train and I have no clue why, thus series never seemed to emotionally hook me like others did until that moment
Made me tear up man. Didn’t need that. Such an amazing series. I cannot wait for more.
Never would I have thought when starting a series I assumed was some Lovecraftian horror series on UA-cam, would I have thought I would be sobbing at the beautiful messages Alex was able to create about his father and grief, and the ending with union. Seriously, amazing writing by Alex.
I just found out through the official wiki that there’s a ninth member of the Arnoldson family (assuming you count Leonard). His name was Allan D. Arnoldson. He was born in1893 and attended the University of Florida. He was among the seventeen American soldiers who perished in Operation Pyramid Plasma and became the Angel.
He and his 16 comrades were only mentioned by name in Version 2 of the deleted episode “PYRAMIDPLASMA”.
I can't believe Wendi didn't talk about the hand-drawn penis in MUSKMARS. Truely the greatest moment of the series.

Dude that fucking "Good people" line genuinely made me cry, it has a sort of bittersweet feeling that FNAF had when you realize the souls just wanted to be free but couldn't. So in order to spare people from the suffering they had, they sacrificed themselves to save the lives of many. Alex is someone that many writers should look to as a role model and I know his father would definitely be proud of this.
Me too I teared up and I felt like it was even saying it’s okay to say goodbye
Imagine we disappear from existence and the only thing the aliens find about us is this series.
The aliens: HOLY F&$@ I FEEL BAD THAT THESE DUDES HAD TO DEAL WITH A LITERAL MOON GOD F&@$ING THEM IN EVERY FORM POSSIBLE!
The fact that Alex made all the other stuff as a result of the support he got is amazing. It's lovely to see x
Alex doing it for his father (who he passed away) and made Richard Nixon a Doctor Manhattan-like character is just god-tier in storytelling. I hope his father knows that his work will be remembered by everyone who got invested in Monument Mythos. I guess I can’t wait for Season 4, so take your time. *Thanks for everything*
there will be no season 4. season 3 literally had the most perfect ending. every loose end was tied up
@@thatonelad3315Alex confirmed in a community post ages ago that there are plans for a season 4, but that whether it happens or not is dependent on the reception of season 3. Personally, I loved it, loads of fun and so much cool new stuff.
Wanted to keep scrolling to see if literally anyone would mention that based on the image alone of Nixon sitting on the Moon, it is at least in part a Watchmen reference as Nixon is the president for life in that and the most famous meme image is Dr Manhattan sitting on Mars
I haven't finished the episode yet, but I just realized that in Virginia's story, she talked about how the people who tried to climb the Special Trees just before they flash end up *stretched across the Trees.* What if the reason why George Washington ended up transforming is that instead of normally moving around Wonderland he tried to climb a Special Tree, got stretched across the Trees, and by the time he got out of Wonderland he ended up The Horned Serpent? Virginia said it felt like 500 years to her, and she saw him (or at least people suffering the same fate), so he probably had plenty of time to stretch that much.
Yep thats what happened to old georgey
Yes that is the story
I truly did love the way the three big characters went out its a rare and heartwarming sight in analog horror
i had never heard of this series before and only just started watching wendigoon. let me tell you, that was the most outlandish and wild video i have ever seen. mad respect to the guy who even started the series, the creativity is awe-inducing. just the idea that this was something someone came up with in their head and then made a whole series about, and then some guy on the internet makes a whole analysis on it, is crazy. super cool !
The words 'good people' really broke me.
I hope in some way somehow Virginia got to see her son do something incredible.
If the Washington Wanderer is Virginia then maybe I guess?
But the question is are they still psychologically present or is it just their biomaterial that was used to mutate good Ole George? If it's the latter, she definitely saw it with her son by her side.
Analog horror with a good ending? That's super rare
I’ve been binging your videos on this series while crocheting, and plan to watch all of Alex’s videos. I love it, this type of storytelling is so in-depth and interesting, I love the ties you’d never expect, and the details that seem so small turning out to be huge points in the story
I remember when The House On The Ocean disappeared from his channel. I was sad to see it gone but that one line about it being in our mind hit me like a truck. Didn’t realize that was the intention until now. That’s incredible.
I always get a deeper appreciation for these ARG or Unfiction projects after listening to someone else do passionate deep dives into them.
I know - I can't seem to wrap my head around these unless someone lays it out in front of me, foremost, but afterwards I can appreciate these authors and artists so much more.
"What are you made of?"
"Good People."
Man.. How tf is this series making me cry so damn hard
Its so absurdist but I love it so damn much
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who teared up a bit at that
how is it absurdist😭
@@puntana
"Absurdism - intentionally ridiculous or bizarre behaviour or character."
because a president of the united states going into an inbetween realm with "special trees" and becoming a goliath monster that hatches inside of the earth or a president becoming essentially god after surviving the eternal collapse of the universe is 100% realistic and not intentionally ridiculous or bizarre XD
@@DecoyZ thought you meant absurdism as in the ideology, mb
The story of Alex’s father is really moving and I’m glad he has shared that information. My dad died in 2016 when I was in my early 20s. Missing him never stopped, and I hated the erosion of time on my memories and feeling like they were grains of sand that slipped through my fingers no matter how hard I tried to hold on. And then my son was born. He shares several physical attributes of my dad like a cleft chin, but also constantly moves his feet and rubs them together like a cricket as a self-soothing technique, something my dad did all the time.
He truly isn’t gone, pieces of him live on through my son. It gives me great comfort.

This series has me in a permanent state of "wow holy shit thats cool" and "wow that so fucking stupid" I cant decide if im im more impressed or more baffled by the things happening in this universe
same here.
Same, a lot of things I thought were really while a lot of things I thought were extremely stupid
Just realized that the Monument Mythos literally ends with them saving the universe using the power of friendship.
oh god they litteraly destroy an orb (it make's an orb shape kinda) this is the 3rd time this has happened.
The House in the Ocean legit made me cry. That “no one is gone forever” at the end really hit me hard. I don’t think I will ever watch a better more creative commentary on losing someone. I know it must have been a hard choice for Alex, but I am so grateful that he ended up uploading it again.
Also, I have been to the real Alice Avenue statue! It is actually the Lois Lane statue in Metroplis, IL!
Why did he take it down?
Ah he just described it around 1:10:00
idk, the girl I knew in college that died in a car accident is still gone; and my memory of her keeps fading as time goes on
@@pyropulseIXXI that’s the whole reason Alex took it down in the first place. You can watch around 1:10:00 again for an explanation of why he did stuff the way he did and even why he decided to put it back up. There’s a tumblr post somewhere about us being an amalgamation of all the people we have known in our life. I still write like a girl I knew in elementary school even though I haven’t seen her in 20 years. Pieces of people live on in us and I believe that’s what Alex’s message was supposed to be. It’s okay if you don’t feel like that though.

The entire Monument Mythos theorizing history summed up is

I got such a strange feeling when Wendigoon spoke about Alex’s father (I hope he rests in peace). Specifically to when Alex decided to remove the House in the Ocean series and Wendigoon expresses that the thing you loved just isn’t there anymore to interact with, only a memory. And myself who hasn’t seen the series and hearing that something existed without knowing that it did evoked a weird feeling in my heart that’s hard to express because it reminded me of my own father who I’ve never met. In a weird way it is kinda moving tho and now I definitely want to watch that series
