If you enjoyed the video, please like, share, and subscribe! I'm planning on releasing more comparison content, covering regions, cities, combat, and animations. And I would be very happy for any feedback on this video, so I can improve the next! Thank you!
This is awesome! I would be curious to see more of these, such as the shire after all the michel delving and festival even updates, and angmar to blend in with gundabad, and the updated bree town. Anyways, amazing video!
I like that they kept real with the original game, the graphic is awesome yet still vintage looking and that's a plus about this game and the play through, nostalgia is a strong feelin❤
I had no idea about Echoes of Angmar. This is exactly what I had hoped the legendary server would be - a recreation of the vanilla game in its entirety, similar to what WoW Classic is.
wow thanks for sharing. Can't believe the amount of progress they've made over the years. It's hard to tell when you're in the game every day, but looking back it's impressive. dropped a like.
No release date as of now, I suggest you join the EOA Discord to keep up with the news. Or keep an eye on the website. Details can be found in the video description.
To be honest, I think the most charme Lotro got back then was from its natural beauty. The new look mostly adds color, wich turns out bad in my opinion. Best examples are shown in this video: -Trees in Ered Luin, once blossomed mysteriously under the stars, have become a pink, bright, eyesoring nightmare. - min. 1:49 really got me laughing, because it looks like someone run the area through a bad "western movie" filter, with everything tinted yellowish. Dont even get me started about the blue sky turned into depressing grey. - Overall, grass looks nicer now, with details etc. but why is it never just green? There always has to be some pink/violett/yellow flower stuff stressing the atmosphere. Same colorful strategies are often used in modern games nowadays. We had enough wokeness, please go back to your former glory roots Lotro!
This is why I hate it when all the Debbie Downers complain that the LOTRO folks never give the older regions the improvements that they want to see. The game has improved considerably over the years. It's an old engine, but they've gotten a lot out of it. Personally, I look at it as a style choice, at this point, like WoW's more cartoony style.. I love it. If it was updated to a new engine with 2024 graphics, it would lose some of its charm. Though, I'd play both. :)
I've got to admit, I believe the graphics in the old version overall look better. Sure, retail has added a bunch of frills to the ground, but aside from that, the old style just seems more appealing. There's also this odd texture issue on the ground in retail that doesn't seamlessly blend in.. For example, set to full screen and resolution, then look at the comparison at: 1:48 The road furthest away has these messed up textures.
EoA >>>>>>> retail lotro. Graphics ok, might be better in retail although for me its a bit over the top and I also enjoy the graphics back in the day. And way more important, literaly any other aspects are better in EoA imho (except for some qol of life changes in few later books).

I love lotro so much. My one and only game since 2007 ❤ Thank you for sharing.

This was Awesome! Nice video! I am going to share it! :D
I remember The Greening of the Shire. I was there, 3000 years ago ...

Please do different regions!! Awesome video
LOVE IT! This game is an essential part of my life

Thats exactly what Echoes of Angmar is! I have played it during beta and its a lot of fun.
@@lotropug2320 is there an ETA?

Played ever since it's release. I honestly miss the original version. Those were the days.
We will soon be able to experience it again! For more information check the video description.
Dat sure is a massive amount of artwork updating. 👍👍 100⭐
I really like the more toned down, less poppy look of the classic version :/
I do too.
is the Emulator online and playable now?
No, beta just finished. I think they have some endgame testing left and after that will probably move into permanent beta. But this might take months.
@@osirys actually not sure if there will be another open beta. Closed beta still going on, but I think the last beta phase will remain closed.
Played EOA beta and it feels like heaven. Tactical and the balanced classes. Feels so good to have the original game back on track. ❤
Is it bad that I can't tell which is which...?
now i understand why i feel everything looks like shite today
Great Video, thx for that! Although i must admit that Live Lotro looks better in many areas, nothing can compete against the classic feeling with SoA
So when can we play it fully¿

honestly preferred the old. The new is too much low hanging foliage that makes you feel claustrophobic then too much contrast on the buildings.
and it often feels like you are running around on a cheap crafted RTS map. nearly all new zones feels like that.

I always remembered old lotro feeling drab and lifeless.
wish they made the hud and other things look and feel a bit more modern

With a lot of work, EOA could patch the updated landscape into the old client. But there are more important things to develop at the moment.

elves made stone walls in celondim
Cool now from a 2007 looking game it looks like 2008...
Such an improvement lol
Considering it looks like 10% better but runs 80% worse, i'll take SoA thanks
Can’t wait to play vanilla lotro again. Fine the only thing that is batter in retail is graphics but everything else nope
I'll always prefer the shadows of Angmar or Echoes of Angmar version over the over detailed laggy mess that is these servers are now
