Peter Green is not underrated at all. he is a legend. also when the screw coil is closer to the bridge on neck pickup ( your discription of out of phase ) doesn't mean the pickup is out of phase. a humbucker can only be magnetically or electronically out of phase, turning it around in its place doesn't make it out of phase.
by underrated he doesnt mean less of a guitar player..hes saying PG is not as famous as AY to a newer generation...your arguing that because your one of those that knows PG work
I enjoyed your introduction into the legendary PG sound. BTW, Danny Kirwan (who is also a wonderful guitarist) played the lead in Like It This Way. His sound was always a little brighter, thinner and faster, and he caked everything in vibrato.
Wise beyond your years which gives me hope.Vid sounds great. It seemed like PG ascribed to the BB playbook another way which he would control the dynamics using his guitar, especially live, though BB did this all the time,,,crank the amp and ride the guitars vol controls. Some live stuff like Shrine '69 had him switching the reverb off and on depending. btw, Nice Aria. I bought one of these CS250s in late '81 though mine was a little different. It had Zebra 'pups and the tone controls had a coil split function where rolling to center was HB then rolling further made the tone more Single coil. Yours seems pretty sweet. Much to my wifes dismay, i sold the CS so i could get a nice 335 type since i was going thru a Carlton thing. Dang Aria broke strings like crazy. That was the deal breaker, unfortunately.
Thanks g mat! The aria rarely breaks strings! I'm def a les paul guy but when I need that out of phase tone it just nails it. Thanks for the kind words.
Hi Brooks, thanks for another awesome instructional video on the great guitarists of our time. I'm curious why you didn't play your Les Paul for this, it would have sounded much more PG-y, imo. Would love to see you do a video on both lead and rhythm guitar parts of "Oh Well", a personal favorite of mine. Peter played the rhythm part when performing it, I've always been thrilled with both his and Danny Kirwan's guitar parts in this song, as well as the silence in the middle, cowbells....everything lol ;) thanks and rock on
Thanks! Well, Peter Green used a les paul with humbuckers that were wired out of phase. The Aria has all of that. My les paul has P90s which doesn't really sound like PG. As for "Oh Well" that may be a video to do in the future. Take care!
I know you are a few years older now, but how the fk did you get into Peter Green at such a young age? It is reassuring to know that todays younger people are listening to some of the good old music
the story is Peter felt he needed a Les Paul when he filled Clapton's spot in the BB'ers. He bought a used one at Selmers in London and took it back for a repair. When it came back the middle position sounded odd but he never had it reworked and it became his signature sound. Here's a link to an article that describes what this music store was all about. www.vintagehofner.co.uk/gallery/gallery3/gallery6/gallery7/shop.html enjoy!
Brooks Mason Yep. You can do it pretty easily yourself by screwing the pickup screws loose enough to push the magnet out and flip it around. My favourite sound!
Hi, I am old like Peter Green and it's great to hear someone young play like this. I love your blues licks great job. Thanks from Canada Michael Newell
Great video on PG, Eddie, and you sure can play the blues!
Davidmcfarlaneblues. Thanks!
Super nice playing, thanks for posting this, a treasure trove of lovely Peter Green licks.
Wooa Just fantastic playing especially to see a young guy into Peter Green

How many 15 year olds know about him like they do Angus Young? I would say, in most cases he is underrated.
Brooks Mason 15 year olds who don't play guitar maybe. Jeez
by underrated he doesnt mean less of a guitar player..hes saying PG is not as famous as AY to a newer generation...your arguing that because your one of those that knows PG work
Eddie 9V couldn’t agree more. I’m sure most people don’t know music 50 years before their time.
Great sound and playing.
You’ve got a nice touch on the guitar good work👍😎
Love the T shirt! Nice work, thanks for sharing lazy jammer.
Seems like you had some great influences growing up. Bloomfield and Green had a profound impact on me when I was young.
Wow Brooks sensational. A young guy, so talented, knowing about Peter as well as having that touch. Thanks. All the very best
Great stuff🙂👍
My favorite guitarist of all time, him and Danny Kirwan.
Indeed! Danny Kirwan is an underrated player!!
you nailed it Brooks

He used orange amps in the early days. Great playing lazy jammer always fun to check these vids out.
Very hip. Your channel is excellent.
Thank you so much!!!
Nice Job!
pups were not out of phase. the magnet in 1 pup was in backwards

@@Eddie9V Aria CS 250 and Eddie 9V = a perfect match
So too kinda sum it up in order to achieve his out of phase tone just roll the bridge volume a bit higher then neck in middle position?
Like It This Way is actually a Danny Kirwan song. You should do a tutorial on how to sound like Danny Kirwan.
What you say makes more sense than many of these 'so cool' You Tube dudes trying to explain these things about PG.
Thanks man! I try to give a different approach to guitar lessons! Take care.
Thanks Carl!

suzahna That couldn't sound more PG if it wanted to.Great sounding Aria Pro 2.Nice playing.
I know you are a few years older now, but how the fk did you get into Peter Green at such a young age? It is reassuring to know that todays younger people are listening to some of the good old music
I like the Blues
Nice lesson padawan, you did some homework... the rumor is neck PAF had the alnico bar in backwards
Really I never heard about that. It would explain a lot!

What pickups are you using in that guitar?
loved the tones from that aria, obviously your playing helps, nice touch
crabbtrixexp thank you!!
Man is that a Aria pro two ? I love those guitars .I dont like peter greens out of phase.or any out of phase A nice strat always sounds better,
You're nasty on the guitar. I enjoyed this video very much!
I don't understand guitar players that want to sound like someone else. Just play with your hands and your soul, that's all!
Wounded out of phase?
Peter Green is great, but they are B.B. licks. What came first, the egg or the chicken, lol.
Jean-Claude Arsenault Not only BB ,but Otis Rush also.
Make that stink, face, brother!
Peter Green underrated?
Lol oh boy
Jenny Gavin-Wear I literally said some people know him some people don’t lol
Brooks Mason right lol
In America, virtually no one under 40 years old has a clue who he is. I'd say that makes him underrated.
