My coworkers who don't want to get the vaccine because they aren't afraid of COVID should be the ones who have to go back to the office, since they aren't afraid of it.
HR and middle management have been working hard to justify their positions over the past year and a half. That's why there is such a push to get people back into the office.
Exactly. Managers that only manage other managers are being exposed for their uselessness. Middleage overweight white guys in my company have resorted to emailing novels about BLM and other race stuff to try to remain relevant.
@Michael Brown 100% THIS. if it's a middle manager who started from the bottom of the company i can respect and they'll have experience with that product. If it's some bogus MBA clown who has 0 idea of the product like these corporations keep hiring, they are absolute garbage waste of people/money.
@Sneed there's so much trash clown MBA's and "business" folks that are a waste of money. They are the ones who would lay off people at a successful company with no remorse to save company money even though ironically they should bey laying themselves off for being useless and driving many companies into a milking machine dedicated towards the short term to appease these problematic investors who are wowed by fake numbers and shiny things, not long term about building a better product and have the company create value, which is how a HEALTHY capitalist society should function. Instead these parasites increase profit for a company WITHOUT creating more value for customers, that is a company that is a parasite to HEALTHY capitalism.
@Sneed I understand what you are saying. The higher you go up the corporate ladder there are far less positions that are available. We have the CEO, in some instances co-CEO, etc. Everyone else now falls in the middle whether we like it or not. The promotions are far fewer by now. Sometimes you have to leave the company altogether in order just to get to the next phase in your career. Now those that are qualified or deserve to be in those positions is a whole different topic. That always leaves room for debate.
@Sneed That is so true. I have seen that myself. Nothing good comes out of it. There are some in upper management who feel they have free reign to do whatever they want. It seems that they are looking for any excuse not to give a bonus The problem now in this work environment much of the staff will be losing their jobs if they don't comply. At this stage, there won't be any middle management or lower tier staff.
I can only speak to my own experience, but as an employee I've made a habit of organizing these things within the employee base. "Oh, you're going to give us pizza? What do you think we eat every Friday? Try harder."
It's also insidious because it makes it seem like management is doing a nice thing for its employees, if there are any problems Management can characterize the whole argument as about ice cream, not workers rights...this is a hallmark of bad management.
omg I remember that in 2 grade my teacher was like if we got good grades on our test I remember I was so excited then the day of the ice cream party the teacher was like I can't do the icecream party im too poor to buy icecream but still thats crazy we are adults not children
I just got ice cream from the store down the road. I am proud to say I managed to accomplish what this HR department planned to do without lengthy meetings or team calls.

Earlier this year I asked my employer to make my work at home permanent. It was a one on one meeting and my boss is pretty laid back. I was told at the time to not tell other employees but that they were thinking about closing our physical location and having everyone work from home anyway. I wish more companies were understanding of their employees.
They're not understanding of their employees. It was because they wouldn't have to pay for rent, electricity, Internet, computers, software, etc. You would be paying for all of that, at your home. They thought that it's cheaper to not pay for all of that even if it means they can't control you all the time.
You would think they wouldbe eager to do it as a costs saving measure to increase profits. Smaller space means lower rent, lower utities, lower premises liability insurance. They'd save money on everything right down to tissues, toilet paper and hand soap.

"Why not let them work from home?" Businesses opened this Pandora's box and they're trying so hard to shut it...but they've already shown it works for a whole year.
Yup I'm sure it's partly because they are power hungry and desperate to tell people what to do. Plus let's be honest. Business and in office culture is often like a country club for the manager and exec types. When they even show up.
My Company said " If you moved during covid more than 50 miles away you will be allowed to work from home" I have always lived over 50 miles away. For the last 5 years every year I have tried to go remote and they always find some magical excuse why I get blown off. The company states " We value our work life balance" Yeah , only SOME people work life balance matters and not everybody. I have a family, young children and spending 60 hours a week commuting for 20 and getting paid for 40 seems ridiculous. I don't care about the culture. I want to be left alone - I don't feel safe down in Minneapolis either. So disappointed.
ID look up other ways to boost your immune system, and im sorry you have a family and kids that depend on you, thats the thing with having a family, you always have to look ahead to the future to see what might happen and also be prepared for things that might disrupt your finances, thats one lesson to learn about now.
In my experience, the more someone pushes an agenda the more suspicious you should be. That being said I would think any CEO would be happy not to have to pay the overhead involved with having more people in the office. And what the heck is this big obsession with pizza and ice cream? Give me gift cards, a raise, a car, something useful and tangible for the long term, not crap that isn't even good for you.
They want you dead and they hate the idea that you are human and could possibly obtain happiness. If you look at corporations everything they do is designed to kill you one way or another. Working or buying from them.
Most companies have building leases that are locked in... So they interpret not being able to save on overhead as a con (instead of the reality that it is net 0 either way). Essentially you have to go in to the office because the powers that be cant get over the sunk cost fallacy.
@@kristenlueken4023 to kinda add to what you were saying. Even tho it's rarer some owners typically if they're 2nd generation might actually own the land the building sits on and they pay themselves rent so closing the physical location would be a lose

It’s disturbing that an employer is prying into people’s medical history demanding explanations for why some are not vaccinated. It’s none of his goddamn business.
I know! Lack of privacy. What else will they do with your medical history/records? HR: “Kevin, you missed your 5th booster shot and flu shot from 2019. You have 7 days to get all shots needed to work here.” This 👆is coming soon.
If you need to bribe people so they get a vaccine for a new deadly disease you got a problem as a society. It's also a symptom of that problem when asking to get people back to the office and using the vaccine to emotionally blackmail into compliance while bribing with ice cream. Besides, vaccinated people can still transmit the disease so, yeah, let them work home.
Listen, the issue is not that the CEO is asking his employees to be vaccinated (he should and as should every other employer in the world), the problem is with the way he is handling it and his refusal to let the employees work from home. Please don't bring your anti-vaxx rhetoric here.
You definitely don't ever want to go to HR to complain. I worked somewhere years ago where a co-worker complained to HR that his boss was vaping during multi-hour meetings. Less than a month after that, he was let go as part of a "Reduction in Force".
I complain to HR all the time, to the point where I am 100% sure they've told managers to not talk to me unless absolutely necessary. There are mask requirements in the office and I dont follow them. Nobody says anything, not even my manager.

Synovus Financial, a company out of Georgia, did pretty much the same thing to my wife. They had everyone working from home. I've heard the claim that it's because productivity of people working from home is lower. Idk if that's true or not just what I've heard. If that is why then that would explain it. If productivity was the same then companies would let everyone work from home to save money
@sorejack I'm just saying everything a company does is usually about money and since technically it would cost the company more to have offices instead of just allowing employees to work remote they must think employees will be more productive at the office instead of remote. This is why you don't have any loyalty to these places, because at the end of the day your life doesn't matter. Just how much money you can bring in, and how much control they can lord over you.
Working at the office instead of at home isn't a life risking thing anymore than going to the grocery store or a restaurant is. People want to work from home because its far easier, less stressful, and more productive because people are focused on their job instead of working their way into office cliches and trying to make it like high school.
Working from home is safer. The duration of potential contact with someone that has COVID and contracting it is far less doing groceries than at work. I am not at the supermarket for 8+ hours a day, 5 days a week. For everyone to have this exposer (grocery, laundry, etc.) and be forced to sit in a closed office for 8+ hours/day is definitely going increase the chances of spreading the virus if someone did get it…. Just saying - the justification is still there.
@@realJohnJohn not really. You take the same 3500lb hunk of rapidly moving steel to run errands and transport people as you do to the office. Where you go doesn't matter for risk unless you're going to a hospital. There's more people at restaurants and grocery stores on a per square foot basis than there will ever be at the office.
@@ethanswimmer1287 I am a genius, thank you. My point isn’t that the amount of people that you are exposed to is smaller in those public areas. It’s how long you actually stay in those areas. You are not going to go to the grocery store every day. So your point of contact is limited to that instance. If you go to the office, you are continually forcing a point of contact every day - which increases your chances of getting the virus. Meaning that if you did end up contracting the virus, you are exposing more people to the virus due to the additional point of contact. This includes forcing people to return to office locations when it’s not necessary. Again, the concern is valid. Edit: also it’s meet - not meat…. Genius
On one hand i agree with those reasons working remotely is better, on the other, it may or may not be "more" risk but point is it's "unnecessary" risk. Plus in a world where grocery delivery services exist, that may be a moot argument regardless
In my country, you are required to present a medical certificate ONLY AFTER you've been hired! The reason for that being is so that the employee can't falsely sue the employer for incurring any disabilities or medical conditions because of the work environment and the opposite - so that the employee can prove that they did not have any of the underling medical conditions they are suing the company for being responsible before starting to work for them! Basically, it's in place in order to protect both the employee and the employer, and it's required by law to be presented right after you've signed the contract, but not before!
This CEO is a piece of work. Since he clearly doesn't care about his employees wellbeing, it'd be nice to see what he'll do if the entire back-office refuses to work for 2 weeks.
Out of curiosity, if you contract some breakthrough varient of the virus from a coworker despite being vaccinated; and your employer had forced you to work on site; would that be considered an "on the job injury". I imagine right now there's some law firm somewhere out there, just waiting for the right big enough outbreak so they can launch their massive class action suit.
Hope that CEO watches your video and feels like crap knowing everyone outside of his personal power tripping environment he enforces at work thinks he's a womble
This is why employees in the modern day need to organize, and whether that means forming a union or just demanding, on a department or company wide level, that you get results, it needs to be done.
My former CEO insisted that we "trust the science." Every week (he bought our old company) he would get up there and spout his rhetoric at us. He would shame people for having questions, having concerns. He would shame people for not wearing masks, or getting vaccinated, or not vaccinated enough, or not liking the weekly tests (or thinking they were stupid and not accurate given that at the end they were take-home tests). And yet all the stuff he spouted was incorrect. All of it. The mask efficacy, the vaccine efficacy, the danger of the disease, who it affects, how it affects them. We worked in an environment (a shop) where all of us were at least 8 feet apart all day long. Often more than that. We all wore respirators as a general rule anyway (carbon fiber dust was in the air), and we all socially isolated during breaks. But none of it was enough for this yahoo. We all had to do as he said, not as the science dictated. As I've said before, it's about ego and control. Nothing else.
N95 masks are very effective. I have never become sick while wearing an N95, including being in the room with people who tested positive for covid. The science always dictated that vaccines and masks are effective. Your Roe Jogan podcast guest is not "science."
I’m not a lawyer but wouldn’t this be a HIPPA violation? I didn’t think employers could request this kind of information because this kind of information can be abused. I guess if it’s voluntary, but this seems like a privacy suit waiting to happen.
That's why they use 3rd parties like sedgwick to handle leaves but sedgwick makes you to submit the information to them and then inform the company if they believe the leave is valid or not
For the way things have turned out, things we ALREADY knew at the time but it was pretended we didn’t… these CEOs that tried to force a medical procedure on their employees should be in jail
If there's no need to be in an office, and you've been remote the past year and a half, then quit any job requiring you be in the office. We've seen that remote work works. So many people prefer that. Find a remote job. Many places are these days. Your other options are to organize your co workers together and refuse to work in the office. The executives cannot afford to cut everyone off. If you're really dedicated, organize so that if the boss fires any worker for working from home, you all quit. The other option is to start your own business. Find something you enjoy and build a business that fits with your schedule. Those don't all guarantee results, and building a business doesn't mean necessarily fewer hours. People have been rethinking the way they work. I think if some executives think they're special because they run a company, and you guys hate it there. Leave for something that is more fulfilling. Tons of people are doing it these days (called the Great Resignation). People are tired of these executives. These are people that all enjoy working and work hard without wanting to be babysat and follow stupid rules that so many managers don't actually understand
The reason most companies are doing this is a matter of exploit, cost cut, and profits. Think of it this way, if I can make it so that work from home makes it so that I am allowed to cut your wages, that's so dam good. In fact, that's what my company did to us. Because we were forced to work from home, and all the sudden low job availability, my company cut everyone's salary because we aren't being productive. Why? Because they can. We were still as productive as we've always have been. In fact, even more so now.
Big fan of the channel man. It’s nice to see there’s someone close in age that has the same opinions and outlooks on the things you’ve talked about. I own an ice cream truck business, I’ve been running it for about 2 years now and you’d be amazed at how many companies have reached out to me to do “employee appreciation events” at their major corporations. These aren’t just mom and pop shops or little businesses. I’m talking absolutely massive companies that will have me come out and serve their employees. They won’t hesitate to pay whatever the total comes out to. There’s been times I’ve calculated the numbers and think there’s no way they’d pay what I’m charging but they don’t care because it’s way less than actually giving everyone a raise or pto vacation. I obviously don’t turn down the business but it feels ridiculous going to these companies with a bunch of grown ass adults. It’s nice being on the other side man. No lie. One thing I do, is make a mental note of what companies are having me come out and do this so if I ever end up needing a job in the future I can avoid these businesses like the plague.
Josh, best to tell those folks to warm up their resumes and jump ship now. Been through this before, under different circumstances, and it is just an exercise to identify to lay people off. Those that have interacted with HR are already branded.
So I used to work for them.... they care more about management because they expect them to work 50+ hours a week on a 40 hour salary.... soo they don't have to pay overtime... so if management is sick they will miss out on all this free work...
That is insane, regarding sick leave. Here in Ireland we have a right to take annual leave days when not sick. Meaning that if I, for instance, break a leg in a skiiing accident while on leave, the annual leave stops and sick leave starts.... and I can take the unspent annual leave later in the year. I know someone who experienced this exact scenario
My ex-employer made us all sign a vaccine status paper. Then there was a policy put forth that said something like this, "People with vaccines and who get covid will be able to take sick leave and vacation. People without the vaccination cannot take vacation or sick leave." It was pretty messed up.
The persuasion of this CEO to get his employees to get the jab is unreal and it's not because he cares. It's because of tax break incentives. If I were those employees, they should present a liability letter for the employer to sign. I got the template if anyone needs it.

There are multiple reasons why they don't like people working at home and it has nothing to do with productivity. These CEOs who care more about lower level employees being "at the office" more than their actual output reminds me a lot of those teachers who go to university and get their masters and become a high level teacher at a school and end up caring more about what the students are wearing at school than their education.
So the employees should have a teams meeting and include the CEO, with everyone enjoying their fave ice cream within the comforts of their own home...while working!!! I love it! But seriously, him inquiring about why some have CHOSEN not to getthe vaccine is none of his business and is totally out of line.
Had to watch a training video about corporate expensing various things. The video shows an example of 2 people going to a restaurant after a "very successful business meeting with clients". The two employees discuss which restaurant to choose from a list, employee A suggests the 4 star restaurant $$$$, employee B suggests the 3 star restaurant $$$ and even says because it's a more reasonable price. The video then quizzes me and asks which of them made the right choice. I choose B because obviously the company is cheap. I was wrong. It was a trick question, instead, a third location on the restaurant list, a little snack shack with 2 stars and only 1 $ symbol was the "right" choice. So basically, after closing this multimillion dollar deal, go get yourself a gas station burrito and a 99 cent iced tea. Because fuck you that's why. It shocks me that anyone could be fool enough to feel a sense of loyalty to organizations like this.
This is 100% about control and poor leadership, as someone who has held the role of a COO you must trust your employees. The workplace has forever changed, as a leader you either adapt or risk losing your talent.
This reminded me of a case that happened in my country: a company had their call center employees working in the office (wouldn't allow them to work from home), and they specifically told them that if they told anyone or called a doctor if they caught the virus, they'd be fired. Never forget: wether they treat their employees righr or wrong, a company's goal is ALWAYS to make money. By any means.
I suppose health insurance premiums could be part of the motivation, but honestly I think this guy wants to use 70% as a benchmark to force everyone to come back to the office. This way he can’t be sued if there’s a Covid outbreak because he’ll just say they were following CDC guidelines of some form or another
Josh is awesome! He's the voice of the worker who can't use their own voice. Keep up the good work and humiliating these idiot CEOs, because they deserve it. If workers would, en masse, just say "fuck you" to the corporate masters and their ridiculous demands and false incentives, the CEOs would have no choice but to start paying and treating people better. There's one thing I've learned working in the corporate world, the laziest people are usually the ones who are best at convincing others that they are the lazy ones, because that's how they survive in these companies. The hardest working people usually don't accuse others of being lazy because they care more about their own work, not with what others are doing.

"To make this a little fun, we plan to hold an ice cream celebration if we hit the mark."

It's also insidious because it makes it seem like management is doing a nice thing for its employees, if there are any problems Management can characterize the whole argument as about ice cream, not workers rights...this is a hallmark of bad management.

Earlier this year I asked my employer to make my work at home permanent. It was a one on one meeting and my boss is pretty laid back. I was told at the time to not tell other employees but that they were thinking about closing our physical location and having everyone work from home anyway. I wish more companies were understanding of their employees.
I'm waiting for the punch line.
They're not understanding of their employees. It was because they wouldn't have to pay for rent, electricity, Internet, computers, software, etc. You would be paying for all of that, at your home.
They thought that it's cheaper to not pay for all of that even if it means they can't control you all the time.
@@KulaGGin That may be so, but regardless of their reasoning it still benefits the employees as well. It is a win win.

Yup
I'm sure it's partly because they are power hungry and desperate to tell people what to do.
That sucks, hopefully they will let you do it now. Either that or I would open a PO Box… still would be cheaper than driving 100 miles a day.
@@ed4544 That's a bit extreme.
If you die, you can't make them money or spend money with them.
Most companies have building leases that are locked in... So they interpret not being able to save on overhead as a con (instead of the reality that it is net 0 either way). Essentially you have to go in to the office because the powers that be cant get over the sunk cost fallacy.

Working at the office instead of at home isn't a life risking thing anymore than going to the grocery store or a restaurant is. People want to work from home because its far easier, less stressful, and more productive because people are focused on their job instead of working their way into office cliches and trying to make it like high school.
Is less risk if you are going to less places like going in to the office

Agree on the not sharing personal medical information with your employer.

Your HR quote is spot on. NEVER TALK TO HR!!! They will fire you quicker than the lazy employee that should’ve been gone months ago.
As long as people realize they are making money for someone, they might as well do it in comfort or else let them find someone else.
Joshua, I'm so with you on this topic.

Thank you for telling us this. I wrote a scathing email to this credit union and I hope the CEO reads it. I'm appalled at his actions and hope he's fired.
“Let me know if you have any questions”
means
“If you ask me anything I’ll find some busy work to punish you with”
Or just find a reason to fire you
I worked from home pre-pandemic and still do. Be slightly careful what you wish for with transitioning to perma work from home. That makes your job very attractive for outsourcing.
lol. what's with ice creams and these guys?
Idk they think that adults are little goo goo ga ga babies. Nevermind the fact that a lot of people don't eat ice cream. Lactose intolerant, vegan, etc.
@Solve Everything Interesting.
There are multiple reasons why they don't like people working at home and it has nothing to do with productivity.
You are no longer slave to the company working at set amount of time, where you spend at least 3 hours preparing and commuting to the office. And a quarter of your money going to the stores around the offices for food.
*Ceo talking to employees while stroking ice cream:*
You..... want this...... Don't you
keep up the great work josh. i hated the place i use to work where they all talk about teamwork and family and such non sense then screw you over without a care.
We've had FOUR employees die from COVID. FOUR. Still have to come in at least 2 times a week now despite working successfully from home full time for over a year. Insanity. So no, even an employee dying will change their thirst for control over your life.
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your coworkers.
JOSH, my guy! You are KILLING IT with all these recent videos! I love seeing this stuff exposed!
Maybe they can appropriate MedTechs: "Icecream Baby" motivational video
Like many others, I appreciate what you have to say and the information you share. Keep up the good work.
These CEOs who care more about lower level employees being "at the office" more than their actual output reminds me a lot of those teachers who go to university and get their masters and become a high level teacher at a school and end up caring more about what the students are wearing at school than their education.
Whenever there is such a heavy push for anyone to do anything there is some motivating factor, likely money and lots of it.
what if you are lactose-intolerant diabetic and ice-cream denier? Where is the motivation to come back!
I love how real you are. Everyone needs to watch your videos. I love how you fight for Worker’s!!!!
So the employees should have a teams meeting and include the CEO, with everyone enjoying their fave ice cream within the comforts of their own home...while working!!! I love it! But seriously, him inquiring about why some have CHOSEN not to getthe vaccine is none of his business and is totally out of line.
great content thanks
“They’re not a culture fit” oh my god the accuracy
Welcome to America. Now take this Corporate Schlong for a hour or eight. Be in early so I can give rectal tonsillectomy tomorrow.
Jesus bro i don't know what to say
This is 100% about control and poor leadership, as someone who has held the role of a COO you must trust your employees. The workplace has forever changed, as a leader you either adapt or risk losing your talent.
The thing was always rigged. Problem is, now that you know the rules of corporate, do you join them, or break them.
Join em. Hanging out with the sheep won't get you that corner office, exec bonus or YATCH money.
This way he can’t be sued if there’s a Covid outbreak because he’ll just say they were following CDC guidelines of some form or another
I appreciate you talking about this stuff. I am glad you are giving people a voice!
Master Fluke is the hero we all knew we needed, but weren't allowed to articulate [instead we were asked to go to HR]
We're clearly a long way from that, but I think channels like this one are a great start.
“Boomer mentality” ...agreed!
Exactly. Boomers will go, "You youngins have to pull yourself by your bootstraps. That's why you have to listen to me, work for pitiful wages, let me micromanage you, while you risk your health, so that you can increase my profits while I'll reward you with ice cream. It's all your fault I don't have unlimited profits". Give me a break.
There's one thing I've learned working in the corporate world, the laziest people are usually the ones who are best at convincing others that they are the lazy ones, because that's how they survive in these companies. The hardest working people usually don't accuse others of being lazy because they care more about their own work, not with what others are doing.
@@edwardroh89 agreed. You literally can cut off half of the management of most given midsize company, and the business will still be doing well
Just started a new corporate job and the manager just set off a number of red flags. Apparently, if there is a regional emergency(such as a hurricane/tropical storm) and our power goes out, we “can go to office to finish work”. If we don’t show up at the office, we are considered a “no show” and can be disciplined. I almost laughed because I’m going to be the first one to evacuate. Im not risking my life fir a corporation.
Damn. Those emails would get my 2 week notice in response.
