Plus, Vader was always the ultimate slave, to himself, to Jedi, and Sith. Only after saving Luke from Palpatine was he truly free just for once in his miserable life.
I’ve seen people say they didn’t like the voice actor for Vader in this game (Matt Sloan). I’ve never really understood that, I think he does a phenomenal job.

Palpatine knew about Starkiller from day 1 and Vader was aware that he knew. Vader never intended Starkiller to overthrow Palpatine. The plan was to have him round up all the enemies of the Empire.

Cept he wasn’t “caught” it was revealed at the end of the game Vader was playing Starkiller the whole time. Starkillers “apprenticeship” under Vader was for the sole purpose of drawing out Palpatines enemies. That whole scene of Palpatine and Vader was theater simply to give Starkiller a motive
24:00 even though Vader and Starkiller just had a duel to the death, you can hear and see that Vader is actually saddened by the loss of this apprentice. Always makes me sad that at the time, this was the closest thing Vader had to a son as he didn’t know about Luke yet. So technically speaking Vader has just watched his ‘son’ die in front of him. Adding to the loss of Padme and all his other friends.

When the confrontation with Luke occurs, he makes the right decision that time with the memory of Galen being one thing that contributed into his redemption.
Opening this game up by having the player be Vader and fulfilling the power fantasy of hunting Jedi and being a bad ass Sith Lord was just genius. Simple, but genius.

I suppose in this instance at least, it's a case of killing in self-defence and killing for gratification. (But yeah, it would have been better for the whole galaxy in the long run)
