Don’t use a chainsaw on a prickly pear cactus. The blades will gum up and cause kick back which will lead to the severing of a limb. People will call this tragedy the self inflicted Canadian Chainsaw massacre.
Your one tough little bugger, doing that kind of work when you’re sick. But the folks that live in that area sure will appreciate the nice clean sidewalks and are now safe. Good job.
I love prickly pear and not difficult to sustain if you watch it. But if it gets out of hand, is really a bad situation. You did a great job taking your time and care of yourself. 😊
Hi Derek, really enjoyed watching your video. Yeah, those mini chainsaws are a game changer. Glad that its made your work a bit easier. Like what you said " we live and learn” absolutely. Happy New Year and may God embrace you and your family with His love and peace. Take care amigo.🇵🇷

I liked this one. Too bad a landscaping company couldn’t take some of the cactus. Great job cleaning up this sidewalk Derek. Hope you guys had a great Christmas. May 2025 bring you good healthy, happiness and prosperity!❤
@@slaugh77ify this variety doesn’t have the large thorns and only has the small hair like thorns. These gloves have a “somewhat thick” pad on them and it took most of those so I only got stuck 3 times

It is Christmas break. Why you assigning homework? I had no idea that cactus leaves are edible so now I have to hit the encyclopedias (because I am old) or maybe UA-cam and Dr Google, to research medicinal and food uses for cactus leaves. I know about aloe and burns but that is all. Maybe the State Fair should have a cactus truck between the deep fried ice cream and deep fried butter trucks. Right?
They are found in some grocery stores as nospales. Must get rid of all thorns in order to eat them. They can be a bit slimy when cooked and some have said they taste somewhere between peas and asparagus.
You understand why other were going to charge a couple of arms and a couple of legs to remove it You really kicked it! Great job!
Well done. You are such a sweetheart so humble
All of us that are handicapped and want to use the sidewalk thank you very much.
Nobody walks in the neighborhood!
@@131dyana I appreciate that! Most people go for walks at night when it cools down, and so I hope they enjoy it
This is repeat but very good. You did a great job n really helping the community. You clean the sidewalks n that is very nice. Good luck in new year
Nice Job ! Those junipers are a real pain in the butt to cut !!!
Beautifully done
Yes that little chain saw is great, they also have prunners you’ll love.
Prickly pear fruit is edible but the pads too,is new to us .
Yes the pads are too.😀
I have a friend who makes cactus salad every year for a Christmas potluck. It's really refreshing!
Me too. I have eaten the pear - very carefully of course - but also didn't know the pads can be eaten.
Interesting…..never knew you could eat it. All I know it’s beautiful when it blooms.
That was amazing that you used your ingenuity to donate the cactus and therefore provide a good, wholesome veggie to the community!! God bless you!
As a 70 year old woman. I bought one of the 6 inch chain saws, and it was the best investment. I love it and your videos. Good job.❤ from 🇨🇦

You are a blessing to the community. I know what it is like cutting cactus plants. The thorns are not a pleasant thing.

You are such a good hardworking man. Your community is lucky to have you. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
Truly a sticky situation 😊
Hey Derek do yourself another favor. Get yourself a ninja blade for your weed whacker. It cuts thru big weeds and heavy grass like butter
Nice. I'm sure the property owner is thankful. U r a good person. Your Oregon Viewer.
Giant cactus!! Good idea taking to food bank.

It's illegal to grow it where I live in Australia.
