I have a cockatiel which I’ve had for just over a month now, I let him out of the cage to play but after a few hours I needed to get him back in the cage. Trouble was, he is absolutely petrified of hands, and I couldn’t convince him to go to his cage alone. So I had to try and grab him, so many times, and he got real scared and made this same noise but, really really loud. I traumatised him :/ but he’s fine now aha. Still hates hands though

I used this video to convince my mom to let me get a cockatiel when I was 16. Let's just say my feathered friend and I have been together for 8 years now! :D
I have said this many times, and it'll always remain true. We are blessed to live on such a world where all the animals can and do demand and enjoy scritches/pets.
You guys shouldn't be too sad, 32 years is an amazing lifespan for a cockatiel! You guys should know you did very well, and he/she loved you as much as you loved her/him.
My bird died of a heart attack at eight. There was something wrong with him and I think it was because of something my babysitter did when they were babies
they are so friendly. I had one for years until someone in my household let him out of the house. A great little friend. I let him fly around the house everywhere so he was quite content.
Man I have such paranoia with birds being around cats - my brother had a tamed cockatiel when I was a kid and I really loved him, spent so much time with him and trained him and everything. Then one day he was on my sisters shoulder outside and got a fright and jumped off, and immediately the neighbours cat jumped out and grabbed him. We didn't get him back, I was so heart broken and it still freaks me out to think such an intelligent animal experienced a horrible death. :( I've never been able to adopt/rescue a bird since, it's just too heartbreaking
Archetype00, I'm so sorry you saw that happen to your brothers cockatiel. I can relate to your story as well. When I was a young girl around 10. I was in the front yard of the house I used to live in. I was watching a neighbors cat and he was chirping at a bird. I didn't know why until I saw him eating the bird. It scared the hell out of me. And I've never had a cat since then. Because of that very reason. I didn't want to see that happen to another bird.
@@weewoo234, Really? You hate cats for that reason? That's a little harsh don't you think? It's not the cats fault. That's just their natural instinct to hunt for food. I had to learn that when I was younger. It's just the way it is. It makes me sad to think about it. But we have no control over it.
Aww :) cockatiels r fascinating lil buddies. They r smart, adorable, beautiful and like to chirp/whistle. I don't know. I think it's cute when they are angry and bitey lol. I have a tough-love relationship with one of mine.
