Max Throws a Tantrum Over an Apple (Subtitles)

- Опубліковано 21 кві 2022
- What started as a conversation about an apple turned into a tantrum. In so many ways I'm just like a toddler with really big feelings. Although I threw a wobbler over an apple, when my momager finally offered one to me I was no longer interested. I forgot to remember that I wanted a snack. Clearly I was overtired - as you can see with the surprise ending.
I get upset quickly and I calm down just as easily. My momager knows to give me the space I need to vent my big feelings. She stays calm and waits it out. She also keeps her hands away when I am upset - during a tantrum I'm not always rational about my actions. Tantrums don't last long when you feel safe and secure. My hooman understands that it's just part of me being a bird - I can be very loud, but it's my way to express myself.
Although this video is subtitled, my momager didn't try to capture the words that I yell when I am angry. She promised to never say those words to me, and is respecting that.
On a scale of one to ten I rate this tantrum as a Moluccan. The numbers just don't make sense.

Bird unclear on how to petition higher being. Sounds familiar.
Best comment ever!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂👍
Don't forget to tell him you're an employee and a human 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Poor fella , he’s so frustrated!
Do parrots even eat apples?
Max has empowered me. I'm telling my Boss tomorrow "I want a raise and I want it soon! I want it now!"
Let me know if it works! 🤣
Sorry, you’re fired. 🤣
Did you get the raise?
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊
Yeah, stamp your feet, throw yourself on the floor like a 2 year old, scream your head off, that should work. Lol
I love the way he fluffed up his feathers before he threw a tantrum
Gotta look my best!
He wasnt saying half that stuff
@@chrishuber8930 Yes I was.
@@chrishuber8930 exactly, lol. He was vocalizing sounds, not word's & is why so many will go out and get a parrot believing they're going to speak and be clear. Unfortunately that does not always happen or is the case.
@@MaxtheMoluccan no the bird wasnt. Its just made up mumbo jumbo that sounds like it. Vocalization.
This is great. I’m reminded of a time when my husband and I were fostering an African Grey. My husband was talking about her, but calling her “him.” I corrected my husband a few times, but it didn’t change, until the bird called out loudly “Just call me Harriet!” I almost died laughing.
That's hilarious!
😂😂😂❤
Max is soo theatrical. I love how he throws his head around and turns his back melodramatically. Oh and raising his crest. "Now Now!"
I'm larger than life! 🤣🤣🤣
Wonder who he learnt it from..lol.
If huskies are the most dramatic dogs, then we can all agree Cockatoo are the most dramatic bird 😂
oohhh my american staffy will give yr husky a run for its dramatics lol...
they really are 🤣
they are the huskies of birds
YAAAAASSSSSSSSS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 COCKATOOS are the HUSKIES of the bird world!!! 💯💯💯💯💯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 perfect analogy.
Those guys are very impressive and so are African Grey's
Love the way he throws his head back 🤣😂
What a 🤡
I’m convinced that he’s a human toddler inside of a bird 🤣🤣🤣
I am! LOL
@Not Again and they tend to outlive their owners 🤣
Definitely!!
human toddler? I,ve seen grown men behaving just like this!
@@id9076 good point
The upside-down head thing is killing me! Max is so adorable . . . 🤗
He was showing what he could do to her head if she didn't listen lol
He said "UNDERSTAND I WANT AN APPLE RIGHT NOW!!!" That was actually pretty intimidating
Max is pretty patient with humans. He did ask calmly in the beginning
Max was adorable when he demanded "I want ANOTHER!" 😅
I do want it soon!
I have about 30 of these I feed every evening here in Sydney, Australia. They are wild. They are extremely smart. They also drive me crazy, and if I don't put food out, they get really pissed off and try to destroy things. I created a monster.
They have you trained!
Yep! You sure did!!!!
And Sulphur Cresteds can become some of the most bratty birds ever!
Yes my dearies, you been owned! Welcome to our world! We should have a fitting name for this club
I would consider moving to an undisclosed location far, far away. 😂
Imagine thieves entering the house at 3 AM and listening to that.
Just imagine the thief who tries to take my apple. They leave minus a finger and with impaired hearing....
😂The way he turned his head at the end to look at her like she was crazy when she tried to give him the apple.
Ikr, like " Well I don't want it now"
At least he didn't scream for a Big Mac. Max is a good boy.
Yes Max is an exception, I’ve seen majors go ballistic and can be very aggressive an destructive, this lady has a gift
SOOOOO TRUE
😂😂😂
Max asked so sweetly in the beginning for the apple, I feel bad it went down hill from there. He is just a little boy birdy and he did really try!!
Yes, but momager knows that I need a balanced diet - and I really wasn't hungry after having a huge dinner. Maybe next time she can get me a tiny sliver of apple...
I totally agree. I think she should be ashamed for continuing to badger that bird and upset him further just to see him get upset.
He's so good he had me looking for an apple to give him😂
It's amazing how they can literally have conversations with people, not just repeat what they hear, they are so smart 🤓
They primarily associate sounds with objects. For example if you hold up a cookie and call it a pumpkin they'll eventually associate the word pumpkin with a cookie when they see one. They don't know the difference between the two other than shape. They'll also repeat some sounds they hear often that are not speech. They also tend to repeat (parrot) words that are spoken with emotion more readily than if spoken normally. In short they don't necessarily understand the meaning of words, although they associate a given word with a certain object or behavior.
@@cassiespencer6134 in short, that's how language works lol
@@tjp_real Of course. However, not all animals 'speak' the way some parrots do. For example, dogs understand what some sounds (words) mean although they can't 'parrot' (replicate) speech the way some parrots can.
That said some people wrongly claim that parrots do not understand what words mean and only 'parrot' said sound/s. That too is often incorrect. As in not always since some individual parrots do in fact understand the meaning of certain words or phrases and often act accordingly. Note: Research has shown that ability to be innate in parrots, although not all will do so. Much of it has to do with the environment (home for example) along with how they're trained.
@@cassiespencer6134 That one African Grey (what was his name again?) who once asked his handler what color he was comes to mind.
@@cassiespencer6134 That is literally how humans develop a vocabulary. There is nothing objective about language, hence why they evolve so heavily. It's about associating sounds with objects and ideas. The barrier is that birds communicate ideas differently than humans. They have fundamentally different body language. So there is a language barrier that prevents the ready communication of certain ideas. You can see how Max gets frustrated by the communication barrier in this video. He isn't really angry about apples. He's angry that he is asking something specific and thinks it's not being understood.
As one of my nieces once said - I don't want it now. I wanted it then!!!! 😂😂😂
Egggsactly! Your niece is very smart.
I felt his frustration. He said what he said, and it seemed quite urgent. I think his look at the end said something akin to " take your apple and..."😂
Great answer
That bird is speaking English! That is amazing. He's beautiful!
You are so kind
Max wanted the apple when he asked for it and not after😂😂
He started off asking so sweetly....that went left quick.....😅🤣😂
He went off on a wild tangent, and got it all out...and then turns back around, all composed...and looks at you upside down, like, "I haven't a clue, what just came over me. What? An apple? No, I don't recall wanting an apple". 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
📌
🤣🤣🤣 These birds are something else!
Better get him that apple, he ain't playing! 😂😅😂
OMG 😂 “I tried telling you help me now. I’m a bird right now. You understand me? Help me out!” 😂😂😂
Right?!
He amazes me! He speaks English, hands down.
Yeah like "I can't even open the refrigerator! Where's the fruit bowl at!?!"
😆😅😂🤣 Hahaha, is that what he says? I couldn't understand a lot of what sweet Max was trying to say. 🤫☺️
He didn't want the apple after his tantrum, he was embarrassed, tried to cover that with some cute head turning silliness, and then, of course, he was too tired to eat!
0:15 Max was trying to be calm but just couldnt take it anymore. 😂😂😂
Priceless! 😂
I think what he really want's is a raise. He is a UA-cam superstar yunno! 👍
You have a very intelligent bird. I've never seen one talk in complete sentences holding a conversation like that.
You can tell hiw closely she works with him, and annunciates every word really well so he will pick them up.
And some not-so-intelligent viewers.
To address some of the comments:
1. I learned how to throw a tantrum like this in my first home - I lived in a basement and there was a lot of yelling including the language that I was using in this video. (I haven't heard these words for over 18 years, but I remember).
2. Momager treats me like a toddler. A tantrum doesn't result in attention or treats. You never reward undesirable behaviours.
3. Momager waited until after I had calmed down and played quietly before offering me what I had originally wanted.
4. Prior to this video I had just eaten an apple, and she didn't think I was still hungry, that's why she engaged in conversation.
5. A Moluccan Cockatoo is very much like a toddler.
6. Parrots and other birds can be loud, noisy and require a lot of attention. It's not all rainbows and sunshine - very important to show the louder side of having a parrot. (This is why parrots don't make great pets).
7. I am a rescue I came from a bad situation but have found my forever home. When I am overtired old behaviours come out..
8. I have a really good life - lots of enrichment, healthy foods, attention, entertainment and adventures. I am living my best life. My momager believes in adopt, don't shop - there are many birds in rescues who need forever homes that meet their needs.
9. To learn more about me watch The Story of a Rescue - ua-cam.com/video/GFgeVBAWW0g/v-deo.html and check out some of my other videos. You will see that I have a fantastic life!
They are really like toddlers!
He just wants some female bird company
How did you even get this bird in america there a protected species
@@brettmcaskill4450 - *They’re. (“They’re a protected species.”)
Also, what? Moluccan Cockatoos (otherwise called Salmon Created Cockatoos) are among the most abundant med/large bird species in captivity in the United States, and also one of the most abundantly sold med/large birds in the country. They can range in price from around $1200 - $4000, and are relatively easy to find. While they are considered a protected species in a number of countries, a protected species doesn’t inherently mean they cannot be kept as pets, bred, raised, sold, or traded. They’re protected because 87% of their natural indigenous habitat has been lost, or destroyed by human intervention; deforestation, fires, and issues involving climate change. This has drastically reduced the number of *wild* Moluccan Cockatoos, and places them in danger of extinction in the wild. The distinction of “protected” class simply means that it’s illegal to capture & sell *wild* birds, not that it’s illegal to own captive bred & raised birds. It’s illegal to purposely damage their remaining known *wild* habitats and/or breeding grounds…it’s illegal to kill *wild* Moluccan Cockatoos for being a nuisance…etc. But Cockatoos in general are not indigenous to any areas in the United States, so they are not a protected species here. We have no reason to classify their distinction & create laws to protect wild birds, which do not exist in the wild, under our domain.
That wasn't the kind of apple he wanted. 😆😆😆
As never being around birds really. I find this Fascinating! ❤
Awesome 👌
He continued his tantrum because she kept asking him the same question over and over to the point that he turned his back to her and ignored her. Sounds like a toddler. Lol 😂😂
Perhaps it wasn't a tantrum it was just frustration at being teased? All to make a video
@@Stardust_Truth_Seeker Exactly! Thank you.
I agree. She's very immature and abusive. This video made me so sad for him. He's a sweetie and she was trying to get him angry.
Yeah, as a 2 year old baby.
@@sc5216 No, I don't get that impression at all
That upside head is simply adorable. Birds have quite the personalities!
Max is telling us all about what he wants..APPLE NOW😂, bless his heart ❤️
I do want an app an' I want it soon! 🤣
It’s adorable how his feathers and crest go up when the word ‘ Apple’ is mentioned.
Did somebirdie say "Apple?" 🤔 👀
I have a friend who has an African Grey, for about 30 years. I've always said he's a perpetual 2 year old but he is also so cute and lovable when he wants to be. When her husband passed the bird went through a tough time grieving because he was so bonded to him. But my friend and the Grey have worked out their grief together and become closer. BYW he still calls the dog from years ago in her husband's voice that now makes her laugh again. These parrots are friends for a lifetime.
That crazy bird is hilarious 😂
Oh no a pet that talks back.😂
I'm so happy to see how you manage Max's tantrums so well, and I feel really sad for him, becausevof the scars he carries in his previous owner ,his behavior says that he still remembers the bad moments he had :'(
Same reaction I'd have if someone kept telling me to calm down 🙄😂
I agree. I completely lose it when my boyfriend says that to me
No one in the history of mankind has ever calmed down from being told to calm down.
I tell my guy friends…never tell a woman to “Calm Down “…the fires of Hell will rain down on you 😂
Exactly after provoking the poor bird to begin with after he asked for an apple and she denied him. He has no other way to communicate apparently that his owner understands since he noticed her tone of voice immediately as did every one else.
@@pamelamorris3148 I agree with you 100 percent
How could you not love a face that goes 🙃
I feel you max. Dumb humans make you so frustrated they put you off your food
This!!

Wow wow now Max doesn’t want a apple 🍎 after all that yelling
I forgot that I wanted one 🤣🤣🤣
The feathers got me😂
It sounded to me that the parrot was throwing a tantrum because it was being misunderstood and didnt want an apple in the first place lol
Our boy certainly puts up a pretty good argument. I love that voice.🤍🧡💛🤍🥰
Max is the second UA-cam Cockatoo I've seen scream for an apple only to turn their beaks up when offered one.
That vocalization that sounds like apple probably means something else to him...

He really wants an apple. How hilarious. My parents were visiting a a family member and they had an African Grey parrot. He was so funny. My dad was telling them how sometimes he used Peach preserves to sweeten his coffee. (I know gross, right!). The parrot immediately said “God Da?m! He knew that was gross. At lunch time he would go gather all the guest in the house by going in and say, “come sugar and cluck at them. He’d tell his mom, he wanted her to cook him some chicken.
