I think Texas Roadhouse has the highest quality steak. That being said, how its cooked makes a big difference. Quality of meat makes a huge difference and I feel that's why Outback Steak while cooked well was flavorless. I live in Iowa so I'm somewhat spoiled to quality beef. Great video guys, always enjoy watching you guys cook and/or eat.
Morning Branden, Thanks so much for the kind words and yeah, totally agree. The quality of the beef makes a huge diff... We can get prime pretty easily but you pay out the nose for it. The tomahawk steaks Chris bought last season were outstanding but it think he paid over $250 or something for the 3 of them. We did get several meals out of each though so I guess if you go on a "per plate" cost it isn't as bad as it seems. My local market had choice rib eye for $19.99 a pound on sunday. I am guessing you get it far cheaper where you are? Thanks for taking the time to comment! Griddle on bud! -N
@@TheGriddleGuys I agree Nate, the cost of food products now days is crazy. Ribeye around here is $17.00 a lbs. Kind of like the price of gas. Keep on cooking guys!
Paid a visit to the Outback last weekend since Covid start. We shared an appetizer and the 22oz Porterhouse with Loaded BP and Broccoli. Very Good Meal. Tender and Flavorful. Even took some home so she could make/take a Steak Salad the following day to work.
We (my wife & I)prefer Texas Roadhouse. We usually split a 16 oz. Fort Worth Ribeye ordered medium rare and it has always been delicious. I’ve had bad experiences at the other two chains, dry, over cooked. Jeff, keep up the great camera work!!
OK Kevin I have to say it........... YOUR FLAT OUT WRONG!..... Jeff is definitely NOT GOOD with the camera! Talk like that will go right to his head then he will start slacking! We will have NONE of it! 😜 Now that we got that out of the way... LOL,,, never tried the FW Rib eye at TR. Next time we end up there I will give it a shot. Thanks for the tip! Nice change with the reviews. I've eaten at roadhouse a ton of times. I always thought their food was flavorful, really liked the dine-in atmosphere. Never been a fan of outback. HOWEVER, recently i switched up to longhorn and it just seems more upscale and the steaks were definitely better. They're no hilltop steakhouse.
Isn't HillTop out of business? How could that happen? I watch that episode of "Steak Paradise" ALL the time, it's great with Peter Luger/Hilltop, Pat/Genos,/Big Texan.
Actually - it depends on the particular CHEF you get at any of these chains. I often point out that at our local Red Lobster - the seafood is good as long as you do not get the Lobster. It is consistently overcooked and rubbery even if you ask them to steam it. Locally - and I only get Rib steaks - which to me have the best all around steak flavor of any Fast Food steak house as well as a good steak house - the Outback's Mon-Friday early evening chef wins hands down. The actual steak at the Roadhouse might be better than outback but is cooked all over the map. However - the Local Longhorn is consistently overcooked no matter when you go - although they have the best Baked Potato. WE have a Flemings - part of the Outback group but has PRIME meat - and that is the best we can get in MY area = but it is TWICE the price. My local Costco sells PRIME beef, but you really need a proper Charcoal fire which takes time. A gas fire does not fill the bill. Get yourself a Chimney Starter - start the coals in it with Newspaper and let them have 1/2 hour BEFORE you spread them from the starter and maybe about 10 minute spread out on the grill but do add a handful of new coals when you dump the coals. ANd cook to about 120-122. Tent and let rest for about 15 minutes for medium rare (Cook your potato in your oven just before you start the coals.) It will not save you money over Outback - and the rest - BUT it will give the PRIME experience.
I like this type of video. The fact you could get all three same time, checked temps, etc really gives the true comparison. Would be good to see a few of these mixed on every once in a while. Thanks
Great video. We only have an Outback and Texas Roadhouse nearby and of the two Texas Roadhouse is better. The atmosphere sucks as it's very loud. Outback has never been great locally. When we visit Destin Florida there is a Logan's that never disappoints. You guys should do a cook of three ribeyes purchased from three different places and cook them in the griddle with no seasoning just to see which place has the better beef taste. I find taste and quality varies from store to store.
Thanks for commenting Eddie! A few other folks said the same thing, The quality varies city to city and store to store. Totally agree on the noise in TR... Very loud in there to the point of being aggravating. I like the 3 ribeye suggestion, we just may do that down the road! Griddle on bud! -N
Tx Roadhouse is loud but it’s kind of meant to be that way. It’s a cross between a steakhouse and a sports bar so to speak. Not meant to be a quiet swanky suit and tie steakhouse. My one big knock on them though is they boil their ribs before searing them and saucing them. Big no no.
Great video. I feel like this type of video is way more credible than a lot of the big-time shows. Great to hear that accent of my native New englanders
Out of all these places, Texas roadhouse has been consistently excellent no matter what location I've visited. Honestly irregardless of price, I prefer it to eat more expensive steakhouses like Ruth Chris or Ted's Montana Grill. It's consistently a tasty, well seasoned steak.
I liked the episode, nice change from cooking. It would have been nice to see Duncan get his bone! What makes you guys and Hussey fun to watch is you are regular people, with pets and families. I know not everyone is fond of pets, but I like seeing you guys with your pets as you cook!
Ken, Thanks for watching, for being a subscriber and most of all for this comment! It's not always easy to find the time to pull together videos and to be honest we don't always know what people want to see. A sincere thank you for the feedback as this helps in more ways than one! Happy Holidays to you and your family Ken! -N
I assume Duncan is a dog? How many of you people are feeding animals cooked bones? Raw bones are fine, but COOKED bones have splinters and can cause massive problems. This is very worrying to me...
nice episode, a little different. i haven't had outback ever. longhorns it's been forever. the texas behind my house is decent. the strip and primerib i had were very good. but i guess who is cooking it and preparing it - can make a difference...
Nice to hear from you CJ! As usual, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! Hope your turkey day was great and your Christmas is even better! Griddle on bud! -N
@@TheGriddleGuys always!!! i always look forward to your guys videos!! i seem to laugh a few times as well.. especially with Jeff's cooks and his 2189321 ingredients lol
I agree the best steak is always the one that just came off the grill after a few minutes to rest the steak. I always expected that a steak in a take out or delivered would be less than quality. For me, I believe the best steak is done by sous vide then with a torch or extremely hot griddle pan sear the steak for the crust. Using this method has produced the most tender and flavorful of any steak I have every had, far better than any steakhouse steak I have ever had.
Hi Rick! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! not sure if you have seen it but we Love the sous vide! Totally agree a nice "soak in the bath" then season and crust the heck out of it.... MMmmmmMMm it's heaven on a plate! Griddle on bud! -N
Some of the best advice ever given to me when it comes to making your own steak at home is to spend the extra money on usda prime. If you're like most people you don't make steak really often so it's not going to break you financially, and you will be very happy you spent the extra money. I usually go with a boneless ribeye because of the great flavor and their easy to cook. Also, it took me awhile to convert to cooking them on a cast iron pan vs grilling them but honestly i think it's the best way to make them to help achieve that outer crust everyone loves. Season with salt & pepper and some garlic and butter in the pan. Medium rare is probably the most desired temp, around °127 to°135. Get a digital thermometer (around $10) to take away much of the guesswork.
Texas Roadhouse can be really good, but you also run the risk of getting a steak with rubber bands running through it. I've had better steaks at Outback, but I also really like Longhorn. Favorite is still Logan's, but that's because the one in Blacksburg, VA was amazing and I have a lot of good memories there.
Always great to hear from you Rob! Good suggestion! next time. A bunch of people said we should have reviewed the sides as well, and yeah... they are right... Live and learn. Hope you guys had a great turkey day bud! -N
Texas Roadhouse bread is the only one there that is actually made at the restaurant. They make the dough and cook the dough in an oven to make the bread where as Outback and longhorn get their bread prepackaged
There might be a difference between dining in and taking out. Texas Roadhouse is my favorite. The food is great and filling. I would like the guys to dine in at Texas Roadhouse and you might have a different take on the experience. I enjoyed your video such much. This is the first time I watched and loved the comparisons. I have subscribed.
Wow! You guys got much different results for take-out vs non take-out. I like Texas Roadhouse the best then Outback and then Lonnghorn. Longhorn gets its steaks pre-cut. A lot has to do with who is cooking and the right amount of spices. I have sent steaks back that were over cooked or had too much spices (so salty I couldn't eat it).
I think all 3 are Okay. I think it depends on who cooks your steak. In Fort Smith, Arkansas Texas Roadhouse as the best cuts and is cooked the way you ask. Never had my steak cooked correctly at Longhorn, have always had to send it back because to rare or to over cooked.
Morning Bill, your sentiments are shared. We have had many many comments letting us know that it really depends on the actual location. Some are great while others are not. Ours happens to be not so great Griddle on bud! and thank you for commenting! N
I agree with the guys, if you want a good steak, get one and cook it yourself for the best result. Ordering a steak for take out is a bad idea, if you want to eat something good. We also have to remember that every location have different Mgrs and cooks, thus giving you different results. Great video and presentation. GRIDDLE ON DUDES.
Morning Bruno! Great to hear from you! Several other folks mentioned that as well. Different cities, different locations have different quality. I am willing to give it a shot, next time I travel I might hit up TR. Happy belated T-day! -N
Liked your presentation! Was totally surprised on the outcome, thought Outback would be the best, but the color of the meat was definitely the proof! Good job well done!!
I have definitely been to all these restaurants, been to only one Texas Roadhouse, it steaks are my first choice and are consistently delicious. Longhorn has been consistent when I travel and have been happy on more than one location. Outback is adequate at best and not driving out of my comfort zone to go there. The roll at Texas are extremely fresh and baked in house minutes before served, and I guess there is a salad but not a salad fan!
We love our longhorn. Go there over TRH just because of the noise alone. We do like all three but Longhorn is the best here in our area as well - Ive never had a bad steak there, I always get the 8oz filet MR, and its to die for.
Hi Mike! Thanks for checking out our channel! Funny you mention the noise at TRH,,, I noticed it as well. Very echo-e and loud. I think they do this on purpose to create a busy atmosphere. Griddle on bud! -N
If you see Sun Drop (it’s a soda/pop) in Massachusetts, you need to try it. Definitely do another video like this! E.g., tacos, chicken sandwiches, donuts, fish sandwiches, etc.
Fish Sandwiches! Good Call! some places rock them, some places are terrible! I like it! Sun drop? I have never seen it but I will be keeping an eye out for it now, thanks for the tip! Thanks for watching John and for taking the time to comment! -N
Fantastic video guys! I love all three of these places but I think the Outback has gone down. I haven't been there in a few years. I live pretty close to the Texas roadhouse and Longhorn and I alternate between those two. I'm not sure which one has the best steak but I like Longhorn environment better, Texas roadhouse is way to loud. I'll have to do a side by side comparison between the two to see which one I like best for sure. Have a great weekend guys 🥩🥩🥩
4 Seasons in the house!!!!!!! 😀 Great to hear from you! A bunch of people here in the comments said the same about TR... the noise is aggravating and personally I also agree (nate). Hope you had a great turkety day and an even better Christmas! Griddle on bud! -N
Just seeing the video title and eating at all 3 places multiple times I would have figured Longhorn would be last. I will give it to Longhorn for the presentation and nice grill marks. It is a tough time to judge restaurants due to the turnover and lack of employees. It looked like some rookies at Outback and Longhorn. One cool thing about Outback is back in the day they cooked all there steaks on a flat top and then they eventually went to wood fired grills. Overall fun video. Good job guys
Love the UA-cam handle! Just sub'd you. I never knew that about OB and I would have never guessed it. Cool info and ty for sharing it! We will check out some of your vids. Griddle on bud! -N
Texas Roadhouse was started and Headquartered here in Louisville, but I think Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is my first choice for good meat. Cattleman's Steakhouse is very good, too.
Love the outsider perspective, can I share some insider? If you look at the whole picture Longhorn has bagged croutons, Outback doesn't bake their bread in-house. I've worked at two of these three and Texas Roadhouse puts in the most work as far as made on site. 👍 (My Outback microwaved lobster tails for example. 😳 )
Craig, not sure the outback would like this comment to see the light of day. 😁.. As a lifelong New Englander the microwaved lobster is what causes my head to want to explode.. lol. Ty for giving us a peek behind the curtain as scary as it might be. Cheers-J
Happy Holidays men. Interesting and fun video. We always go to outback because its the closest. I will have to try longhorn to compare. The photos of the steaks definitely favored longhorn.
I eat at all 3 of these places and a decade later, I’m still trying to figure out who’s the best. Maybe in a couple of decades later I’ll know for sure. Either way, it’s a win win for me.
TGG’s, Loved the episode! Great work and I liked the presentation of the dishes. The first one certainly did not look like you paid $23 for it! Glad you enjoyed it and always great to hear from you Jay! All 3 of us want to do another live. We haven't done one in forever and we really enjoy them. I'm in agreeance with y'all about going ot and buying your own steaks for a few reasons. 1. You can see the marbling in them. 2. You can see the amount of fat on them. 3. You can actually see what the grade is.
I've never had a steak at a restaurant that is as good as what I can cook at home. A couple very expensive restaurants have come close but for the money I could go out and buy a really nice piece of Australian Wagyu
I think Texas Roadhouse generally has the best quality steaks for the best price. However, they are typically the chain that rarely gets “medium rare” right.
I've eaten at many Texas Roadhouse locations all over the country, always order my steaks medium rare, and they unfailingly get it right. Sometimes their steaks are a little more gristly than I might like, but I've never had one that wasn't cooked perfectly to the right temperature. Longhorn, on the other hand....
I tend to order steak rare in order for it to be medium rare by the time it arrives at my house. At least then if I have to heat it up, it won't be too overdone.😊
Bobbi in the house!!!!! Great to hear from you! Love your idea! will do this in the future! Happy Holidays to you and your family Bobbi!! Griddle on! -N
Having recently eaten at TRH I'm not surprised with your results. My first steak I sent back because 1/3 of it was fat. The second wasn't much better but I ate it and said I would go back to my locally owned Steak place and never go back to TRH.
Morning Rob, A ton of folks have commented to let us know that it really depends on the location. Some are much better than others. Apparently our local one isn't so great. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! -N
This is the results of 3 restaurants in 1 city in 1 state while each of these places has multiple locations across numerous states. They could take 3 more steaks, from 3 more places in another city and have different results. Don't let internet people tell you what to eat. This is a representation of that particular cities crew and management team.
Fair points Mitchell, Would be curious if someone did it in another state what the result would be. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. -N
Morning JA! Thanks for watching the video! We appreciate it. Many folks have told us the same. it really depends on the actual location. Some are great, others not so much which I guess makes sense. Griddle on friend! -N
ive cooked at texas roadhouse in owensboro ky for 6 years and im a key hourly back of house manger. if your in the neighborhood come by, well get ya all the way together!!!
Not sure why this video showed up in my feed but I’m glad it did! Living in Houston, Texas, LongHorn is our GoTo restaurant for every family birthday!!! Their potato soup is really good, too! 😁💜
I enjoyed it (as always), don't eat out much but that means I don't get to compare, so this will be helpful next time I can do a sit down meal in Bangor. I do agree, anything you cook yourself is much better, with the exception that you have to share with the kids and do your own clean up.
Love the share with your kids... LOL. :-D Bangor! Nice! So like us I am guessing you already shut off the outside water spigots, prepped the snowblower / plow and put out the driveway markers? 😀 Thanks for watching Robert and for taking the time to comment! Stay warm! -N
Okay, for some critiques. I'm not going through the headache of an online order, then the round trip drive only to have warmed over steak. I'm just staying home and grilling my own. New York strip??? Might as well have hamburger. Ribeye or filet for me.
Awesome video. I have eaten the same steak at all 3, the sirloin and all are decent. Roadhouse is always to busy and I hate to wait. Longhorns at least by me is the least amount of food at the same or more expensive price. Outback is rarely busy average price and decent. But I still enjoy all 3 if someone else is buying. I am with you, mine are better than all 3 and half the price.
These guys dissing on a dinner roll. Dude, I would go to Texas Roadhouse JUST for the rolls! The other two places gave you bread to make a sandwich with later. Texas actually realized the bread was meant to be a side. On the plus side, I bet Texas gave you MORE than just one roll too.
I’m a home cook but I thought the prices of these places were reasonable as long as you don’t have a discerning palate for beef. Dining out is a mix of atmosphere, social gathering, some alcohol, and a mix of foods other than the beef. Don’t go there and expect dry aged prime steaks for under $26.
Gentleman what a great video. I think it would have been good to show your alcohol of choice! Haha. But you prove that when your cook, your own stay with it.
I absolutely agree, when out of town, I eat at longhorns because no matter the location, they're very consistent. Of course not the best steakhouse, but a you can't go wrong. I only eat meat, no carbs, no veggies, and definitely no fruit.
I have never had food from any of these restaurant chains (I usually cook at home) but I do not think I would order take-away; the food would probably get cold on the drive home. If I were to rate the quality of the food from the restaurants featured in this video I would eat in-store to give each of them a fair chance.
Hey Tommy! Hope all is well bro! I looked them up and unfortunately none near us. Maybe next time I am in NY or NJ I will check them out! Thanks for commenting and Happy new Year! - C
Great video it was informative and entertaining. I enjoyed the comparison. I have been to all 3 and I like them all but prefer TR. I like my ribeyes or filet extra well. About 1/2 the time they get it right but often it is more like medium. A lot depends on the cook. Roadhouse to me is the most flavorful. As they say in the law, it is a subjective test and there is no right answer for everyone. Cooking on the grill is fun and all but it requires constant attention.
What we have heard is it is def a mixed bag. Each location is different. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts! Much appreciated! -N
I used to prefer Outback. I stopped ordering steak when I learned to reverse sear a Ribeye over charcoal. Now I buy the whole roast and hand cut my own steaks, then vacuum seal them before freezing. I do still go to Texas Roadhouse on occasion to get a burger.
Agreed 👍....... A quick burger or two but a steak is something special and I do my own at home...... more bang for the buck with a higher degree of satisfaction.
Good call Jeremy! To me you can't really beat a reverse sear with charcoal in the mix. The high temp dry heat coming from the coals along with the infrared energy and smoke impart a flavor that is tough to match. How about you throw together 3 of those for us? 😀 Sounds delish! Griddle on friend! -N
I love the bread at Texas round house. I feel the sides make up For the steak. Basically idk how to cook 1 and cheaper and less mess just to go pick it up. So glad to see the comparison thanks so Much .😊👍
It’s the complete opposite where I live. Outback all shutdown, longhorns over cooks medium rare, and roadhouse consistently cooks it perfect. Guess it depends on the gm n cook more than anything.
Fun video, I liked the changeup. Full agreement, a steak cooked at home on my Weber kettle is better than anything I could get at a restaurant. Nice job guys.
Correct and also about 1/4 the price. That's the reason the last time I ordered steak at a restaurant (that wasn't comped) was right around 1975 when I was 20 and didnt have a grill at the apt yet.
I really like the Texas Roadhouse bone in rib-eye, and like their rolls better than the small loaf breads. However, I’ve never had it take out. Went to Longhorn for the first time last week and got their bone in rib-eye, it was as good or better than Texas IMO, I was happy with it. Haven’t been to Outback in years, but would always get the Outback Style prime rib. Seasoned and seared after roasting. Not sure if they make it anymore, but it was good. My parents just left from a visit and bought us a 16.5 lb, USDA Prime, rib roast from Costco. Vacuum sealed, going to have it for a Christmas celebration with my wife’s extended family on Dec. 18.
I've had all these multiple times. Texas Roadhouse wins for me every time. However I always get the sirloin. I've had the strip and not a fan. TR 16oz. Sirloin os my go to chain steak. Cool review.
Know I’m late to the party, but my choice between these three restaurants would be D: Other. 😬. I guess I too have had ok steaks at Longhorn so if I had to force a pick, that would be it. Great idea for an episode! Maybe try some upscale places sometime?
Only Certified Black Angus for me...I will never buy a steak from a grocery store or eat out a these steak houses because they sell the lowest grade beef.
Morning George, I like that you call out certified, I have a local butcher shop that pushes something they call "Our Best Angus..." and it irritates me cuz I know it is purposely misleading. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! -N
Cool video!! This is why I never order steak at a steakhouse. If we go to a really fancy place I’ll always order seafood and if it’s a chain like these places I’ll get prime rib. I always say I can make a way better steak for a fraction of the price at home on my griddle. I could probably make a better prime rib too, but that’s an entire process and investment.
Served at outback and Texas Roadhouse and now wanting to get into longhorn. Outback has frozen steaks and Texas Roadhouse has a butcher. Meaning Roadhouses steaks are better, and cheaper.
@@samanthamartin9254 Not a fan of Outback, but Longhorn has a better menu, better beef, very consistent and more upscale than Outback or Texas Roadhouse. I would rank them #1 Longhorn, #2 Texas Roadhouse and #3 Outback. Forget Ruby Tuesdays or TGIF Fridays.
Awesome video guys! Longhorn was the first steakhouse I've visited when first coming to the US, been a fan ever since. I've tried outback and roadhouse and they've made me miss Longhorn's ribeye. I really didn't like the new-york strip though, it tasted burnt. the ribeye's awesome, the burgers are dope, and the service in most locations is really good. I went countless times ever since, alone and with friends, it was always a great meal at decent prices. steakhouses in israel are super uncommon, and if you do find one - don't go in, you'll pay a lot for a great disappointment. Longhorn delivered the best american steakhouse experience for a first timer :)
I don’t like the way Texas Roadhouse puts a heavy weight on ribeyes (here in Colorado at least) to make them cook faster. It presses all the juice and flavor out.
Anytime guys are concerned about "grill marks" that tells me they don't really know how to cook a steak. Grill marks simply mean that 75% of the outside of the steak is NOT seared or crusted correctly. The entire side of the steak should be crusted and carmelized. "Griddle" guys probably know a lot more about pancakes than steak.
@@GeorgeSawtooth I don't cook steaks o take pics of them, I cook them for best flavor and that occurs when the exterior is blackened and the interior is rare to med rare. "Pittsburg Style".
Where I live in podunk N FL, we don't have an Outback. But, as far as my family's history of both dine-in and take-out, our TRH throws Longhorn out of the ring every time. I don't recall ever being disappointed by anything or any time I've ordered there. My steaks have been on point for temp without fail. For dine-in, TRH service staff makes Longhorn's look like high school clowns. The best thing I can compliment Longhorn on is their French onion soup. *Disclaimer: I give you my word, I have no relatives or associations who work for either. 👍
Hi Rodney! Thanks for taking the time to comment,,, Sous vide all day every day and twice on Sunday! But,,, isn't the sous vide really a gift for her? Its hard when you make your own all the time to go out. Never order steak when out, its always not seasoned, not cooked right, and the cheapest piece of beef they can find. I can walk into hannafords and usually find something decent. Market basket I agree i don't typically buy beef there.
Great feedback BBQ-S! Not sure about your area but in our area Market basket has been stepping up their game. They have been remodeling every store and the new ones are carrying better beef. Some of the larger ones even have a dedicated Prime Beef counter. This being said, the prime beef isn't any cheaper than other butcher shops but... at least it's an option now. @@TheGriddleGuys well market basket you know they can be difficult in the meat section, wish they sold my favorite sweet and sour sauce that forces me to go to hannafords. Anyways love your videos
Funny how things change over time. 20 years ago, I thought Longhorn was just "meh" and Outback very flavorful. Switch to today, and Longhorn has waaaaayyyyy stepped up their game and is delicious. Outback, on the other hand, has (IMO) gone down the drain or, as Rodney Dangerfield said in Caddyshack "This meal is low grade dog food. The steak still has marks where the jockey was hitting it!"
Crazy I prefer outback when it comes to ribeye. I have ordered from all 3 not at the same time but 3 different days to kinda of do a comparison myself. Again I did the rideye. I myself have a hard time getting the NY strip to come out perfect on the grill or griddle because it's such a lean cut of beef. Good point on the beef flavor though. I like a top center sirloin for the beef flavor and I can get it cut thick enough were I don't over cook it. Great video guys as always..
Rib eye is also my preference. My memory might be fuzzy but I think I chose to go with strip because it was the one that was most similar across the 3 chains. Agree with your comment though. Ribeye and top sirloin are both more flavorful. Griddle on SmokN! -N
I’m not big on ‘To Go’ steaks.. need to eat them off the grill. All 3 are excellent ‘at their price point’.. if not grilling at home you will be satisfied with these choices
When taking into account the pure convenience of it and the reasonable prices I agree but a little bit of effort would go a long way for sure. Thank you for commenting-J
Hey guys great video I totally agree we all can cook a better stake than take-out But I love hanging out with you guys anytime love you guys Take Care ❤💪👍
Longhorn gets their meat deliveries every single day so they will always be the freshest. One of my favorite restaurants I've cooked in.
I wasn't aware of that Chuck, Thanks for sharing! Griddle on bud! -N
In-restaurant it’s the best. Longhorn no doubt all things considered
I’ve worked in longhorn kitchens for years, this is horseshit. Although they are not fresh everyday, it def is the highest quality out of the three
Fresh meat is tough and flavorless. I prefer at least 20 days of aging before it sees a grill.
Why would anyone EVER order steak at a resturant?
@@TheGriddleGuys I bought five 2" thick choice rib eyes at local grocery store in Lakeway, TX Friday @ $5.97 a pound. (Cut from rib roast by butcher).
Now that we got that out of the way... LOL,,, never tried the FW Rib eye at TR. Next time we end up there I will give it a shot. Thanks for the tip! Happy Holidays and Griddle on bud! Ty for commenting! -N

HILLTOP!!!!? Al! Your local! LOL Love it! 😀👍 Brings back some great memories! Griddle on bud! -N
I miss Victoria Station!
I like this type of video. The fact you could get all three same time, checked temps, etc really gives the true comparison. Would be good to see a few of these mixed on every once in a while. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback Jim! Happy Holidays! -N
Big no no.
The only thing Outback has is the bloomin onion 😅😂😊
Great video. I feel like this type of video is way more credible than a lot of the big-time shows. Great to hear that accent of my native New englanders
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment! Griddle on Colorado! -N

BOILED steak is a joke. How old are you about 30?
Thanks guys that really helped in my decision making. 👍👍
"...spend the extra money on usda prime..."
So if we are ever near a logan's we are going to have to try it. Tons of comments on now good it is. Sadly there are none nearby. Griddle on bud! -N

I really enjoyed watching this. It was funny and enlightening!
Thanks Curt! - C
I was not surprised by your take-out steak test results because based on my in-house steak test, Longhorn is #1, Outback is #2, and Roadhouse is #3.
Nice! Thanks for sharing Narsuitus! Griddle on! -N
I like the change up in content guys!! Great video
Texas Roadhouse bread is the only one there that is actually made at the restaurant. They make the dough and cook the dough in an oven to make the bread where as Outback and longhorn get their bread prepackaged
Good to know! Thank you! - C
Good point! And thank you so much for subscribing! Griddle on Monique! -N
Thanks Roger! We appreciate you watching and commenting! - C
Longhorn cuts their steak and salmon in house lol they both come in fresh never frozen. Now the CHICKEN comes in precut.

16 oz ft worth ribeye at Texas road house is my favorite usually for the price.
Great run down Thomas! Thanks so much! - C
Totally agree. I only go there if forced by friends or family. I couldn't enjoy a steak there even it was the best steak ever served to me.

@@TheGriddleGuys same to you guys
(My Outback microwaved lobster tails for example. 😳 )
Craig, not sure the outback would like this comment to see the light of day. 😁.. As a lifelong New Englander the microwaved lobster is what causes my head to want to explode.. lol. Ty for giving us a peek behind the curtain as scary as it might be. Cheers-J

I'm in agreeance with y'all about going ot and buying your own steaks for a few reasons.
1. You can see the marbling in them.
2. You can see the amount of fat on them.
3. You can actually see what the grade is.
True Story Bill, Very well stated! -N
I've never had a steak at a restaurant that is as good as what I can cook at home. A couple very expensive restaurants have come close but for the money I could go out and buy a really nice piece of Australian Wagyu
Australian wagyu?? New one for us but,,, Any Wagyu is good Wagyu right?! :D Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! -N
I think Texas Roadhouse generally has the best quality steaks for the best price. However, they are typically the chain that rarely gets “medium rare” right.
Good to know Thanks D! -C
@D. Stiefel
I like Longhorn better but my Texas Roadhouse steaks were always cooked perfect medium rare!
Griddle on! -N
Texas Roadhouse by a long shot for me. Great cuts, well prepared and served.
Having recently eaten at TRH I'm not surprised with your results. My first steak I sent back because 1/3 of it was fat. The second wasn't much better but I ate it and said I would go back to my locally owned Steak place and never go back to TRH.
Texas Roadhouse for me 💯💯
Wow…thanks. My expectation was Texas Road House would be a clear winner though I like all three. What a surprise.
In my area, it's Texas Roadhouse hands down. The Longhorn and Outback have been going downhill for years.
Morning JA! Thanks for watching the video! We appreciate it. Many folks have told us the same. it really depends on the actual location. Some are great, others not so much which I guess makes sense. Griddle on friend! -N
Next time at Salt Grass, I would like to know how their steaks hold up. I do agree Long Horn has awesome steaks.
Closest one to us is about a 20 hr drive :( Maybe in future travels we will get to check it out. Thanks Susan! - C

I agree, home griddling/grilling is best! Good comparisons.
I think, though, the beef is only as good as the person who cooks it on that day.
It was just amazing to us that none of them had any seasoning to speak of.
I think there is a world of difference in each individual steakhouse within each chain .
Totally agreed Lake Dog. Cheers-J

Ty suicyco. We all agree 👍 👍👍. Cheers
TR bread does kick butt! That stuff is delish! -N
All good points that we did not factor in Pacific. Thanks for bringing it up! Happy new year! -N
Gentleman what a great video. I think it would have been good to show your alcohol of choice! Haha. But you prove that when your cook, your own stay with it.
Great to hear from you G&C! Appreciate the kind words! Griddleon bud! -N

I feel the sides make up
For the steak. Basically idk how to cook 1 and cheaper and less mess just to go pick it up. So glad to see the comparison thanks so
Much .😊👍
No time like the present to get yourself a nice griddle 😁. There is definitely something nice about the no mess part tho. Thank you for commenting-J
It’s the complete opposite where I live. Outback all shutdown, longhorns over cooks medium rare, and roadhouse consistently cooks it perfect. Guess it depends on the gm n cook more than anything.
Agreed Daniel! Thanks for the comment! - C

Steak and Charcoal... Just the thought of it made my mouth water! Thanks for watching Bam! Happy Holidays! -N
Correct and also about 1/4 the price. That's the reason the last time I ordered steak at a restaurant (that wasn't comped) was right around 1975 when I was 20 and didnt have a grill at the apt yet.
I've never ordered the New York Strip. Heard it's a pretty thin cut. But of every steakhouse I've been to, Texas Roadhouse has been the best.

@@TheGriddleGuys Entertaining video. I will have to check out more of your videos.
Couldn't agree more. Thank you for commenting. Cheers-J

Yes they do. The last two times I ate there I couldn't even cut through the gristle. Never again.
@@gailmrutland6508 You're right, Longhorn is the best 😍
Nice cross marks just make it look better that was their point.
@@GeorgeSawtooth I don't cook steaks o take pics of them, I cook them for best flavor and that occurs when the exterior is blackened and the interior is rare to med rare. "Pittsburg Style".
Watch a few of our steak videos(specifically Tomahawk) and let us know if you feel the same way. I'm curious to see what you say! - C
That seems to be in line with the others. Also seems that your missing out not having outback. Thanks for commenting-J
Which is better? The chain steak house or the sous vide and seared steak. Just asking, trying to get my wife to buy me one for Christmas 😁
Hi Rodney! Thanks for taking the time to comment,,, Sous vide all day every day and twice on Sunday! But,,, isn't the sous vide really a gift for her? So she can have tender, juicy, perfectly cooked meat at home whenever she wants?? (wink wink) 😀
I mean how can she not get you one? LOL Fingers crossed it ends up under the tree for you ! Griddle on bud! -N
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment, we appreciated it! Griddle on bud! -N
@@TheGriddleGuys well market basket you know they can be difficult in the meat section, wish they sold my favorite sweet and sour sauce that forces me to go to hannafords. Anyways love your videos
Question for you guys. Do you guys use any kind of steak sauce? In my opinion if the steak is seasoned right and cooked right, no sauce is need.
Hi Mike, Cruddy steak = A1 steak sauce. Good steak = No sauce, just savor that beefy goodness 😀 Thanks for the question. Griddle on bud! -N
@@TheGriddleGuys, thank you for the reply. Love the channel.
LOL love the caddy shack reference! Thanks man! - C
Longhorn is by far the best between Outback and Texas!
All of them are trash cooking Steak is better
here where i live outback 3 longhorns 2 and texas roadhouse is 1 but all that goes as to the meat they buy and the cooks.
Texas Roadhouse is getting a lot of love........We look forward to another test down the road and to see the results! - C
To me and my family Texas Roadhouse. Their Prime Rib makes me ummmm the first 6 /7 bites of it. No place yet as good as them.
Hi Linda! thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! Griddle on friend! -N
Having tried all of these, I've had my best experiences at Texas Roadhouse. But, my favorite ever Lone Star, isn't on the list.
@@TheGriddleGuys yeah man. Great videos and love the content. Keep it up 👍🏼
