my previous GP was retired at 67 from the communal health clinic, but had a private office in his house right across the street from the clinic, and kept seeing select patients until he was forced to retire for good at 75, since he was no longer able to prescribe medications at that age. best doctor I ever had. he was the head of the clinic for decades, and was the kindest, most helpful and understanding doctor I ever met. I could call him and ask him if he could pick up some groceries for me as it was a 20 min bus ride each way to town (we live in a podunk village of about 3k ppl) and he would come to my door with the groceries.

That dispatcher needs to make a training course so that she can be able to train thousands of other dispatchers. She handled that OUTSTANDINGLY. I hope she got the recognition she deserves.
Also, the guts it took for that nurse to stand up to him, damn. If no one else is, I am so proud of her. She protected everyone else in that office with her life. What a genuinely brave and good hearted person.

Luckily it seems like the jury saw right through the defense's insanity plea and just straight up convicted him of murder, period. At the time of writing, it looks like he's now facing up to life in prison at an upcoming sentencing trial. Even knowing what to expect the first time I actually did CPR it was a very traumatic experience for me like most people.
Unfortunately in most rural areas and small-mid sized towns in the US the dispatchers lack the industry standard training and protocols so it’s a crap shoot on what sort of instructions a caller will get.
I’ve had doctors call 9-1-1 and think they know better despite the fact they’re a gastroenterologist or whatever and have never done CPR so they really should listen, whereas other times I’ve had an ER nurse as a caller so instead of giving them instruction I counted along and timed their compressions to verify they’re maintaining rate. Another time I had a retired fire chief call but because he was using a very outdated CPR system I had to tactfully bring him into modern times.

To guarantee a conviction on their record, they likely gave him the option of pleading guilty in exchange for life in prison and the death penalty off the table. It’s a common practice and for the record, most defendants plead not guilty all the way through trial where they’re ultimately given the maximum sentence. This plea agreement saved tax payers money and gave the DA a win for his record, so the reward for the defendant is no death penalty.

This was so heartbreaking to watch. Also the only thing I could think of as to why the death penalty was off the table, is because, maybe the family of the deceased did not want that.
I've seen that a lot over the years.
Many times prosecutors want the death penalty in certain cases so bad, However when the family of the victims come to the prosecutor and say they do not want the death penalty, they have to respect that because it's not about them at the end of the day.
It's about the victims and their families.
My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and all of their families. Every single person in that office was a victim of that POS because they will forever be traumatized, that includes the officers on scene and everyone.

The death penalty is what many consider to be an "easy way out" with no true consequence. It just doesn't make sense to call it a punishment, depending on how you look at it. One thing I think everyone can agree on, though, is that victims of crimes like this don't often get a chance to decide what should be done about it. So if it's truly about punishment/consequence, then we're accepting the responsibility of deciding what that means. No scenario will leave everyone satisfied. I hope the families of the victims can find peace.

Yeah I used to be pro death penalty but through experience and growing up I realized what you have said above. I believe being locked up for life having to deal with the consequences of what the individual has done is a far better punishment for anyone that has some form of remorse anyway but that doesn’t bring the lives lost back. I feel sorry for the families of those men and their families.

I actually had a friend ask me why i carry my 🔫 everywhere, even to my dentist, doctors or countless other places. Things like this while rare, we do not get to choose when a person comes unglued and everyone in their path is now a target. Being your own first responder, be it 🔫 or medical may be the difference in going home or not. Carry medical, get training and carry anywhere legally possible. The average response time in most areas is 15 mins. The average femoral bl33d takes 90 seconds to be no return....

The Narrator makes a clear effort to point out that he didnt have a license to have a weapon, but the 2nd amendment doesnt say anything about needing a license, and secondly, possibly more importantly, they can keep law abiding citizens from obtaining weapons, but the criminals will still get ahold of them.
