Thanks for showing us the secrets behind the magic of playing with the hands. Never realized all the different sounds you can get from playing this way. Again you have shown us what makes John B great.

Hi George awesome video! Thank for all of the videos you do. I found your comments about Bonham’s plywood board that he would use under his drums interesting. “I Have recently tried to make a replica of the Bonham board that is three pieces and folds up. What a difference in sounds that the drums make as well. The bass drum becomes a cannon. From what I can tell the bass drums spurs and floor Tom legs are sunk in the plywood. You can never see any other sound of the black rubber tips in the photos. But the hi hat looks like it was actually strapped down with straps around two of the legs. I don’t think the cymbal stands or the snare drum stands were sunk but I could be wrong. I was really surprised about how the drum board really changed the sound of the drums.

Be careful. Way ,way back in the pre-Bonzo days I saw Lee Michaels’ drummer cut his hand on the edge of a cymbal. Blood was flying everywhere snd they had to stop playing,

Don’t forget that Moby Dick in the studio was recorded with effects and very sensitive microphones … and then in the live performances, it was so LOUD , and the venues were usually so big. …He really didn’t have to play the drums as hard as you might think and still get the same tone. effects effects effects effects.

@@johncook635 true, although he really could produce a lot of force when he wanted to, there's some footage from Japan 1971 where he's just hammering the toms. Huge dynamic range
