Here is a walkthrough of how I would choke or spread a base or overprint for the same piece of art in Photoshop and Illustrator. Let us know what are some of your techniques. There is more than one way to tackle seps...
a trick : watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Tatum Raul yup, been watching on flixzone} for since december myself :)
another great live matt thks for sharing when is the new press coming
Thank you! Between the 25th and 27th.
it sucks i missed out on this, can you please show me how to separate artwork pleaseeeee! i now have my notification on lol so i wont miss out on the live action again
I would be happy to help! If you want to toss up a picture on our FB page 'Shop Talk Screen Print Q&A', or email it to me, I'll post a quick video on how to separate it.
is choke and spread the same as "bleed"? thx
Choke is to make the image smaller, by contracting the size of the image. Spread would be to make it larger so it spreads out further than the base color. Bleed is more of for print media such as paper, an is the amount of the graphic that goes past the crop size of the print.
It's nice and easy to do this now in Separation studio 4 :)
It definitely helps speed things up. :) My only compliant is if you bring in a vector image, it rasterizes it.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 I thought SS4 works with the actual vector file. Kind of false advertising if they say that you can now work with vector images.
@@crumptees It works with vector art. You can save the spot colors and what not in Illustrator, then open it up in SS4. Then apply your under base. For those that aren't quick about, or have the knowledge how to create an under base, SS4 is great. If you know your way around Illustrator it's just as fast to just make that under base, spread, or trap.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 I will only be using it for simulated process anyway since most jobs are basic 2-3 colors. Now get back to work! lol
@@crumptees lol yes sir! That's basically all I use it for.
Whenever I do seps in photoshop my lines are always jagged not clean and straight any idea why?
I would check the size of the image. Make sure it is the full print size at 200 - 300 dpi.
tnks crack !
You're welcome!
I'm never comfortable with creating positives with raster images. With designs such as this, drop it in VectorMagic (way better tracing) and then export to Illustrator. Less pain in the butt seppin. :)
I hear that!!! :) Did you catch the part where I showed separating the art in Illustrator?
missed yet again...lol
LOL! No worries! :)
